Ferrari is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2007 with a major event from June 21st to June 24th in Maranello, Italy. Maranello will be the finish line in a “relay race” across five continents where participants will carry a baton embossed with symbols of the 60 greatest moments in the company’s history. The relay represents an extraordinary, collective sign of enthusiasm that will bring together Ferrari clients and their cars representing every model and era.
The “Ferrari 60 Relay” will kick off on January 28th in Abu Dhabi, site of the future Ferrari theme park, and conclude in Maranello on June 24th, after traversing about 50 countries in 148 days. The central theme of the final events is technological innovation pioneered by Ferrari in the 60 years of its existence. For the occasion, Ferrari is assembling its 60 most important innovations, ranging from aluminum pliers for disc brakes to the electric differential and the F1 gearbox.
Against this backdrop Ferrari has organized its first concours d’élégance: a series of events on the track, at the factory and at the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello celebrating the elegance of the Ferrari.
From Abu Dhabi the long relay will proceed to Dubai, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. From the Emirates it will head east, to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. From Oceania it will fly to South Africa and then on to Latin America, reach Mexico, and from there continue on to United States and Canada. Then to Europe, where it will cross Portugal, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, the United Kingdom, Greece, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Turkey. It will then touch Egypt and Lebanon, and finally to Italy, where it will touch all the main cities finally arriving, after a special ceremony in Rome, in Maranello.
Of particular interest are the 60 symbols created for the 60 events. Enamel reproductions of them by Editalia (Gruppo Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato) will be applied to the baton, and 60 posters of the symbols will also be made. What makes these symbols unique is the fact that they were produced by six different creative teams, guaranteeing a vision of the whole of great graphic and symbolic interest. The following advertising agencies were the creators: Intesta e D’Adda, Lorenzini, Vigorelli, BBDO, Alessandro Migliorini of Area Creativa, Marco Morosini, Enzo Naso of the eponymous firm, and Wolfgang Seidl of Seidldesign.
I'd like to find out exactly when they'll be going through each country really.
Also, 'Ferrari Themepark'? - http://www.motorworld.net/forum/showthread.php?t=46425

It is too bad I am going to Australia and Norway this year. I would love to go to such a major event over my birthday.
Interesting way to celebrate. How does this tie to the cars driving across the Americas? (see recent issues of top gear from top ford)

Australia?
Cool! However I doubt Perth will be the location, more likely a bigger eastern states city (Sydney or Melbourne). :(
they left from Brazil up to the states last year (or in 2005, can't remember) so we're out of the race this time....really too bad...I thought i maybe could have witnessed my dream 250 Pininfarina Coupé once again...

All I know is that "something" is gonna be presented to just a handful of costumers and we won't see it until next year...
Quite surely I'll be in Maranello in those days!

Well, for any UKers I have news on the UK leg of the journey:
Ferrari GB will host the 60th Anniversary relay between 18-22 April and the tour will visit every Ferrari dealership in the UK, with a series of activities which will involve Ferrari’s most enthusiastic clients and fans.
As for other countries .... there's no info or schedule been released yet.
More updates soon ...

yes, started ~2 weeks ago, some pictures have been around from the start in Dubai or so.
haven't found any details about the Europe-route yet :bah:
it's a big secret, anybody knows something
No idea neither :(
And actually although my hotel is booked and everything, no idea about the celebrations at home in Maranello yet.
I only heard the main event should be quite interesting, costing 6000 € to enter your F and every country get a quota of cars allowed in  should make for some interesting entries for sure

/\/\ Wow thats some insane info about the main event
No idea about this event really. I guess it will be just a gathering like the Enzos or FXX ones. But well, I hope more info will be released because I don't want to roam around randomly hoping to understand what's going on

Me wants to know when they are in Holland! :D
I heard they will be in Holland at the 17th of April, but I don't know anything about the route.
Finally I heard some things about the route in the Netherlands. They will drive from Enschede to Hilversum as already said in the link posted by stmoritzer. The tour will make a stop in Deventer for a lunch. After the lunch they drive on B-roads to Paleis Soestdijk where they will probably arrive in the afternoon.
I try to be there at Paleis Soestdijk. Any other dutch JW members going?

Ferrari GB will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the “Largest Parade of Ferraris” at the Ferrari Racing Days spectacular at Silverstone from 8-9-10 June 2007. The attempt will take place on Saturday 9 June and will see the Silverstone circuit turned Rosso Corsa as Ferrari owners from all over the UK take to the track in an incredible display of Ferrari’s road car heritage. Ferrari owners interested in participating in this attempt to set a new Guinness World Record should contact Ferrari GB directly on 01753 878700 with details of their Ferrari and to register their interest.
In addition to the Guinness World Record attempt, the Ferrari Racing Days event will feature the UK round of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli with over 60 equally matched Ferrari F430 Challenge cars jostling for position on one of the fastest F1 Grand Prix circuits, and the ultra-exclusive FXX which will be making its only official UK appearance. It will be an action-packed weekend of Ferrari festivities which will appeal to Ferrari clients and the ever-faithful Tifosi.
Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone is the UK focus of Ferrari’s 60th Anniversary and, quite appropriately, will also feature the Ferrari Shell Historic Championship in which classic road and race Ferraris compete in three different categories to relive the golden era of motorsport. Ferrari’s customer motorsport division, Corse Clienti, are also supporting several Ferrari clients who will be demonstrating a range of famous and historic F1 cars from the company’s illustrious racing past.
The Ferrari Racing Days will also be the focus of the 40th Anniversary of the Ferrari Owners Club in the UK, with an incredible display of at least 40 examples of the iconic F40 supercar which remains one of Ferrari’s most memorable performance cars. With Ferrari owners from all over the UK invited to participate in the Ferrari Racing Days and the Ferrari Owners Club’s 40th Anniversary, it is expected that Silverstone will see the largest gathering of Ferraris in one place in 2007.

Summary of Motor Sport Activity for Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone:
Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli
The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is a race series dedicated exclusively to the Ferrari F430 Challenge which Ferrari clients can enter in a series of races at some of the most demanding and prestigious race circuits in Europe. In 2007, the F430 Challenge car is entering its second season of competition with an endurance race format that promises to offer dramatic action as the 30+ equally-matched 490hp V8 Ferraris jostle for position at every corner.
The F430 Challenge is a race-prepared version of the F430 road car – both feature Ferrari’s acclaimed F1 “paddle-shift” gearbox and carbon-ceramic brakes, but the race car also features a full GT-spec roll-cage, Lexan windscreen and air jacks and centre-locking wheels for quicker wheel changes. The F430 Challenge race car also runs on 19” tyres which were specially developed by Pirelli for this championship. The F430 Challenge reaffirms the very close link between Ferrari’s competition and road car departments.
FXX
For the fortunate few, Ferrari invited 29 of their most loyal and passionate clients to purchase an FXX and join the company as a “Client Test Driver”. With only 29 FXX manufactured (plus one for Michael Schumacher), the FXX development programme is one of the most exclusive technological test-beds available to clients. Their use is exclusively restricted to race circuits around the world – the car is not homologated for road or race use. The FXX forms a critical part of Ferrari’s commitment to research and development, with many of the innovations developed as part of the FXX programme being evaluated for potential use on future Ferrari road cars.
Ferrari Shell Historic Challenge
With an unrivalled heritage of important and iconic competition cars, the Ferrari Shell Historic Challenge is the perfect arena for historic Ferraris from every decade to be enjoyed in their natural environment – on the race track. The series is a stunning showcase for the proud history of competition Ferraris spanning 60 years, with unique cars such as a 1950 Ferrari 166 Inter Vignale, a 1960 Ferrari 250 SWB California Spider, a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Competizione, and a 1980 Ferrari 512 BB Le Mans racing on track now just like they did when they first left Maranello.
F1 Clienti
The pace of development in the world of F1 motor racing is relentless, and, for many teams, cars from previous seasons are often relegated to spend their retirement in a musuem collecting dust – but not so with Ferrari. After two years since they saw active competition, a select number of Ferrari F1 cars are offered for sale to Ferrari clients who wish to live out every boy’s fantasy of being a Formula One driver.
These cars are professionally supported and lovingly maintained by the same Ferrari personnel who were part of the team during the car’s racing career. The F1 Clienti stable includes cars from several decades of Ferrari’s unparalleled F1 racing success, with examples of Ferrari’s F1 cars previously driven by 7-times World Champion Michael Schumacher, and Niki Lauda’s 1975 Ferrari 312T still providing a spectacle for Ferrari fans to enjoy many years after the car’s official retirement from competition.

385 Ferraris ranging from a 250 California Spider through to the 250GTO and the ultra-exclusive FXX, as well as several examples of the iconic supercars, the F40, F50 and Enzo, set a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Parade of Ferrari Cars’ at Silverstone on Saturday 9 June, 2007. Definitely a sight that can make a grown man’s heart break into pieces. For those of you who love numbers, according to the organizers, the Ferraris that participated in the parade had an estimated value of more than €88 million - $117 million! -Continued below
Massimo Fedeli, Managing Director of Ferrari GB Ltd, said: “What an amazing sight… We are proud to have the support of so many Ferrari owners today in setting a new Guinness World Record. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Owners Club, our Sponsors and everyone who has been working behind the scenes for months to achieve this fantastic record.”
In order to comply with the Guinness World Record’s rules for such an attempt, all the cars had to travel over a minimum 2 mile distance, no more than two car lengths apart, and had to be counted at the beginning and the end of the parade. With a starting grid of Ferrari cars stretching from Becketts all the way to Copse on the Silverstone Circuit, the cars completed one full lap and covered a distance of 3 miles, driving two abreast around the entire circuit. Leading the parade was a 599 GTB Fiorano driven by Bruno Senna, nephew of three-time World Champion Ayrton Senna

I was there, I'll try to get some pics/vids up when I have some time.
It was seriously AMAZING, F1 cars, the sea of Ferrari owners club cars, the FXXs! WOW!
Being able to stand within a foot of the back of an FXX in the garage (+ 7/8 more FXXs) was fantastic :) Watched them downloading the data after the races and revving too! All the engineers had their fingers in their ears!
Very friendly lot from the owners club too, couldn't shut a guy up talking about his Enzo which he happily showed off.
Got completely sunburnt but it was woooorth it :)
Enzos, F50s, F40s, 360CSs  all revving for spectators as they moved towards the parade at the end of the day.
I cannot believe how relaxed the owners were, letting us all over the cars, I can imagine if I'd had one there I'd have had it behind 2ft thick walls of concrete!
If I get chance I'll write a little report to go with the pics...
P.S. There was also a Veyron there ;)
Nice! But I fear it won't last! it seem Ferrari plan to put 1800 Ferraris on Fiorano's track in two weeks :D Not sure they'll actually move them to validate the attempt though!
