I just got a call from a guy (I work at the Vodafone Callcentre) and he said he's just on his way home from the ring. I told him I envy him so much and he said they're going back in 4th of January, so if I'm interested, they'll be happy to take me with them :D
this guy is from some company testing Merc and DAF truck on the testing ring right next to Nurburgring (where Komotar was testing Audis).
so here comes the question:
is it worth going even to see truck testings and hope there will be some supercars? it'll be January, so I'm not optimistic at all :?
atleast I'm taking my camera with me, so... Truck Photoshoots on JW?
what you guys think?
If the NS is closed, I'd say it's not worth the trip...

it might be worth it to develop this contact/friendship IMO ;) even if its boring trucks... regardless, you'll learn a lot. I say go. :D

maybe I'll see some crazy Turbo drifting on the snow like the other vid :D
You got a point on that one, but if those new friends will only visit the region with trucks when the NS is closed, I'd say he should find better friends :D
But as suggested, check out on their website to see if the North loop is open.. if snow isn't arrived yet, it might still be possible to do a couple of laps!

If I were you I woud go there, trucks might be boring, but I think you can have a lot of fun and learn a lot. And maybe you are able to bring some spyshots back home.

that's another point :hmm: :D
Well, the question is: do you have something else to do those days? If not, just go, it can't be that bad afterall :)

thats not that much of money for the fuel I thought it might be much worse :) so JW Ring meeting in summer is doable :P

You forgot to add... "in the rain" :P
When I visited the ring, 600 km from Lausanne, I did it in a single day, less than 24 hours actually, and I slotted in a Ferrari day and 6 laps on the NS, but we were two ppl driving... doable...
Sadly from where I live now, it's more like 700 km :(

680 Km!? Thats it!! I drove from Northern Washington to home in one day, by myself, TWICE. Roughly 18hrs of driving not including stops and about 1200+ miles. That was no fun, but I had my reasons.
Anyway, I would say go even if its not open and especially if its all paid for. Like TT said, what else you got to do? Work?

I'm not sure if the Ring is closed on winter... :? :?
I'd check their site just in case... :hmm:
The Nordschleife is open for public driving during the winter, but only if there's no snowfall or ice. Since it's likely to snow during the winter, the NS is closed most of the time for the public.
@ Mihals: if you want to spot some prototypes this also isn't the best time to do so. If I'm not mistaken there isn't any prototype testing on the Ring itself the last week of December and the first week of January
