8 strikeouts (well, it looked like 9 vs. Jeeter) and 5 hits in 7 2/3 inning for the man - Kenny Rogers!

they had no idea what hit them.... we played consistant hits, and one home run to score 6 runs....

truly one of the most exciting games to watch in terms of total dominance, amazing pitching, and well execited plays! Can they take Game 4 today to move on in the playoffs?

I sure hope so, and i'll be watching today! :)

-------
Tigers vs. Athletics Game 1
TIgers take advantage of an early error, and run 3 runs in a 2 out inning, after a solo home run, and RBI the previous inning.

great fielding holds off all base runners on the Athletics, as they leave 12 men on without scoring until the 8th inning with a sacrifice RBI.

The Tigers still show superior pitching vs. the Athletics pitching. Game 2 tomarrow at 8pm EST :)

--------
Game 4 (Detroit-Comerica Park)
An early lead by the A's doesn't worry the Tigers, or their fans tonight. Tigers slowly gain ground to tie the score at 3 runs a piece, often both teams leaving runners in scoring position, including loaded bases on walks. Hopes of a few runs faded with an infield dubble play performed nicely by the Athletics.

It all came down to the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs with Magglio Ordonez up to bat, and two base runners. He gave a great show with a Home Run to take the ALCS in 4 games! What a showing by this amazing Detroit team!

Its any guess who they will play, as the Mets and Cardinals could swing either way.. but St. Luis lead the series 3 games to 1 now... this is playing out to be a meeting of destiny reminiscant of the 1968 Tigers World Series victory!

In 1968, the Tigers needed to win it for the city
In 1984, nothing could stop the team, and won it for the team
in 2006, This one is for the fans who never gave up

rogers prob. had one of his best games against the NYY, don't count out the clutch of jeter tho.

also who cares, anyone jumping on the A's bandwagon?

Oh, Jeter did fine... hes a Kalamazoo, MI native you know (and they hate him since long before this year LOL )

Of course its the pitching of Kenny Rogers, and most of the rest of our pitching staff... hell, even today, it was completely hitless through 5 2/3 innings.

the Yankees go home tonight, and the Tigers officially advance to the next round.

this is great!

the national anouncers said "Yankees in 4" but after the last 2 games, they had to admit that perhaps the tigers were the superior team, and perhaps have enough to win the series!

by the party after this series, youd almost think the Tigers won the series already :)

Great hitting from Brandon Inge with 3/4, and on base 4 times tonight (i think thats right)

and also, stupendous pitching from Nate Robertson! After allowing the bases to be loaded, a pep talk from Manager, Leyland lead to 3 straight strikeouts leaving the Athletics scratching thier heads!

I gotta give it to the Tigers though, they out played the Athletics in every facet of the game. And our most important asset wasn't there. . . starting pitching. With the exception of Harden and Haren, it wasn't there. Harden got lucky out of a lot of jams, Loaiza should've been lifted long before the 2 run homer.

Yeah, we definitely missed Mark Ellis in this case. With him, those errors would've been cut down as well as a bunch of double plays that should've been turn. Who knows what would've happened there.

Nevertheless, great games, that Tigers are a lot better team than I expected going into this. I always thought our pitching and our bullpen was good, Tigers one up the A's there.

OAKLAND, CALIF. - Ken Macha managed the Oakland Athletics into the AL championship series, yet it still wasn't enough to save his job.

Macha was fired by the Athletics on Monday, two days after the West champions were swept out of the playoffs by Detroit.

sad how getting to the ALCS still nets getting fired :(

Frank Thomas 0:13 really hurt the team... he could've played quite a few pivitol runs if he could just even get on base... but its not all his fault; of course.

the Athletics definately had similar hitting, but just couldn't bring the men home... a good team, for sure... but this is the Tigers we saw back in July... that is just a monster to compete against!

I think it was the cases of Frank Thomas and Nick Swisher going 0 for Infinity, but more importantly was the lack of Mark Ellis' defense. Who knows what would've happened if those double play were turn or those throwing error never happened?

Yeah, too bad that Macha got fired. I liked him too, apparently Billy Beane didn't. But as an Athletics fan. . . "In Billy we trust".
