Go buy it now.
I picked it up today and oh boy. It's one hell of a game. The controls are a bit wonky at first, but you get used to them quick. It's also a very pretty game.
It's not a super easy game, I'm doing it on Casual to get used to it and I've died repeatedly. It's pretty damn intense too, the sounds with all the action on screen is very very frantic. I've only put in about 2 hours, but I'm sure I'll be spending a hell of a lot more time on it.
It's easily the best game available for the 360 right now. The wait was definately worth it. Go get it now, you won't be dissapointed!
yeah my friend has been talking about that game forever. he got it a four days sooner then everyone else. signed up early or somthing. and its getting ready for the 24 tournament. i think they are giving away a car and other prizes.

Well, I beat it. The game isn't too long really.
After it's all said and done, the gameplay really does kickass. I haven't tried multiplayer as I don't have live and none of my friends have any interest in games. But from what I read, it's pretty good.
The story line is a real let down IMO. There are a lot of plot holes. A lot of things just are not expalained. Play the game and you'll see.
I won't be surprised if Gears of War 2 takes place before the first, story wise anyway.
The end boss was too easy to beat, seriously, a few well placed shots and a couple grenades, thats all it takes.
Also, I've never ever had a problem with my 360, not once. I've read all the horror stories, people paying $130 to fix it and whatnot. And it's always worried me. Well, after beating the game, I got a dirty disc error as I watched the credits. All I can say is that if it breaks, I'll have it fixed. But it'll be my last console from Microsoft. These things are to expensive to have problems like that. My original Xbox died on me, as did my PS2, $600 paperweights. Ridiculous I tells ya.

My friend bought a copy of this game, and has come over and played the game on my 360 a few times. As a matter of fact, he's in the living room playing it now. I completely agree with you 666fast, the graphics are stunning, the gameplay is pretty kickass, etc. The controls are a bit too slow for me though, I wish the aiming system was quicker, like Halo. Besides that, this is an awesome game, and I think the more I play it, the better I think it will be. I will probably purchase this game soon.

Yes, the game is stunning. I love it.
Although shortish, it's the coop and DM modes which should prove fun in the longterm.

well, that was quick; i dono if i've done that since Halo 1.
about the paperweights, somehow, i've managed to not have one system of mine ever break... but even if they did...
i didnt' own a playstation until I could pick up a new PS2 for under $100; and also until there was a game worth buying it over... (GT4) which saw me also buy the DFP for 40$ under MSRP new.
I didn't buy my xbox until i found one for $68 brand new; but i had already about 8 games by the time i bought it (roommates had an xbox)
Game Cube , i bought for $80 new, and bought it soley for Zelda: The windwaker; but have about 3 or 4 games for it
yeah i have never had a problem with any of my systems. I have to open and clean my PS2 once or twice but that is it. But Gears of War will be played within a weeks time for me :D

Saw an item about this game on the television a few months ago, it really looks awesome! And the multiplayer ought to be great as well! It's already been called the next Halo beater! :)

I rented it from Blockbuster for a week and that was enough for me. I love the single player game, the graphics were great, and the sound was cool. I enjoyed the single/co-op play, and the chainsaw was kick ass. However, I thought the multiplayer came up short. I didnt like that once you died you had to sit and wait for everyone else on you team to die. That got boring on XBOX Live real fast. I also didnt like that you could only play two people per 360, that means that to have a LAN party and have full teams you need to have 4 TVs and XBOX 360s, as opposed to Halo where you only need 2 TVs and 2 XBOXs. Great game, and I might buy it when it goes Platinum.
its the first game in a long time that ive played it on every difficulty and not got bored
