Nice vid. When I read this thread at first, I thought it would be the vid of the Kart powered by the Hayabusa motor running at the Nurburing. This one looks to be about as fast. The only difference was that the other cart had a hard time staying straight, it was oversterring through pretty much every corner. Again, nice vid though and if you haven't seen the other one I'm speaking of, I recommend you check it out. Problem is, I don't know where you could find it. I don't even remember where i got it, it's been a while. If i find a link, I'll add it here, otherwise I hope maybe someone who knows what vid I'm talking about may be able to add a link.

I saw karts like this once on the TT circuit of Assen. They lapped the track faster than the (then) 500 cc bikes!

Yup, that's the one. I had just found a link, but you beat me to it. It is powered by a GSX-R motor, not the Haybusa motor. I was wrong on that. Still pretty damn fast though. That thing would be scary fast to drive, but more fun than 5 barrels of monkeys. I want one!! Here's the link I found.

I was told it was even worse. The figure mentioned by the commentator at the track was 300 km/h! They were six-speed superkarts and it was a German racing class. I don't know whether there's a Dutch championship for these things.

No, that's not it. I searched google and found this. It's called superrace karts and that's the ones I have seen. Here you can read about the championship and the kart of this particular driver (in German).

Ah, I see. It also says they achieve speeds of over 250km/h..... SOme scary ish if your sitting 5cm or so of the ground. :)

The guy who wrote it said his kart could reach 290 km/h. At a Silverstone race a speed of 292 km/h was measured once. That's on silverstone, not some Nardo test track or a straight runway that goes on for miles. These things have virtually no suspension and the steering is very direct. Imagine doing 290 in that!
