Yeah, because condoning rape is level-headed, right? I know that this is an emotive subject, but let us not lose sight of what is right and wrong.

In this case, with this type of criminal, absolutely. Why should these assholes get any sympathy. Would you idly stand by if this happened to your son or daughter? Be content that they get sent to prison, isolated from the other inmates and possibly paroled? Most likely they will do it again if given the chance. They knew what they were doing was wrong: "Prosecutors said the Web site alerted subscribers that its content was illegal and urged them to be discreet about their purchases." Im just waiting for the bullshit insanity plea claiming they were molested as children as justifacation of their actions.

IMO these people dont even deserve the slightest shred of humanity in their conviction. These arent car thiefs or troubled youth vandalising property, these are sick bastards that deserve the chair.

I'm not saying that what they did is right (far from it) or that they shouldn't be punished, just that I think that wishing that they get raped is somewhat ironic. It's like saying that you wish someone would murder a murderer.

They should go to jail for a very long time, no more, no less.

I think they should be given one chance at rehabilitation. I'm sure rehabilitation would work to a decent extent. However, if they reoffend, death penalty, because by re-offending, they will have proven themselves a waste of oxygen.

^To be frank, it's been proven that it costs more to try for the death penalty, and then to subsequently house the folks on death row and then kill them, than to simply send them off to jail for life. Cost is not the issue.

in China, they have 68 different crimes in which conviction can mean you get the death penatly, in the usa there is 1 crime and even then it has to be something os henaious and this and that before they even think of using it and then they let the fucker appeal his sentence and then he lives out the rest of his life in jail and me paying for it!! waste of money!!

well lets not turn it into a death penalty debate.. tho i see your point.. its a hard issue.. (the "justice" system doesn't always work, and people were sent to prison for things they didn't do.. and got released like 20 years later with a sorry note.. so its a hard issue..)
and since when china a role model? :lol: in Iran they have some other penalties too you wanna copy that as well? (not that i'm comparing the two..) but i can see what your saying really.. i personally do think there should be a death penalty.. but not for that sort of crime cause i think thats more of mental issue.. but for murder (if proven well well over reasonable doubt..) as well as terrorism.. and maybe other issues as well.. (i haven't really gave it much thought, as we dont have a death penalty for anything here.. the only one to ever been executed here was eichmann.. fucking nazi fucker got off easy if you ask me.. i would do a lot worse then just hang him!)

Transportation was actually considered a pretty good punishment considering the sentences were often commuted from death. Also, a lot of convicts stayed on after release and became rich.

A lot of these people are simply mentally disturbed. They should be punished for their actions, sure, but I think the law must serve a rehabilitative function. At least give them a chance at redemption.
