this isn't the full segment form the show "Futureweapons".
This thing has recorded a confirmed kill from 2400 meters, through tin and was designed to take out light armored personnel carriers
It is capable of firing explosive rounds for those really stubbon vehicles
and the best part is....it's semi automatic
2700 fps....you don't have time to hear the shot

The US doesn't need to worry about its enemies getting hold of Barretts, as the Hungarian Gepard is also available, and that is more powerful and more accurate, not to mention that there is also a 14.5mm version that is twice as powerful as the Barrett.

Don't you know how the US anything likes to do things? 14.5 mm...eh petty stuff. Read up on the Barrett XM109 let me give you a hint on it's specs, 25mm payloads. A-10 30 mm Avenger canon and F-16 20 mm Vulcan canon for comparison

Heavy Stuff I must say.
If I'm not mistaking one of these is being used in Michael Mann's latest movie Miami Vice. And it makes HUGE holes in cars, human body and last but not least it takes a big piece out of the backseat as well. I guess it just flies straight through (the whole damn car  )
Such fire power used being used to take out huge animals, and now they just blow human beings with it straight to piece. I have seen a video of a US sniper operating in Iraq before, he beheads his insurgents with one single shot.
btw: Miami Vice is a great movie, I didn't expect it being that good though. The photography is awesome and the soundtrack is superb. Boys with toys :-)

hmmm given that the barrett is in use with most special forces units in the (western?) world, i'd rather have that than a hungarian rifle i've never heard of tbh... btw that XM109 sounds like its 1 nasty rifle to be on the receiving end of...
also, what kind of animals do u wanna kill with a .50 rifle? whales?? cos i dont think it'd leave that much left of a bear either...

Well there is definately some "huge" game hunting going on with this but the key note is the ability to take a target out from a very long range away, 1+ miles when that pea shooter just won't make the cut.
Biggest use for .50 is sport shooting at extreme ranges. Barrett puts out their own magazine which really reveals a lot about the whole .50 scene. These are amazing "tools" and have helped save lives and scare the shit out of the ememy
Closest thing I came to owning a .50 was a Desert Eagle it was a cheap way into getting into big caliber toys.

I don't know much about weapons, the only one I carry is the one in my pants  Okay seriously, enough talk about my pea shooter.
With bullets like this one, if a body shot, does it just go straight through the victim, leaving the possibility of survival? I'm assuming the snipers all go for the heatshot?
Thanks.

well the vid i've seen (was in afghanistan) and that was also talked about, shows bodies just being totally ripped apart, kinda like putting a firecracker in a banana... so no it's not absolutely necessary to go for a headshot with this rifle. Also at longer distances i dont know if it's accurate enough, despite having an amazing range it's not the most accurate sniper rifle in the world (beacuse it's semi-auto)

I think I remember seeing the video you're talking about, I might have even posted it originally. I don't remember the specs, but it was a sniper video. There was some debate over whether it was actual compat footage versus someone sniping an animal or something.
Now that I think about it, I think the beginning of this video said it was an explosive round...I guess that really would ruin your day.

LoL, I agree :-) No use of carrying a kevlar vest nor helmet as well.
The video I have seen was shot in Iraq, I'm 100% sure of that. It was made by some French journalists who were following some young insurgents. They were trying to take a US sniper out who was positioned in an hotel. They tried to take him out with a rocket launcher but instead of that he got his head blown to pieces. It was incredible what fire power this sniper had his hands on.
And I have even seen another video, it was some live footage made at the beginning of the Golf war. The sniper was shooting at some Iraqi's who were hiding in a small bunker in the middle of the desert. This sniper reported that he had been shooting straight through the walls and doors and that he hadn't seen any movement ever since :o
They even use bullets which got enhanced with uranium and they don't stop for anything.
I don't know whether they mention that in the video. Personally, I think there is a big chance that these .50 bullets are reinforced with uranium because they have to be able to penetrate through light armoured vehicles.

You really are a world-class turd. Frodefe asked the question about what the US and her allies will do if/when the "badguys" get hold of these, and I simply answered that there are easier ways of getting a rifle that is as powerful, more accurate and is designed in an Eastern-Bloc country. Which do you think are more likely to fall into enemy hands: an American gun or a rifle of a country that shared its military arsenal/designs with Russia, which is a country well-known for stockpiles of its guns just walking out the door? This have nothing to do with the US, so don't try and turn it into that with your same old crap.
Harry: that is all well and good, but the Barrett XM109 in 25mm makes less power than the Gepard 14.5mm round. The new Barrett is basically using a grenade (the destructive power of the round comes from it being explosive, not because it's a bullet in the traditional sense).
For everyone's information, the video that purports to be a Barrett shooting Taliban snipers is fake. It's actually Rock Chucks being shot with a .17HMR.
Don't believe everything that you read on the Internet.

despite having an amazing range it's not the most accurate sniper rifle in the world (beacuse it's semi-auto)
Snipers going after single targets aren't going to use it's semi auto capabilities.
The semi auto part somes in handy when taking out a personnel carrier or when scattering a small patrol into large red mists  Besides, .50 cal @ 2700fps just needs to rustle your ear hairs before the shockwave coming off it ruptures your ear drum :prr: hit in the leg, and you don't have one. You just bleed out because your femoral artery is decimated. If the entry wound doesn't kill you, the exit wound will.
And someone please get gigdy a host!!! :D
Cowboy: the range they go to in the segment is a private range and uranium and explosive tipped bullets are availible only through the military. But they do have clips of the aforementioned bullets hitting a target on a highspeed camera :D

The local gun shop near me has a Barret. They let me hold and it's one heavy mofo. I can't imagine the recoil of it. I've seen .50 cal rifles being fired, I'd imagine it compares to being kicked in the shoulder by a horse. The price on the Barret was just under $9k. I have no idea what the exact model number it is they had though. They also had a few machine guns, heh, who needs an Uzi? $900!
I've shot a Desert Eagle. Very over rated gun. It's weight absorbs a lot of the recoil and with a proper hold on the gun it's not too bad. Though, with repeated shooting your wrist will get sore. The worst thing is that they aren't accurate for shit, not in my experience anyway. I couldn't hit the side of a barn from the inside with one.

That's strange, as the Desert Eagle is amongst the most accurate of all "off the shelf" guns and is perfect for target shooting. You have to hold it tightly though, and if you "limp wrist" a shot it will go all over the place, and can jam the gun. It really is the kind of gun that you need to spend a lot of time with, tbh.

Which do you think are more likely to fall into enemy hands: an American gun or a rifle of a country that shared its military arsenal/designs with Russia, which is a country well-known for stockpiles of its guns just walking out the door?
Uhm - it's patently obvious to those in the know - but you took great pains to point out any and all definicies in the "US" version vesrsus the "enemy" version....
This have nothing to do with the US, so don't try and turn it into that with your same old crap.
Yet you went to great pains to emphasis the "enemy" one is better and more accurate and more accesable... tahn the US one -- seems you made it about the US long before I even opened the thread :)

Well the thing about this one is the way the barrel is set in the reciever. It's set to absorb alot of the recoil, hence why it can be used as semi auto. The Muzzle Brake also bleeds some of the energy of the shot by directing it back, instead of letting it push back from the front of the muzzle like most rifles.

2) If this gun is so useless, why is every other country purchasing them? Sweden was the first country to buy them. It was a Canadian sniper team that took out the insurgents from 2430 meters through a tin cover.
3) in the segment the gun is going through 3 feet of cinder block form well over 1000 meters and penetrating a thick plate of steel from nearly the same distance. With regular bullets. not explosive tips.
4) It's a multi purpose sniper rifle. who gives a flying fuck if 14.5 mm makes more power than a 25mm. who has the longer, more accurate range in under 10 seconds delivering 10 rounds down range?
You aren't going for muzzle velocity in a sniper rifle. You are going for effective accuracy from as far away as possible. hell, effective accuracy is the point of any firearm. But 2700 fps does make for a flatter trajectory after 1+ miles :D

Zf: why would I take it to the Political Forum? There is no Political stance or bias on my part. This isn't about Politics, just me saying that there are more accurate rifles than the Barrett, some that use a Russian cartridge, and some that use the .50 BMG, just as the Barrett does.
The Barrett is a very capable rifle, but it is also the only one in this class that most people know of, yet pretty much every country makes a .50 Anti-Material rifle, from England through to South Africa through to China. This is a discussion forum, and I was discussing this rifle in context, and it isn't my fault if certain people (not yourself) want to throw their toys from the pram.

Maybe it's me. I couldn't hit shit with it. With a .45 the same day, I had a three inch spread after 16 shots at 25 yards. Not bad considering I have very little experience with handguns. Soon to change though, permit has been applied for.
BTW, as a target gun, a Desert Eagle would be a terrible choice for your wallet! Ever seen what the ammo costs? LMAO
A day at the range will run into the hundreds just for ammo.

Yeah, in .50AE and .44 Cor-Bon the Rounds are about a Buck each, which is not that bad, but not that great when you take in the fact that you have to shoot a lot of shots to get used to the gun. The reason why it can jamb and be inaccurate is that it's gas recoiled, unlike 99% of handguns, and that means that the whole action needs to cycle fully in a straightline, and if anything interupts that the accuracy goes to hell. Basically the gun is great for hunting and silhouette shooting, but terrible for self-defence.

I didn't start shooting real guns until i was about 20 and my roomate bought a Taurus .44 Revolver. I couldn't hit a god damn thing for the first 10 shots
A few months back, my current roomate and i went shooting with his parents. Two .44 revolvers and a Glock 40. I was 2 inches low and right but clustered prettey tight with all 3 of them. Couldn't figure out for the life of me why i couldn't hit the bullseye until i went shooting with my coworker to sight in his 300 Winmag (fucking christ that thing hurts!) Now that day was fun :D Both my roomate and i hit dead center with his M1 Grand from 116 yards, open sight :D But it was switching to my coworkers .22 Ruger that i realized why my pistol shots are always low.
When i shoot a rifle, i sight with my right eye. And for some reason i was using my left to sight with the pistols :? What diff does it make? Well, point your finger at something in the room using both eyes. Now close your dominant eyeand see where your finger seems to pointing, then switch to your weak eye. Most people will see a difference

I was looking at SA 1911 .45's as the potential purchase. Nice guns for the money. I was looking at the Mil Spec in particular.
There are a few others I'm interested in as well from Charles Daly and Kimber.
We'll see, it'll be a few weeks before I make a choice, so it's not like I don't have time to decide.

It's not just "for me" - but it is common courtesy to allow people to be aware of you current location (country at least) while trying to participate in a community and conduct discussions.
After all, what good would it be if you aksed "Know any good BMW service centers around?" And some one answered - sure, down at the corner of Main and Voortrekker road you'll find a great BMW dealer - it would be of nop use to you if you don't live outside Kuilsrivier would it?
It's also nice to know how great of a mastery of the english language people have so you can conduct decent and appropriate discussions.
So - if you pulled your liberla cone head out of your pompous arese long enouhg to be able to catch a breath of fresh air, you would know and understand that its just fukcing good manners to know your audience.
However, maybe it is, as you love nothing better than putting people in neat little boxes, don't you? Is that all that your brain can digest?
Uhm - again - you uncouth unsocial trilobite - it's good manners and polite to be aware of where your audience is from.
I didn't go to great lengths to point out the origins, laaitle, just that there are alternatives to the iconic Barrett.
You did - its in your original post.
You then went on a pro-American rant by saying that I was knocking your adopted country (funny how you didn't answer my question about your Nationality or place of birth, isn't it?)
There was nothing pro-american about anythign I posted - it was simply a counter point to yet another of you thinly and poorly disguised anti-us rants.
There is nothing secret about my naitonality or country of birth - never has been, and never will be.
You seem to be going to great lengths to hide yours though.
and generally acting like the supercilious person that you are.
Not even worth a reply.

There's an airsoft rifle copy of the barrett, weighs over 20 kilos and uses larger BB pellets. I'd love one, but the cost is also much higher, something like $2000 (used to be $5000).
I used to have a PSG1 (looks awesome) with the muzzle tip like the Barrett's. I had it running at 450fps or so. Was an awesome gun, broke a guys nose with it when I shot him from close range (oooer...). Although it was in a legitimate airsoft match, so we all knew of the dangers...
Nice clip tho' :)

lol at the risk of getting caught up in yet another useless discussion here on JW, and maybe even stirring it up again, i seriously dont think the post made by teflontron was anti-us. If i say there's a more powerful car than the Saleen S7 twin turbo produced by Bugatti and that the bugatti also has a nicer interior, for instance, its not an anti-US post its a comparison between 2 products of which 1 happens to be from the US.
Seriously, where in this post do you see anything anti-US?
The US doesn't need to worry about its enemies getting hold of Barretts, as the Hungarian Gepard is also available, and that is more powerful and more accurate, not to mention that there is also a 14.5mm version that is twice as powerful as the Barrett.
Barrett itself acknowledges the M107 isn't the most accurate weapon in the world, they also produce a bolt-action rifle (also .50 i believe) that they themselves say is more accurate than the M107. The most accurate rifles in the world aren't .50s i believe, they're mostly 7.62 bolt-action sniper rifles afaik.
not that any of this is gonna convince RC45, since i'm saying it

Well, if RC45 thinks that I must do something, then I must do it. Afterall, he is the Lord and Master of the Universe and all that is in it.
That being said, I find it implausible that anyone could possibly think that my original post, or any of them since, are anti-American, as all that I did, as gucom pointed out, was mention that there are better choices than the Barrett and that those choices are far more likely to fall into the enemy's hands, so there is no need to worry about the Barrett. Somehow this gets turned (yet again) by RC45 into someone saying something bad about the US. Oh, and talking of commone courtesies, RC45: learn how to type, spell and use Grammar.

The fact of the situation is this: that you cannot stand the fact that I am right in what I am saying, and right in what I said, so you get all worked up over yourself and start spewing banal insults at me in the hope of trying to get me to do the same, and as a way of making yourself feel better. You make a point of using eloquant language and presenting yourself as a toffynosed pompous uppercrust snob - no doubt because your roots are in the squalid public housing estates of the filthy hidden underside of the british ghetto...

Nothing to dig up.
You decided to try "pretend you're not from the UK" to hopefully make it seem as thouhg I despise your liberal views just because I assumed the liberal view was related to your being in the UK...
When in fact I despise your cowardly views - well, just because of your views.
Oh - and also validated I was correct all along - as much as you tried to "catch me out".
And regarding "dig up" - google and "teflontron ross" is all thats needed...

If I have so many anti-US posts then find some of them. Oh, you can't? You disappoint me.
For you to even imagine that your spelling and grammar are better than mine suggests to me that you are either blind, a liar or delusional. It's definitely two out of the three.
Where did I try and pretend that I'm not from the UK? I simply told you that I saw no need to fill in the space for my location. However, this again gets twisted in your little mind into something else. I'm also glad that you have never tried to pass yourself off as knowing anything (for that would be a lie too). Run along now and play like the Afrikaaner Redneck that you are, and wave your fake-American flag just that little bit higher tonight. As I said, you have no loyalties: at least none that are strong enough to have stopped you abandoning your motherland and pretending to be something that you're not.
Do you hear that? What can it be? Oh, it's die stem van Suid Afrika....

And you are basing your assessment on what? The intardnet?
Where did I try and pretend that I'm not from the UK?
Well - this was your statement:
RC: I don't live in the UK, you ignorant prick.
Pretty strong denial.
I simply told you that I saw no need to fill in the space for my location. However, this again gets twisted in your little mind into something else.

Run along now and play like the Afrikaaner Redneck that you are, and wave your fake-American flag just that little bit higher tonight.
And here we have the root cause of your arsehole attitude.. you seem to hate me because you think I am an afrikaner... so here we have you pretending to be the high and mighty world loving liberal - and you have prejudged me as an "ignorant rockspider van der merwe redneck (although if you knew anything at all, you would know that rooinek - redneck - is a derogatory term used BY afrikaners against english speaking south africans. - so again you just demonstrated your ignorance.)
I am guessing you have visited South Africa once or twice - or you yourself are an expat and harbour deepset hatred for all things ZA.
As I said, you have no loyalties:
Is this the same view you hold of all those Pakis that moved to the UK - as part of the Commonwealth freedom of movement and emigration pacts?
Do you despise all those jamaicans who call the UK home - because they "abandoned" their homelands?
Seems to me you are just another liberal racist mother fucker. Caught out in your own world of lies and hatred.
at least none that are strong enough to have stopped you abandoning your motherland and pretending to be something that you're not.
I guess you are too bitter and angst filled to even consider that some people want to move around the world and relocate - of course thats unless you feel that is wrong and evil.

Since when does "I don't live in the UK" mean the same as "I'm not from the UK"? Did you pass reading comprehension at school?
Your MO is simple: anytime someone disagrees with you you have to find something to label them as. If someone says that not all Muslims are Terrorists then you call them a Terrorist-Supporter. If someone says that they believe in reforms then they are a wishy-washy Liberal. If someone says that they want better Gas milage then they are a tree-hugger, and if someone calls you out on what you are, then you try and discredit them as a racist who "hates Pakis".
Nothing wrong with moving fom country to country, but there is something wrong when bitter people preach that we should love America as the holiest of the holy when they aren't even American themselves. Grow an identity already, poes.
Since when does "I don't live in the UK" mean the same as "I'm not from the UK"? Did you pass reading comprehension at school?

More bullshit - considering I have always said "not all muslims are terrorists" - so try another one.
If someone says that they believe in reforms then they are a wishy-washy Liberal.
Reforms? WTF are you on about? You liberal jackass?
If someone says that they want better Gas milage then they are a tree-hugger,
Nope - never said that - but I have said if you complain about drilling for more oil your a pot smoking treehugger.

Nope - you are the one who decided that emigration and immigration are cowardly acts.
Nothing wrong with moving fom country to country,
Now you are contradicting yourself?
but there is something wrong when bitter people preach that we should love America as the holiest of the holy when they aren't even American themselves.
Now you are spewing utter crap - I don't care or even want you to like the USA - in fact, the less you like the place the better - but there is no reason to use every opportunity you can to make snide and sarcastic remarks and throw derogatory statements or even insinuate same... every chance you get.
Grow an identity already, poes.
Hmmm. what's with the continual references to afrikaans?
You still think I am an afrikaner?
Man - you are the most pathetic person online - you have gone out of your way to foster a hatred for another person just because you have mistaken their origin and identity... that makes you the most hate-filled racist on this forum.
I on the other hand just dislike you for no reason other than you are an arse-hole.

Well, given that this whole thread went to hell when you said that I was bashing America, and continued to say that I hate America and make anti-American posts every day, I only think it fair that you actually show some of these posts. Afterall, they can't be hard to find as they are so numerous....
I "previously made out that I lived in the UK"? When was that? Maybe it was when I lived in the UK? Now, there's a thought.....
I "previously made out that I lived in the UK"? When was that? Maybe it was when I lived in the UK? Now, there's a thought.....
And your point?
If in fact you did once live in the UK, that implies that you no longer live there - which in turn means you either emigrated or are on work assignment of some kind.
If you emigrated, then you seem to show no loyalty or affinity to your new home, which would make you a perfect candidate to commit treason and undermine the government of you new home - and in fact makes you exactly what you tried to pain me as.
And if on work assignment you seem to have upheld the "typical british expat behaviour" of continually whining and insinuating its better "back home".
So which is it?
And it is interesting you seem to have completely forgotten about your hatefilled tyrade thrown at me when you thouhg I was an afrikaner.
Oh - and here is but one of many of your anti-US posts...
So are we here to impress anybody?
The world complains when we do something, the world complains when we do nothing.
The country that has LED the global economy for over 200 years, the country that ended World War I and II (because the French and Brits couldn’t), the Country that Ended the Cold War, the Country that changed history, the Country that every foreigner wants to immigrate too, the Country that has changed the hopes and dreams of Billions of people worldwide, the Country that is home to the most innovation and technological advancements any humans have seen in history (in a short 230 years), the Country that Changed the World for the better will always be criticized.
Every nation relies on the Americans to fix all the problems in the world, if you’re so fucking wonderful, step up to the plate, I IMPLORE YOU!!!
Hypocrisy is in the eye of the beholder, but jealousy is much worse.
The United States of America is the Land of the Free, and Home of the Brave, Can’t say that with the Queen at the helm in Britain, why do you think so many left?
Oh, please. The Russians ended WWII more than the USA (or at minimum, just as much) by draining and tying up Germany's resources, and there was only a Cold War because of how the US dealt with the fallout of WWII with the Russians (the same reason why there was a Korean War, and a Viet Nam, as well as the reason why there is still a North and South Korea today) in the first place. As for America being home to the greatest technological advancements in History, I think that the Romans, Ancient Greeks, Chinese and Arabic Scholers may have something to say about that.
Lots of Countries have changed History, so you'll need to elaborate a little on that, and it's arrogant in the extreme to presume that every foreigner wants to move to the US.Arrogant, and untrue. How has the US changed the hopes and dreams of Billions of people around the world? McDonalds? Coke? Nike? I don't really see those as things to look up to, do you?
So, again: in what ways has the US changed the world for the better?

Nice try - however I never once limited anything to this thread.. I don't like you or anyhting you post - anywhere period.. so when you posted you thinly disguised anti-us reply I called you on it.
Again - in plain view for all to see, you make no reference for all your derogatory rantings when you thought I was an afrikaner.
What is it like to be a racist and prehate people just based on who and what you thought they were?
So you have been called out and proven to be a liar, racist and a possible traitor where you live - you have implied you no longer live in the UK, but dispise people who emigrate.
Seems like you are all over the place as you try to misdirect attention from yourself.
Maybe it will just be easier if you were banned.
Oh, so because I say that you're an Afrikiaaner Redneck that makes me a racist? As opposed to you calling me a Britocrat etc, not making you a racist? Shall I get the dictionary out so you understand the meaning of racism and xenophobia et al?
Well - again - if you knew half as much as you claim to know, you would be aware that there is nosuch thing as an afrikaner redneck.
You are racist - as you displayed racial prejudice and discrimination in your derogatory and hate filled rantings - which you made solely on the assumption that I was part of the afrikaner race...
Of course this does not quite fit perfectly in the common definiton of racism which perports that it is a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race - and this definition while academically "correct" fails to recognize the fact that it's not just the "belief in the inherent superiority" that is a problem - it is also the baseless hatred of these "inferior" races that is at the root of the term.
From this it is simply to see you and your actions were and are racist.
Anyhooo - I am tired of this game now... I'm off to have dinner and watch some telly - most likely some classic british entertainment like Benny Hill - I mean thats all you guys are good for right? Oh - and crooked teeth (which are supposedly a great way to filter the warm beer)

I guess you win - I'm tired of this game now - I have increased my post count without visiting the spammers thread so you have served your purpose.
Tell you what - just to boost your ego.. let's say you won and call it a day.

Oh please: it's patently obvious that you mentioned them as a way of wishing me harm. You know, it is okay to come out and say it: I won't hold it against you.
Congratulations on your increase postcount.

No it's not.
Just because you say so, doesn't make it so.
But getting back to the tsotsies... it seems you have a deep seated hatred and racist view of under privileged black street orphans...
You really are a despicable individual.. you just assume because they are poor, black and live on the street, they must be criminals - and murderers.
What a terribly racist outlook you have.
Very sad indeed.
Looks like you tripped yourself up with your own words.
... but never the less, you win.

Kimber 1911 .45 Custom II There isbonus to the Kimbers as they make a rimfire conversion as well. it's a new slide, barrel and magazine to shoot .22 and .17 Mach 2 ammo

A friend is trying to get me to buy his Taurus 1911 .45 ACP that he just bought just a few weeks ago. The finish is already coming off of the damn thing. It's fixable, but it being a brand new gun, it's going ot have a few problems. Not sure I want to deal with it. Overall it's a nice gun though.

Hhm.. I wonder if it's a federal offense for a work/study visa resident in the US to possess firearms?
Or at the very least have an unhealthy fascination with firearms.
Especially if the same has made no secret about their disdane for the US and it's policies?

No, it isn't. Anyone with a VISA to live in the US can legally own firearms as long as they don't have a criminal record. Not that answering someone's questions gives me an "unhealthy fascination" with firearms.

So you are now living in the US.... hhhmm... with an obvious disloyalty to the country... and you have perhaps aquired firearms.
Perhaps you feel so strongly about your dislike for the US and have so much disdain for the system that you feel you will need to bring about change in your own violent way.
Sounds to me like you are a security risk.

Yes, I must be living in the US because I answered a question on guns. I must also live in Space because I can answer a question on Stars, or live in the Ocean because I can answer questions on water. Great logic you have there, RC. Great indeed. I also like how your logic extends to me being a security risk because I answered a question on guns. You'd better give the CIA a call about the NRA then.

Lots of Countries have changed History, so you'll need to elaborate a little on that, and it's arrogant in the extreme to presume that every foreigner wants to move to the US. Arrogant, and untrue. How has the US changed the hopes and dreams of Billions of people around the world? McDonalds? Coke? Nike? I don't really see those as things to look up to, do you?
So, again: in what ways has the US changed the world for the better?

why? i'll tell you why
1. I love my country
2. I have no love of people hating my country; let alone people who come here because of its greatness, yet still loath it.
3. You have proved yourself a Grade A dickhead time and time again in many threads here, and other forums under the guise of being misinformed, yet still a know-it-all.
4. and most importantly
Nth is like a Mini-RC45.
Anyone agree?
think what you want, but you clearly dislike me.
where on earth does this mini-RC45 statement come from. that was in a thread about the McLaren F1's handling problems. I was its proprieter; and the threads' defender. what i brought to the thread was an opinion of 2 owners, and one video showing what the owners describe. what was furthere'd in the thread was an additional 2 owners confirming those handling balance issues.
no matter what some people said, that thread became a 5 point logical arguement, and has nothing to do with RC's own thoughts on the F1... in fact, you'd be hard pressed to find him posting much of anything about it.
am i Mini-RC45 in the fact that i won't allow bullshit? sure :)

Why would you need to remind me of my own words? The statement is true and supported by both fact and history. Korea is split in two due to the US-USSR agreement after WWII. This reminds me of Omid Djalili, who was stopped at the airport whilst going to the US. They took his passport and asked him what he did for a living, so he told them that he was a comedian. They security agent was not amused and said "well, if you're a comedian say something funny". Omid Djalilli replied, "well, I'm coming to the US for flying lessons".

I really like Springfields. I spent some quality time with a couple different versions. Some had some custom stuff done to them, dont ask me what though, im no gun expert. But I got to shoot all of these along with a large assortment of various handguns, rifles, semis etc. (about 60 different pieces on a private shooting range for a whole day)
I liked the Springfields and also the Sig Sauer 45, I want to get one of those I think, but I need to do some more shooting. I also found a rifle I like made by Kel-Tec.
Comes in a few different variations

It'd just a question... I wonder if you can answer it... oh - and how many guns are you allowed to legally own where you live?
This is of course a gun thread :)

I must say that I like guns, they look cool :-) Especially sniper rifles and this one (the barret 107M .50) even more.
The closest I have come to a gun thus far is a soft air gun  But I would like to get my hands on a real gun and fire a few rounds with it. I'm thinking about a Sig Sauer or the very popular Glock :)
I'm reserved towards the arms race in the US, or any other country which has a lack policy towards this.
I'm not in the position to say lots about that issue, but I think there have to be much more restrictions according to what type of gun you are allowed to own. AS far as I know and as far I heard about it it isn't that much better in Belgium either. For instance, for a stupid light shotgun/sporting-gun you need a permit but on the other hand you don't need a permit for a big game rifle ... doesn't make any sense at all.
Anyway, RC45 :) I think you have to be extra careful man 'cause according to me you are now on the Jabbasworld most wanted list ... any price on your head yet ? :D :D
Be carefull man !!! :P

Boolean algebra can be considered the very basis of all the computers. It was invented by an English man.
Sputnik 1, Vostok 1 were from Russia, first on the orbit and in space.
Finland of course leads the world.... teflontron told me so
The geosynchronous orbit was invented by Arthur C. Clarke, a British science fiction writer who now lives in Sri Lanka. He wrote 2001 A Space Odyssey. 14

Arthur C. Clarke is credited with inventing it the geosynchronous satellite . No one ever thought it up untill he wrote about it. Others were the first to use his idea and make it a reality. (probably Americans born in Germany)
Can you buy that Barrett rifle at the gun shows in town, bolt action naturally? Or would there be a restriction on the purchase or the ammo due to the calibre.

who said anything about algebra being from the US.
Algebra = 8th grade
at least you could mention a meaningful math that is used these days.
Sputnik was first like was Vostok too.
About the GPS, you can see Europeans sending Galileo and Russia have their own "GPS system" too. And since you don't care so much about the original idea and the Galileo system is more advanced than GPS, then I think we can call Galileo the main product and GPS just a first "idea"
considering military spec GPS is accurate to mm rather then 3 feet, sure it is.

it is well known that GPS in civilian use has built in fault accuracy.
I know its accurate to mm because i worked with NRAO on its bandwith to messure its variance under specific weather conditions.
so, well.... it is worthy to talk about,.... it is accurate to 3mm

Guns are sweet, stupid arguements aren't.
What do you think? Is it me? Will it make me look awesome?
These are what I'm currently looking at, not sure which I might buy.
Springfield 1911 .45 ACP

I really like Springfields. I spent some quality time with a couple different versions. Some had some custom stuff done to them, dont ask me what though, im no gun expert. But I got to shoot all of these along with a large assortment of various handguns, rifles, semis etc. (about 60 different pieces on a private shooting range for a whole day)
I liked the Springfields and also the Sig Sauer 45, I want to get one of those I think, but I need to do some more shooting. I also found a rifle I like made by Kel-Tec.
Comes in a few different variations

Some of the Kel Tec stuff is pretty cool. The long range pistol makes me laugh my ass off. The only place I'd expect to see something like that is in some goofy anime cartoon.
That rifle is pretty cool, too bad my interest in them is pretty low. The only long range near me is almst 2 hour drive. Which is wierd, considering I live in the middle of nowhere.
Check out wilson combat rifles, very nice stuff IMO. The price reflects that as well. I'd love to have one of thier pistols.

Sorry Z for irrelevant posts.
finding a topic on JW that stays on topic the entire time, is like running into the one white chick at a NASCAR event that doesn't have a black eye

@ Mojo - my friends dad that took us shooting used to do that since he had so many guns and could blow through so much ammo in a short amount of time. He had a pretty large set up in his garage to do that and he always told me that it wasnt necesarily price but the fact that he wanted to ensure the quality his ammo, talk about a perfectionist lol.
@ 666 - those Wilson rifles look pretty nice. I think my first purchase would def be a hand gun just cause its a little easier to take shooting. I just like rifles for their power and their design, im a design freak that will buy anything, useful or useless, as long as it looks nice LOL

Do you ever charge the ammo by yourself? I'm not sure if it is the prices or just a habit but at least many hunters here recharge the ammo by themselves. You just have to pick up the shells after shooting.
I've never done it, but my uncle does. Once you get past the initial investment, it does save you quite a bit of money. The machine things you use to do it are kind of expensive.

Thats exactly why I'm looking at a handgun, it's just easier to deal with. I can name 5 different places within 10 minutes of me where I can go shoot one.
I got my permit today, so now all I have to do is decide on a gun. I definately want a 1911 style gun, but I'm not sure on caliber. There are too many options! LOL .38 .40 .45 9mm 10mm
Ammo price will probably make the decision for me. After dumping $500+ on a gun, I don't want to have to spend $100 on ammo everytime I want to shoot it!
