In a lawsuit filed September 13, she and her lawyer said that while she was hospitalized and under medication, she granted Mason power of attorney to negotiate the sale of the couple's story to a publisher in New York, and Mason struck a deal for $500,000.

But she said Mason used the money to buy a house in his name only, and later evicted Wilbanks from the home.

She is seeking $250,000 as her share of the home, and $250,000 in punitive damages for alleged abuse of the power of attorney.

She will lose. Mason had power of attorney. He was under no contractual agreement to give her half the cash. He sold her story and got the cash. Too bad. I also doubt that she can say she suffered actual financial loss as a result of Mason's actions. Punitive damages are a bullshit compensatory method. In any case, Mason deserves punitive damages more.

If she was impaired when signing the power of attorney agreement, she can sue the lawyer who wrote it up for her, for negligence. She will win and get lots of money. But she was obviously not impaired, or her lawyer would have sued the only lawyer as well (unless it was the same lawyer - if so, she is stupid and doesn't deserve money).

She will lose. All she wants is publicity so she can write another book.
