I drove an STi the other day, and while it had good grip, and respectable power, but in order to be so aggressive on teh road, it has severely sacrificed ride quality, NVH, and comfort. It is more like the Evo then I expected.
I now don't see myself wanting this car anymore :( sorry Scoobie; but it just wasn't meant to be

I agree with you on the STi. I drove one on and off for a week when I was thinking about getting one and while it has good power, grip, etc I couldnt drive it all day every day. It would be a good weekend car, but not a daily.
I cant think of anything else ATM

Think a legacy GT / spec-B will be more of a day to day ride with a healthy dose of fun.

what year STi was it? I drove the 06 and was extremely surprised by it.
I was disappointed by the 05 Mazda 3s though. i really would have thought that the Japanese could have made a car that allowed visibility out the rear window when backing up. The front suspension set up feels like if you're at speed and start throwing it into corners, you aren't going to be able to get the power down.

The one I drove was a 05 I believe. It was definitely fast and agile, I just couldnt see myself liking it that much after a couple months of owning it.

I drove the STI (model after the bug eyed one) and thought it was excellent, I could'nt fault it in anyway and thats my honnest oppinion with no favouritism involved. It may be a diffrent story on the road, but in the end its down to personal likes and dislikes of the driver.

it was an 05; id like to drive the 06...
the car just bounced around the potholes, and undulations, and creaked, and made obnoxious suspension noises on my favorite roads :( the NSX, and CGT just held thier composure purely over them with none of that.

Too true. For a car whose marketing slogan is "Zoom-Zoom", it is fairly unresponsive out of corners unless you literally put pedal to the metal. I also agree somewhat with the rear visibility.
