Anti Virus/Spyware/Spam you are using? Rate 'em?

I'm on zonealarm 6.5.737 ...and it's locking up the PC twice daily. Be wary. (I'm on a 3.2P4 and 2GB Ram... no slouch).

I've read around, and PC Pro UK has rated PC Tool's Spyware Doctor as basically the best standalone anti-spyware software you can buy.

The question is... which antivirus/spam filter would go with it?

So what are you guys using, and how would you rate them?

Do exactly what the ratings say...get Spyware Doctor. Get's the job done perfectly, one second you have 200 malicious applications lurking on your PC, the next they are all gone. One of the best pieces of software out there.

After installing CCleaner there was never a single virus in my PC, it cleans all temp folders(and all other stuff I have no idea about) on every startup.

Plus I have microfoft antivirus, Spybot and NOD installed. Dont know if all of them are needed but I better be safe :)

When some crap got in my PC and I couldnt get rid of it the ONLY antivirus that was able to fight it was 14 days test version of Symantecs antivirus. Everytime. But after full clean I always uninstall it cause it slows down my PC dramatically, takes ~5 minutes to startup!

AVG Free Edition for anti-virus: great program, hardly uses any memory.

The only spyware stuff I ever run is Spybot - Search & Destroy, run the Immunize part of the program and it blocks thousands of malicious sites in your HOSTS file, so you never really have to do system scans if you keep that updated.

The reason why my security is always on real-time is because of a perpetual fear of hackers. I do a lot (and I mean 95%) of my personal monetary work online (sorting with banks, client payments, etc.), hence my paranoia.

I absolutely cannot afford to have somebody find out how to log into my accounts. :|

I've been reading around a bit. Everybody seems to agree that Kaspersky is the best antivirus there is, period. And then PC tools spyware doctor is the equivalent with regards to spyware and adware.

Now... what's the best damn firewall?

Kerio Personal Firewall is pretty good to be honest..
but there is nothing wrong with zonealarm.. its damn good as well.. just make sure what ever you use is the latest and greatest, and keep things up to date... ;)

I am on zonealarm. The latest version too. It locks up windows like the brooklyn brawler in a rick flair figure-four.

LOL! :lol: even after you set it up and what not.. try Kerio Personal Firewall then my sister uses it and i heard good things about it in general.. all i saw from it is when something tries to connect it asks you if to allow it or not, and if you want to put it into a sort of "allow" or "not allow" list.. you can give it a go i guess... :bah:

IMO.. Norton is the worse thing you could be using.. even if its free, I wouldn't use it.. :bad:
