After watching Car and Driver I just want to purge my soul with some Top Gear. Because C and D is the most bland and unpersonal experience a car ethusiast can have.

sucks for us that live in the us.... but yes top gear is the best.. followed by 5th, and so on and so on.. and at the bottom of my list, is car and driver.

Car and Driver was better when they had Jim Scoutten. It was also pretty go when it was Motor Trend TV on TNN.I have lot of those episodes I've been wanting to share but nowhere to upload them. They may not be as good as Top Gear or 5th Gear but still decent stuff.

I agree that Car and Driver TV is pretty bland when compared to Top Gear or 5th Gear but Car and Driver does have a really good magazine

I prefer all of the British magazines and shows to their US counterparts. Yes i prefer spend 8.95 US on one issue of Car, Top Gear, or Evo every month than spend 9.95 US for a years worth of Car and Driver, or Motor Trend.

Car and Driver is good when you need to tear up a cheap mag for some car pics in your room

While topgear is more entertaning I feel car and driver actually shows and reviews cars more for the average person(american). Where I live I honestly dont see bentlies, ferarris, lambos, not to many porch's and maybe 1 in 200 cars is a BMW.

Top Gear is better but now I like 5th Gear better. Top Gear is just not the same without Tiff.

in some ways i agree because car and driver and motor trends are decent for regular cars (i have a subscription to motor trend), but the european stuff is just in a whole other world when it comes to passion and driving. i would rather just get subscriptions to car and evo and then pick up an issue of c and d from the newsstand whenever something good came up. i also really wish we got top gear here in america but it looks like this site might almost make up for that. :D

Top Gear isn't that tough to find. Well, tougher than Car & Driver. I usually picked up Top Gear at a local book stores. They don't usually sells it at the newstand.

Top Gear is definitely better, especially when Tiff was still a main cast member. that guy sure knows how to drive on the limit and he's funny too. as for the magazines, Top Gear is my fav there as well, the writing style is better for my tastes

car and driver sucks 'cause if a company pays more that cars is Number 1. see the SUV the VW toug... something was 7 and the Cadillac was 1 then the SUV of the year was the VW?

Tiff can make any car look exciting, that's the best thing about him.

Fav Mags
#1. Road and Track - they have 90 yr old former racers writing stuff up
#2. Autoweek - they have current racers writing stuff up
#3. Consumer Reports - VERY BLAND but truly independent, no advertising
#4. Sportscar - comes with SCCA membership which I dont have anymore
#1. most whored out mag = motor trend
#1. mag that exaggerates to entertain, C.D and T.G.

Top Gear mag was much much better 3~4 years ago, i don't like the new format.
But i subscribe to CAR, AUTOCAR and EVO.

Not only in Italy there are horrible magazines...ask TT about Quattroruote or Elaborare or Cambio, that sucks

Yes i agree with you, i thought that the country of the "bella machina" would have extraordinary car tv show (Easy Driver is a big s...) or wonderful mags but ..not.
However, i never read EVO Italia, but i suppose it's a derivative of EVO.
sucks for us that live in the us
I keep reading that every time we speak about car shows, but it would be better to say "cool to live in UK".. because I suppose the only country in the world with such funny and entertaining car shows is England... ok BestMotoring and Motorvision are not bad, but anyway it's not US residents beeing unlucky :D not only them :D

well, that's why I personaly watch topgear vids... it's all about entertaining reviews of cars that I will probably never have enough money to buy. If I buy a car I prefer to go for a test drive (personal experience is the most important), read some reviews over the net etc.

Yes it's derivate of EVO UK but it's not as good as the original. But it's still the best car mag here in Italy

Car and Driver is the worst car program today and there is no way that it can compare to top gear!! i agree that c&d was better with jim scoutten but still does not come close to what jeremy and the boys can offer.

Yea! Car reviews for cars I will never own need to be funny an whitty. How fast they go through slaloms, unless it is entertainingly fast, isn't really important.

No one is funnier than Jeremy Clarkson in the motoring business. Top Gear wins.

Thank God someone else notices that. I hate that magazine with a passion. Not only is it nigh-on redneck at some points, but they blatantly inflate any numbers they record. I love how you can always count on Motor Trend to make the best performance claims of any magazine. Apparently all their editors/testers are reincarnated driving gods, because they routinely beat numbers made by professional drivers (e.g. Lambo Murci in 3.2 0-60). Either they test on the stickiest tarmac known to man, test on a grade, or it's just inflated BS (I believe it's mostly the latter, perhaps with a bit of the former two mixed in for good measure).

Top Gear / 5th Gear are far much better than Car and Driver. Another show that IMO is disappointing is Super2ner TV, they could do so much things and they do so little. It is too "Fast and The Furious" like for me.

Any show liek that is going to be too "Fast and the Furious" because it is geared to heavily towards a large demographic.

Top Gear and 5th Gear are the best in the world!
Its not just a boring detailed TV show... Also "other" people watch them even
though they are not car fans like us...because its funny and colorful!

I feel like I'm watching consumer reports when I watch Car and Driver. The people on the show live and drive in a vacuum; they can't relate anything they do to real world driving/racing.

C+D doesn't even come close to anything top gear can do. I mean they both have their dry parts, but Top gear has far less. Clarkson and the crew are much better then the editors at C+D. Those boys were meant to write, not be in a car show iguess!

Yeah but i ghess 5Th gear is the best. We also can see good reviews and still Tiff drifting alot. Pretty nice. Car and driver are to "cold". I like Tiff reviews and his comentaries. He really tests the car, not just talk about them as he was reading a text. I guess 5tH and Top Gear are the best magazines. I like Road and Track too, but Top Gear talks more about the car, and in anotherway.

I love top gear. I like Jeremy Clarkson and I love seeing the cars being put through their paces. We get to see each car as a real life car snd then at the end we throw them on the tracka nd see how they stack up under high performance driving. You just don't get that with C&D
