Here are the first pictures I took a few mins ago with my new Casio Exilim Z1000! I'm lucky to be living in a street with many exotic car sightings (not too rare though :() so hopefully I'll be able to share them with you all now :D

From now on only high res car pics for me :D The pictures are actually too big to upload on imageshack.us so I've got to resize the pictures. I keep the original ones so if you want them, just contact me. Sorry btw for my bad shooting capacities, I'm just a beginner so if any of you guys have tips for making the best shots, please comment!

Pics look ok Stoopie, weather is shit as always in Holland :P
Tips: Try different shooting positions and take the same picture with different settings to learn the best setting in each situation.

Are these the original pics or are these compressed?
These are compressed. Quite a lot actually, original size was 2,2 mb each (3648x2432). I can take pictures with a wider image, that'll be 3648x2736, but I don't think that would make great pictures.. I can try though, I spotted a M5 (previous model) a few streets away from here, that one will be shot soon ;)

Try less compression, I think the quality of the picture will improve a lot.

I just went into my neighbourhood in Nijmegen (which is the city centre ;)) to make some evening pictures. I'm very disappointed with the result, but maybe somebody could give me some tips about taking pictures at night? I tried various settings but the image just keeps getting too blurry IMO.. It's definitely not the camera, I'm sure about that, but I can't keep a steady hand I guess. With the flash on I get real sharp images, but they are a bit too light I think. Opinions plz :D

The E39 M5 you're referring too is probably the one that's parked on the Bijleveldsingel, isn't it? There's an AM V8 Vantage and an M6 on the Oranjesingel sometimes.

Actually, I was referring to a grey one. But I've seen that black one as well. I haven't seen the F430 spider yet. I did see a red 360 Spider (dutch plates), a silver F430 berlinetta (dutch plates) and a yellow 550 Barchetta (german plates).
Stoopie

^ Cool, I've heard about that grey one as well, a friend of mine told me about it. That same friend told me about the F430 Spider which is frequently parked near the building he lives. I've only seen it once, at night at the KK roundabout, I love that sound :D And I've seen the black DB9 a few times, don't think it's a car from Nijmegen actually, I saw it driving through the tunnel onder the Central Station a few times, that car sounds great in tunnels :D I've seen a silver 456 near your building as well, it was in front of Cafe De Fuik. I want to see that silver F430 berlinetta you saw :D

Went outside this afternoon, crappy weather as always, and spotted some nice cars. I could get closer to the Maserati, but the owner was near the car and I didn't have the guts to take pictures while the owner was standing near ;) About the Porsche 996, I think he just went into the parking spot a bit too fast.. I took a close-up of it, the licenseplate came off as well

^ Yeah I'd bet that too.. It's a shame :(
The new camera doesn't seem at ease with tricky light conditions, but it's normal for a compact camera afterall.. I hope you'll have some sunny days too because your area shows potential and it will be much funnier and easier to practice in good conditions ;)

Stoopie, were there any marks on the lamp post? From the pictures it looks like the damage could have been caused by the car hitting somthing else. There's damage all over the front of the car. I doubt that happened as a result of a parking accident, since parking accidents are usually at low speed, especially when you see the lamp post right in front of you. Then it shouldn't have more damage than a slightly dented bumper.
Stoopie
01-05-2007, 10:00 AM
^ Could well be ofcourse. Didn't check for damage on the streetlight.
Just went out again and took some new car pictures, will post later this week.
*edit: but I have to say, the car lost its licenseplate, and it would be illegal to drive it! and on top of that, all the streetlights in that street have been renewed recently..

I'm starting my own carsightings site, hope you like it. Ofcourse, the design has to be worked on, but now it at least works. Not too many cars though, but that'll expand (hopefully) as time goes by. And yes I know the URL is stupid, but I don't have to pay for it :)

Yes, for now. That's the area where I live and a lot of lawyer offices and private bankers are situated along the Oranjesingel. I've only been out there to shoot some cars 2 times, and this is the result of it. I've still missed a lot of cars that are recently seen here, and which come around often. I saw a RR Phantom (black) in front of a private banker's office, and a few 360 Spiders/Modena's and a few Quattroportes. But I didn't have a camera yet when I saw those, so I hope to see them around soon. The camera is a ultra compact model so I carry it with me whereever I go :) I've got some exams coming up so I don't have any time to go outside this area really, but in 2 weeks I'll be crawling all over Nijmegen ;)
*edit: and ofcourse, every saturday this city is overflooded with German people shopping here, and they bring along nice cars as well :)

This afternoon I saw a very dark blue Phantom (Belgian plates) at the Oranjesingel, close to the Rabobank. Maybe the same one you saw, Stoopie? At the same office I have seen another Phantom in a different colour before (brownish). Personally, I find it a revolting car, but I have to admit it's something you don't see every day.

BTW > Do you guys like the size (1600x1200) or do you want them bigger? Please let me know :)
Quality doesn't improve with the size. 1600x1200 is a nice size

It was there 2 days in a row, you should walk across the Oranjesingel more often.. There are actually always nice cars there!
*edit: you said earlier that there was a Maserati 4200 GT parked regularly at the Oranjesingel, can you indicate where it's parked (which side of the Oranjesingel for example?)?

I know this question was directed at Mark, but I'd like to add that as far as I know there's a 3200 GT at the St. Canisiussingel, the one you already took some shots of. There's also a black on tan 4200 Spyder in the same area. I see it often in the Van Welderenstraat, close to the corner of the Molenstraat. I haven't seen a 4200 GT yet.

He Stoopie and Stradale, the 4200 GT is regularly parked at the Oranjesingel on the left side (coming from the Waalbrug direction). It is parked at the Headoffice of Australian Homemade Icecream.....Quite close to a real estate agent...(Is that Verbeek or Hestia or something?) I have to admit that I haven't seen it in a while..... :(
Great pictures, oh that maserati. I love that car! So sexy and elegant. btw..whats up with that black thing around the wheel of the s class?

Apparently Jan Stuivenberg is the fifth one.. He also owns a Ferrari F40, Jaguar XJ 220, Bugatti EB 110 Super Sport, Porsche 959, Ferrari F430 and a Bentley GT.
Oh yes, the car will be getting swiss plates to avoid 700.000 Euro's in taxes.  This means he only has to pay 1.100.000 euro's now
Michiel Mol (Spyker) is rumoured to have ordered one too.

But if it's 700,000€ already in Holland... what about Norway?? 2,000,000€ in taxes for a 1,200,000€ car??
Now that really is out of this world!

Another update, the Quattroporte and the S4 were caught when working in Oosterbeek/Amsterdam.. When I was in Amsterdam, I suddenly heard a big roar behind me, and there was a white Countach  But my boss was in the back, so I couldn't take any pictures.. But at least it's good to know there's a white Countach in The Netherlands as well

Well I think he also means that a part of the cls misses, you don't need a expensive camera to get the composition right
You should look for a litle tripod, they are very cheap and gives you a steady shot!

Yeah that picture is in Oosterbeek, one of the richest towns in The Netherlands, they always 'throw' their cars around like that ;) 5 mins earlier I saw the facelifted Porsche Cayenne Turbo, damn that car looks good in the flesh, the rearlights are a real improvement, same goes for the new headlights!

OMG the Swiss are invading Nijmegen! ;)
The E46 M3 was a tuned one actually, it had a AC Schnitzer chassis and an AC Schnitzer exhaust system. The man sitting in the car was actually the dad of the owner of the car, the man had an E60 M5 himself but he drove along with his son that day.. When his son came back to the car I asked if he could start it, and he fired it up alright, damn that thing has a loud sound.. Screaming like a Carrera GT almost, it was just great :) And btw, that colour isn't standard either, it's carbon black, he had the car imported from Germany.

I had a brilliant sighting yesterday: a black Ferrari 599 with dark wheels and a loud exhaust... It had German plates. I think it was from Frankfurt (plate starting with F), so I'm afraid there's not a big chance of seeing it again. :(

Yeah I saw that car twice already in Nijmegen, seems to be visiting here pretty often.. Both times on the Hertogstraat, but it just blasted away so no time to catch it :( But yeah that car was stunning

He Stoopie, both the ferrari's you have seen belong to Mr. Fred Tito (owner of the Tito lifttruck company). He is a big collector of Ferrari and has quite a collection. He also owns an Enzo and 575 and I believe his is listed in the Quote 500 as well. He drives Ferrari both with Dutch and German plates....and used to drive a pink(!) 911 turbo cabrio :D

I saw the Z8 at Düsseldorf International Airport, and whilst looking at the picture later, I noticed it had Alpina rims :)
And now some more stories: a few weeks earlier I heard a roaring sound coming down the street, and I looked outside and there was a brand new SLR 722 edition! I was too late to grab my camera, but luckily someone else did catch it (link (http://www.autogespot.nl/viewimages.php?id=2214748364801052007171630) to his pictures). And last saturday, as I was walking home, a grey 599 TGB (on Belgian plates) drove past me (again no camera on hands) and 5 minutes later, there was the black 599 GTB with black rims again  And to round things up, this morning the grey F430 was in the same place as it was last week, so I hope it's there again next week to take some pics :)
(For the Dutchies: de F430 staat (waarschijnlijk) elke woensdagochtend op Plein 1944)
Btw, the blue DB9 Volante is from the same owner as the black Phantom I spotted earlier on the same location, and the black DB9 Volante was parked one street away from my parents house. The car belongs to a friend of my father, I knew he had a DB7 Volante, but he apparently bought himself a new/another toy :)
