who would think you'd find a truck that big in texas.

Exactly - and also the 'only in America' comment...
And a Veyron isn't penis compensation I guess :P
BTW, such a truck (which is a show truck for the guys very succesful Car Stereo/Alarm business) is actually a work horse... how else do you think people haul horse trailers, race car trailer, cattle trailers, building supply trailers etc etc.
Until you have seen and witnessed the number of people using large pickup trucks to operate their businesses you will never get it ;)

"normal" trucks don't have the engine to move the low gearing in the trans/final drive required to move large loads reliably.
The F650 could do the work of 3 normal trucks and not even notice. There is a line between pickup and big rig and this one sits on it nicely :D

They seem to work well in other parts of the world, well, mine, anyway. They have special horse transportation trucks here.

^haha, yeah, but the thing is, people in other places tend to live decent lives without using such monstrosities.

^ People who can afford this truck though have purchased it specifically for hauling large loads. This is something that Contractors would buy for hauling lumber, concrete, ducting and the forklift to offload it  so it's not like one of these lifted F250s you see running around that will never see any kind of surface other than pavement

No they dont.
In Australia as everywhere esle you have "full size pickups and Semis (18 wheelers)" - nothing in between, so you are either a small time amatuer or have to hire or own expensive 18 wheelers.
The F350 through 650 sized trucks allow ANYONE with $40 or $50,000 more or less, to have a hard working truck to allow work to continue...
I don't recall ever seeing Toyota Hilux, Isuzu LDV or Mazda B Series trucks doing this kind of work?
Hell, even in South Africa the guys who do this kind of work imported F350/450's and GMC 3500' etc. Again - filling the gap bewteen the 18 wheelers and the Toyota Hilux. :P

oh no, i get it. more than most, actually. where i live, it is probably the redneck capital of florida. so i see those every day atleast 20 times, especially with what i do as a means to feed myself. but if you buy those trucks and you don't have a horse or a house to pull, you need to be slapped.
and also, any supercar is the ultimate for of penis comp. period.

Yeah, we have F-150s and F-250s in Australia, often as tow trucks. This is just way way way way way bigger.

How do you Aussies tow big trailers like I posted?

The pics you posted are of things not commonly seen on Australian roads. Usually hauled around by rigs, though.

exactly. And they aren't cheap either. This saves them a ton of money. But i guess it's too redneck for Aussies :P

Yep - you can see at least 6 or 8 such setups at an ordinary track day - and maybe 40 or more at an actual race day.
Not to mention garden service companies, builders, car haulers, horse and cattle hotshot haulers - then there are the small moving companies and small deliver services, plumbers, handymen etc etc etc.
I think people from around the world have no idea how important the small business is to the US economy - and not every small business is a lawyer or doctor or dentist or hairdresser - many are aritsans and other service providers who make their living using vehicles that are cheaper ans smaller than big rigs but way more useful than a standard pickup truck.

Most tradesmen here use normal utes, though. Or vans. The big pick-up trucks are generally turned into tow trucks.

Yep like my family who are in the trades all use utes/pickups. They use say a hilux, tritons, holden commodore ute, ford falcon ute, and they usually tow large utility trailers full of all their gear behind it.
Most couriers use large commercial vans over here like the Toyota Hiace or VW Transporter or Ford Transit...
Bigger deliveries like say 5-10 pallets will usually come on an Isuzu Flat tray truck like say an Isuzu N series.
The price difference could also be a reason why we dont see many of them over here in OZ. They end up pretty expensive compared to our local pickups. Say a 2006 F250 is around $120k and a Triton/Hilux/Holden are all around $25-40k.

I surely wouldn't like to see most people I known, driving that beast near me...

Yes, anyone with a license can drive one. I don't see what would be so hard about it. Pickups are some of the easiest things to drive since you can see everything around you. Just use some common sense and pretend it's a race car.

Yes, anyone with a license can drive one.
My licence only lets me drive vehicles up to 4.5 tonnes GVM. I think this will top that.

The F650 weights in at 26k GVW, which is exactly what a regular Class D license is good for.
