There is a guy who comes in to my work to buy parts who owns a tattoo shop. He's absolutely covered in tats and scars. Most of the scars are pretty small and look nowhere as disgusting as some of tose pics. In fact, you culd easily mistake them for a tattoo. He even has those metal implants. Two on his forehead to make horns! LOL

FWIW, he's a super cool guy, he's very nice. His Karmann Ghia is super cool too! LOL

I don't mind it, I certainly wouldn't do it though. I'm of the belief that it's your body and you should do whatever you want with it.

It's worth noting that some cultures use scarification as a ritual. Check out the crocodile people, it's a rite of passge into manhood.

whyy you'd wanna do this to yourself

because tats and peircings are too normal anymore. So far, this is pretty unique and these people are lost in some kind of quest to be individuals. But, in the quest to be individual, you inadvertantly fall into a group of people similar to you. So you lose that uniqueness that you so desperately sought.

New forms of self expression are ultimately lost once it picks up popularity. I can't see this gaining a whole lot of steam with anyone but emo kids, but then again i think the same thing has been said of tattoos and peircings.

I think some of the artwork is quite interesting and fairly well detailed although I could never imagine wanting to have this done to me. A tattoo would be just fine, no need to remove a bunch of skin. Whatever floats your boat though.
