Thanks!! :D
Notice how the time of the Corvette went from 12.5 to 12.1 in the same session... while the 911 went 11.9 both times.
This is probably the most fantastic illustration of how the driver is the one variable that is the most difficult to keep constant.
Now what makes you think the BMI folks are more familiar with 911's than Corvettes ? ;)
Oh - and hopefully the 13s NSX puts to rest any idea that the NSX is a fast car :P ;)

All those cars are pretty darn impressive, the pace is just blistering!
To see them like that is one thing, but out on the open road when they plant the right foot, its amazing to see how they pick up and go
RC - IMO anycar in the 13's and under is pretty damn quick!
Amazing traction and of course tiptronic helps a bit in keeping leveled performance.. that said, in real life such car will bust many asses being quite easy to launch it like a rocket!
The Z06 is probably up to it as far as in-gear acceleration goes, but on standing starts, the 997TT won't be easy to beat

13 dead isnt a fast car? seen as it was less than a second off what the vette ran with what? 200hp less? :P
not that its relevant to the 1/4 mile, but saying the NSX isnt a fast car, doesnt it pretty much do the same time at the nurburgring as the new Z06..........with again,200hp less? :P
Uhm - I don't recall any street NSX lapping in 7m43s ;)
And 13s is kinda slow.. as displayed on that video... thats like 5 cars behind a 12s car ;) :P
all im saying for a car with 200hp less the NSX-R doesnt do badly at all compared with the vette

After watching videos like this I'm a NSX-R lover:
NSX at Nurburgring - YouTube
How many cars with less than 300 bhp can lap the Nordloop in under 8 minutes?

:) True.. but there are a lot of not-so-powerful cars running 13s 1/4s... Aren't there some minivans and diesel delivery vans clicking off 13's these days? ;)

whereas I get the feeling that they are purposely driving other cars worse ;)
I've broken my NSX cherry some time ago already, and it is a handling car.. the engine is flat, sounds bad, and never feels fast. The chassis is responsive, absorbs bumps great, and predictable. Grip is very good.
but the engine is just so boring
its the difference between a car that you can enjoy at all times, and one that rquires a tight track to enjoy.... and at that point, why not just get a Sueprlight R, or Ariel Atom?
notice how the driver in the Z06 vs. both cars shoft shifts everytime he starts pulling on the 911, or am i just seeing things?

True, thats why I adore the kitcars so much because they are drivers cars! :D
I like the NSX in one way or the other but don't think its cool, I mean its expensive, there are better cars out there and its still a Honda...

That's why I would like to see the rpm/speed charts for this 1/4 runs.
If he didnt run to 7000rpm in 1st he didn't make 60mph in the one gear and then each susequent gear and run thourhg the rpm range is stunted just a little.
I think this is why we such wide variations 0-60 numbers for these stick shift super-sports cars.
With the Z06, as an example, if you launch with too high of an rpm you can blow the run as you boil the tyres... or if you dont run to redline in each gear you leave speed on the table.
A very fine balance.. and thsi, btw is why I like pure manual cars so much - not everyone can just jump in and play PS2 as they mash the gas and push buttons ;)

those z06 times seem disapointing, especially the 12.5, it should be able to do mid/high 11's no??

That is correct, savvy drivers are putting down mid 11s runs any day of the week... in fact you can run 11.44s into a 25mph head wind on the stock run flats if you know what you are doing .. ;)

Let's see:
Ford S-Max 2.5 turbo: 0-100 km/h in 7.9 s
Renault Espace 3.5 V6: 0-100 km/h in 8.1s
Opel Zafira OPC: 0-100 km/h in 7.8s
First gen NSX with autobox does 0-100 km/h in 6.9s, so yes, it's getting quite close. :P

RC, what does your car run down the 1/4 with current setup?
RC, what does your car run down the 1/4 with current setup?
My car or me? ;)
Bone stock after about 3 months ownership I managed to get the car to run a 13s @ about 104mph 1/4... I got out and one of the local legends (who has sent Hennessey, MTI and RSI cars down the 1/4 for their record runs) jumped behind the wheel and promptly clicked off a 12.2s run and said "Yeah pretty decent - but theres a bit more in it if I do clutchless shifts".
That's about as demoralising as it gets ... right? :P
Not so... my good friend was having his then modded Z06 tuned in (RSI rented the drag strip for some uber-turbo Supras to be tested) and his heads/cam/nitrous on street tyres (420rwhp on motor, 570rwhp on naws) managed a 12.8s with an amatuer at the wheel him...
The pro jumps in and clicks off a 11.7 on motor (lot of wheel spin) and a 11.00 @ 140mph or something like that on the gas.. (even more wheel spin).
So - in it's current form, my car (424rwhp) should be good for at least 11.7 right? Well the best I have managed is 12.2s (measured on GPS Data logging equipment, not 1/4 mile traps - the "pressure" of being on the line at the drag strip would no doubt have me blowing the launch :P) ... its not easy to paddle the bastard down the 1/4 - it's spin in wat ever gear you are in.. just mash the gas and hold on :P
The moral of the story... after 90bhp of power adders I can get my car to be as fast as a pro could get it when it was stock ;)
For comparison, the C6 Z06 is 440+rwhp in stock form.

Thank you for the rest gangajas  It's been a long time since I wanted to buy an episode of BM !!! They are quite disappointing with their "new" format... and while they used to test awesome cars before, now it's more "normal", no Enzo, just one ride in the CGT, no Veyron and no SuperBattle :(

Interesting that they dug way back and pulled in the 512. I wish the Gallardo got a better launch, to really get a feel how the old tech compared to the new.
Amazing how damn fast the Z06 really is....err...I mean the "Cor-le-vette"
Good find...thanks!
