hes got no rev limit range ;) ....... exactly what kubica had when he was a test driver .... he was on the top of the board aswell .... and now just look at his GP performance in the previous races .... if he dose the best drive of his life . he'd end up in 6th place ;) .....

A lot closer at the front than I originally expected. I thought the Ferraris would be a good distance ahead. Possibly Raikkonen and Heidfeld are running a tad lighter but great job nonetheless.

Looks like the addition of Kubica has made Heidfeld step up his game. He seemed to be comfortable in the background when a slow Villenueve was around.

I was exciting to see Alonso get into the pits and leave with barely enough time to start his flying lap - he made it with less than 2 seconds to spare. Cool!

I am dreading tomorrow's announcement as it looks highly likely that Michael will bow out. Crap - sad to see such a paragon of excellence leave us.

On our TVs the distance look big but in reality it was no more then .2, which is dead close in race situation, besides the aero effect is huge even with that distance.

ok it does have no rev limit your right. but i would bet any amount of money that his car was not legal weight. ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY. you can take the weight out of schumi's car and he will blow your mind with the time he can prob. put down in a illegal car :wink:

Yea at the speeds reached around Monza, and the fact you're running bare minimum downforce to begin with, it's not entirely unbelievable that Alonso could've affected Massa (though it is definitely questionable). Alonso was on a a warmup lap as well, after having just pitted for fresh tires.

The full decision of the stewards

A report was received from the race director that stated that the driver of car no. 1, Fernando Alonso, had impeded another driver during qualifying, namely Felipe Massa, car no. 6.

The stewards, after hearing the explanation of both the drivers, their team managers, and having seen video evidence and data supplied by Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, find that:

1. Fernando Alonso was on his out-lap and, having been caught by Felipe Massa, did impede him;

2. To impede another driver during the qualifying practice session is an offence (Article 116b of the 2006 Formula 1 Sporting Regulations);

3. Such actions may not have been deliberate.

The stewards determine that a breach of the regulations has occurred during qualifying practice and by virtue of the provisions of the 2006 Formula 1 Sporting Regulations Article 112 order that the best three laps set by Fernando Alonso in the third period of qualifying be deleted.

Great race!!

His 3rd race and already a place on the podium. Robert Kubica was fantastic today, especially at the beginning of the race, when by the time he finished the first corner he was 3 places up. He also had a lot of luck with Alonso's engine blowing up, that doesn't happen very often. And Massa, who was right behing him ran off the tarmac, damaged his car and was forced to visit the pits. From then on it was a cruise for Kubica, with a 8 second advantage and ~10 laps to go he couldn't waste the opportunity. BMW Sauber still need to improve, their pit stops aren't as quick as the rivals.

Schumacher couldn't have asked for a better scenario. He drove very well and deserved the 10 points, his main rival Alonso having to forfeit the race due to engine problems. 2 points difference with only 3 races to go should make for a scorching season finale. It's just a shame it will be Schumacher's last :(

honestly, I don't think we'll see anybody touch Michael's records in our lifetimes... I could be mistaken... but what a wild trip he's taken all racing fans.

F1 will never be the same w/out him, in his Scuderia Ferrari Tifosi style. I'm very sure his family will be very glad to have so much time with him for the first time.

I must say... the commentary felt as if they were putting him out to pasture :( making boysterous comments such as "the old MS didn't use to make those mistakes" which is utter BS.... he's crashed out many times, he's locked up many times since his F1 debut. He's not perfect 100% of the time... but he is very fast most of the time...

I do wonder if he'll make a return in some time... but i doubt it.

Well, Micheal to me is the Greatest of All Time. And by that mean technical driver. I dont think anyone knows "the car" better then Micheal. Once he is strapped in, he is a machine. In my opinion, not trying to start "who is the best" argument. :wink:

I forgot to record the race last night and i turned on the replay just in time to hear Schumacher's announcement :x The one fuckin race i absolutely had to see and i miss it :x

3 races to go, 2 points off from Alonso...i would say an engine failure today surely seals up a full fledged choke on Alonso's end.

Would i be shocked to see Alonso pull an Adelade and try to take out Schumi at Suzuka if he was losing? maybe a little, but most of my money is going to ride on him just losing focus :D
