Ford Pinto (1971-1980)
One of the best selling cars in the 70s is famous for something much worse than a plastic bubble and three wheels. It was involved in a serious safety scandal. Ford's main problem with the Pinto was the fuel tank, which would burst into flames in rear-end collisions. Of course, Ford knew about, so they made a little cost-benefit analysis to decide whether to fix the problem or just to leave it as it was. You can look at the famous and often mentioned in business ethic texts cost-benefit analysis below:
BENEFITS
Savings: 180 burn deaths, 180 serious burn injuries, 2,100 burned vehicles. Unit Cost: $200,000 per death, $67,000 per injury, $700 per vehicle. Total Benefit: 180 X ($200,000) + 180 X ($67,000) + $2,100 X ($700) = $49.5 million.
COSTS
Sales: 11 million cars, 1.5 million light trucks. Unit Cost: $11 per car, $11 per truck. Total Cost: 11,000,000 X ($11) + 1,500,000 X ($11) = $137 million. As you can see, Ford management came to the conclusion that it was much cheaper to pay the law suits, medical expenses, certain amount for pain and suffering, only $49.5 mio. Comparing it with $137 mio. for fixing the tank, it is absolutely logical that they decided not to! Right?

LOL!

The best looking Vector was the W2.

I dont like how the W8 looks, it is just too much. Its too wild. Though the engine was beast and the interior is oddly "unique", i never was able to get into it.

The M12 is just hideous.... it looks like some clay that was hanging on a drying line, began the stretch, and the sun hardened it - i dont know what they were thinking

the W2 was a prototype in every sence of the word; and 10 years of testing lead directly to the W8; both aerodynamically, powertrain, colors, seats, functions, and build process and quality.

the W2 was very much Jerry's car, wheras the W8 was very much David Koska's car. Everything that was learned in the wind tunnel went into those cars.

the ride quality is nothing short of plush and amazing, and the power of the engine is unending! unlike many supercars, the power is available very early, and there is no feeling of taper-off on the top end of the RPM scale.

the W8 used a different engine block then the W2.... teh W2 was a donnovan aluminum block, where the W8 wasa Rodeck block which is resleveable.

major differences in style between the W2 and W8 were in the rear side; and lower front; along with the deletion of the gills to place more aero-efficiant venting.

interor? major differences was that there weren't wires all over, and the electroluminesounce display was fitted; and a vector spec'ed cd audio system.

ultimately, the W8 was the better car; but needed the W2 to exist before hand.... before being dismantled by the indonesians; there were over 200,000 miles on the W2's odometer.

I don't know how they make them in Australia, but every time I see one here it just makes me sick in my stomach, seriously.

korean cars are a 1/2 step above chinese cars... they are quite frankly, underpowered, over exaggerated, and too cheaply built (not in terms of the cost of labor)

Yeah, plenty. They're quite popular amongst the ricer community. They're ugly, but I wouldn't rank them amongst the worst cars. It lacks an outrageously ugly element.

Korean cars have dramatically improved their quality, so I've heard. I'm still a bit sceptical. In any case, everything else has improved, except for maybe some VW models.
