Schumacher must win! Any lesser position will not do justice for what is to be his final F1 race ever. He deserves to go out with a win, and only a win. It doesn't matter so much about Fernando Alonso winning or not winning the title. The main thing is that we want Schumi to win. Of course, Alonso doesn't deserve his title, so it would be best if he didn't finish. ;)

Fernando Alonso rides on the coat-tails of Renault engineers. He is a good driver, but he's not championship material. He also has a bad attitude. People with bad attitudes don't deserve to win championships.

Compared to Alonso, off the track, he is. He doesn't complain about random shit, he doesn't complain about his team, and he's never arrogant in victory.
Alonso is a good driver, but I just don't think he has that X-factor that we must demand of true champions.

^But still, there are many factors which make out a true champion, like consistency, ability to win against the odds (clearly inferior car, after an accident etc), ability to drive in rain... Ability to drive well on slicks is probably quite low down on the list.

F1 racing did not change remarkably after when the current tyres were implemented. I don't think there was a narrowing of field, nor were the champions well ahead of everyone else due to the slicks.

C'mon Michael git 'r done .. qually starts soon!
A report on the morning practice ...
Ferrari set the pace throughout Saturday morning’s final practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix, with Michael Schumacher in charge right up until the end, when Felipe Massa went quicker.
The two Ferraris ventured out again right at the end when times began to tumble as fuel loads were reduced and new tyres went on. Having dominated with a lap of 1m 11.925s, the first to beat Fernando Alonso’s 2005 pole time of 1m 11.988s, Schumacher nipped out in the closing minutes to reduce that to 1m 11.631s. But then Massa slipped in 1m 11.443s, to the delight of his countrymen in the stands.
Behind them, the rest were left a trifle breathless, rather as the Michelin runners had been in qualifying in Suzuka, though the gap was not as large. Jenson Button got closest to them in his Honda with a best of 1m 12.306s, with Robert Kubica on his tail for BMW Sauber in 1m 12.535s. The best Renault was Giancarlo Fisichella’s with 1m 12.567s, then came Rubens Barrichello on 1m 12.697s for Honda, Alonso on 1m 12.721s for Renault, and the McLarens of Kimi Raikkonen on 1m 12.723s and Pedro de la Rosa on 1m 12.780s. It seems likely, however, that we didn’t see Alonso’s maximum speed this morning.
Nick Heidfeld completed the top 10 for BMW Sauber with 1m 13.037s, chased by the Williams of Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg on 1m 13.205s and 1m 13.380s respectively. Scott Speed and Tonio Liuzzi went at it head-to-head all session in their Toro Rossos, at one stage setting exactly the same time. In the end the American shaded the Italian, 1m 13.455s to 1m 13.530s. Robert Doornbos was 15th for Red Bull with 1m 13.564s, but after an overnight engine change will get a 10-place grid penalty this afternoon.
He headed Ralf Schumacher who was Toyota’s quicker runner on 1m 13.642s, then came Takuma Sato for Super Aguri on 1m 13.814s, Tiago Monteiro for Spyker MF1 on 1m 13.832s, David Coulthard on 1m 13.944s for Red Bull and an unhappy Jarno Trulli on 1m 14.051s in the second Toyota. At the back came Spyker MF1’s Christijan Albers (1m 14.108s) and Sakon Yamamoto (1m 14.875s). The Japanese Super Aguri driver spun in Turn 7, but he wasn’t alone. Fisichella, Schumacher Snr and Rosberg all had spins too.

SHIT :o MS/Ferrari are going to have a very difficult race tomorrow....
As I understand, MS had a gearbox problem. Luckily, gearbox changes carry no penalties.. :)
EDIT: What the hell is it with Ferrari and extremely-rare technical failures in the two most crucial races of the season???? :x

10-21-2006, 04:29 PM
technical problems with schumi's car during these last 2 massively important races, coincidence?! i think not!
let the conspiracy theorists put their minds together and blame someone outside of the ferrari team, i dunno, lets say briatore ordered a couple of his well trained henchmen to sneak into the ferrari garage and and tinker with the cars? cause that's the only way ferrari is gonna salvage anything this season. this sux!

Indeed. Raikonnen and Trulli could be taken out by Alonso who will try to pass them, causing a massive pileup, which everyone until Michael Schumacher gets caught in. Massa gives Schumi the lead after the restart and he wins the race and the championship. 8)
By the way, what's with Massa's new wildly coloured racing outfit? It's coloured like the Brazilian flag. How fitting...

I still think MS can win this race, with FM in second.
I think it its quite self-explanatory that MS will be going full out the entire race. He was by far the fastest man in Q2, so theres no denying his pace. I'm betting on him being 1s. per lap faster than anyone, save FM.
Alonso won't put up a fight, because its not worth it from his perspective.
Provided no technical glitches occur, my money is on MS, because of the unique combination of circumstances: its his last race, has nothing to lose but everything to gain!
BRING ON THE BRAZILIAN GP!!!

Luck is involved in any sport / daily life activity. It is his effort that he puts in the sport that minimize that luck factor. But shit happens, that however, still doesn't hide the fact that he's easily the best driver on the grid today. Of you simply jumping in and provoke a verbal war in an important day shows that you are no worthy for a F1 fan.

The only racing i now watch on television is the dakar rally sometimes a bit of touringcar or rally.

The drivers are just like the car they drive, Schumi the best, ferrari the best, try to buy a 2004 ferrari with the same money you buy a 2004 Renault.Or go at the Gumball with a Megane, and look at the rush an Enzo causes...... Try to show at a high rise reunion in your Logan or Clio, while others show up in F430 and 360's...its not the same, its clearly, Renault will never be as good as FERRARI!!!

I just loved the way Doornbos let Schumi pass, he already said in the Dutch Media that he would help out Schumacher in every way possible! Now thats respect! And he performed better then Coulthard again!
Did anyone hear a strange sound near the end of the race, every time I heard it a Renault (alonso) was passing on the screen. Was there maybe something wrong with his engine?
Not long I guess before kubica gets his first win, he's a great driver. Skills and balls! :P

/\/\ LMAO
Your actually right about that LOL
But there are some reasons for that. Firstly Renault (not as a team) has had a lot of experience as engine supplier in the history. Then when they went into F1 with their own team they got Mike Gascoyne in, well we all know what he did and is capable of, except with toyota. Flavio Briatore was and still is the teamboss, he also has alot of experience because he has worked at Benetton for instance - which was unbeatable at a certain time, he also got Schumi in BTW. Flavio Briatore knew exactly who to get for his team when Renault started, so most of the engineers are British and some of them had worked at Benetton. Then theres the question about drivers, well you can say what you like but Alonso sure is a good driver, andknow with Kovalainen coming.
You can't compare a F1 car to the normal makers car. Its all about how much money theres been put into it and the right people behind the F1 Team.

Thanks Michael for the memories.
Alas, an eight championship was not to be. But it wasn't for want of trying - Michael gave it his all and his drive to fourth was among his best ever - his move on Raikkonen had me screaming for joy - an inch perfect move on another fantastic driver. And some losers believe that Michael can no longer overtake
Hopefully the Alonsos, Raikkonens, Kubicas will pick up on the traits that made him unique - blinding speed, fierce concentration and dedication to the task on hand, ability to mould the team around oneself, the ability to enjoy every win as if it was the first, the ability to show a human side - make mistakes and all - he was no computer.
Michael was a true champion the way Senna was before him - a man who defined Formula One.

The man starsts 10th. Then goes last, then Finishes 4th.
Nothing more needs be said.
He is THE Legend.
Could not have said it better myself.
He didn’t win the title or even the race. Indeed he didn’t even make the podium. However, Michael Schumacher’s farewell drive in Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix illustrated the grit, skill and determination that has made him the greatest driver Formula One racing has ever seen.
The odds were stacked against the Ferrari star from the outset after technical problems in qualifying at Interlagos left him only tenth on the grid. However, an excellent start saw him up to sixth place by the time the safety car intervened following Williams’ Nico Rosberg’s early accident.
Soon after the race restarted, Schumacher dived down the inside of Giancarlo Fisichella’s Renault to seize P4, but as he exited the Senna S he appeared to lose the back end of the car, the Italian promptly regaining the position. The cause of the slide quickly became clear - a left-rear puncture thought to have been caused by debris on the track.
Schumacher limped back to the pits to take on fuel and fresh rubber, but when he rejoined he was running 19th - and last. However, he was immediately back up to speed, slamming in fastest sector times and slicing his way past backmarkers. His progress slowed somewhat when he once more found himself behind Fisichella in the closing stages, but the Renault driver was eventually forced into a mistake by Schumacher’s relentless pressure, running wide at Turn 1 and surrendering fifth place in the process.
McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen - the man who will replace Schumacher at Ferrari - was the next target, and the Finn defended aggressively to maintain fourth place. It took a special move from Schumacher, the pair going side-by-side into Turn 1 just inches apart, with the seven-time champion ultimately emerging ahead.
That left him chasing Jenson Button for a podium, but with just two laps remaining there simply wasn’t time to catch the Honda, despite Schumacher's penultimate lap being the fastest of the race, over half a second quicker than team mate Felipe Massa’s best.
Schumacher’s competitive Formula One career may be over, but true to form, the great man entertained us to the last. Thank you Michael.

Well done to Schumacher, who drove a brilliant race despite setbacks. 4th is a good result considering the circumstances. No Brazilian had won the Brazilian GP since Senna in '93 until Massa did it this year. Well done Massa. As for Alonso, well, you can't fault him for winning two titles back-to-back, but he ain't getting any more!

Screw the championship. A drive like that will suffice :D to quote David Hobbs "What's that? His 76th fastest lap this race?"
I felt a great deal of sadness when i saw him congratulating Massa. I know he was elated for him, winning his home GP and being the first Brazillian in 13 years to win it, but i knew he really wanted to be up there on top of the podium one last time.
I don't think it will really sink in for him until testing starts.
For me, Schumi's retirement vastly overshadows Fucktard's championship. HOpefully Raikonnen can put an end to this in the Ferrari next year.

At least FAlonso didn't win a world championship trying to take any body out of the race. Anybody that has watched Schumi's racing style over the years would have to agree he has mixed good driving with blatant dirty tactics.
This FAlonso bashing is not warranted as the best drivers in the world have been racing for the last 2 years. You don't win unless you have the best combination of talent, team, tyres and luck.

You have a fairly liberal definition of "dirty tactics". F1 is a competition and all drivers are competitive. Schumacher is just one of the more competitive of drivers, thus a lot of attention is focused on him.
