Where'd you get this info from?

Nope DONT believe it.
I saw that at another site.
I call bullshit.......
E36 M3 - Inline 6 - 40000 MSRP
E46 M3 - Inline 6 - 49000 MSRP
E92 M3 - High Tech V8 - 54000 MSRP......... :bs:
Cant really see that happening.. Sorry
I also dont really think that power is going to hold up...... if it does BMW better take some extreme wieght saving measures
At least i hope so. :?
Neverthless if i am wrong and the price is right, i will be very happy and i may be able to afford one.

Sorry, but I have to call bull shit as well. Heck, the E92 prices just recently came out in the US(Europe, etc got the prices earlier than us) about a month or two ago, and the car is scheduled to be released in September. The M3 won't be out for a while, so there is noooo way that pricing has already been set in stone.
BUT if i'm wrong, i'll take this allll back.

the price is discussable but the rest of the info is 100% correct

08-17-2006, 02:54 PM
Well the rest isnt all that important to me :D I would take out the damn SMG III crap anyway, in place of a manual. That will save a few grand.
I just hope the power isnt correct. It either needs more power or less weight to deal with the AWD RS4.

In comparison - how much is the 335i in the US or the UK?

For the US, most speculation points to a price that is closer to $65,000 base. That will put it more in line with the RS4 and as far as people realizing that the RS4 has more power.......well, they're probably banking on the "BMW" namebrand to attract the less educated buyer.
As far as the power numbers go.....I think that 420 hp is about the most anyone could hope to realistically see achieved from the fcatory for this car. Not because they couldn't get more out of it, but because its just enough to keep it competative with other cars in this category (Audi RS4, next years Lexus IS500, and the Mercedes C63 AMG).
This car WILL weigh more than the previous M3 and the extra power and torque should be enough to make it a bit quicker, but it has to do something pretty extraordinary to come out on top of all this competition in the same price range.

If these numbers are correct, I'll shit myself as this would be the deal of the century. I think that an estimated price in the mid to upper 60s is more reliable.
But even if the car does cost $54k, they will all be sold before they're in the dealers and people will be reselling them for a $10k profit. I think BMW would have realized this and would have adjusted their prices accordingly so that they get the extra 10 grand instread of the buyers.

Well, remember that the E36 M3, they took extrordinary effort is trying to keep the cost down and MSRP it around $40k. That was also one of the reasons why the US never got the more exotic engine.
Yeah, I would've thought that the E92 M3 would be at least $60k if not approaching $70k with options.
One can buy M5 manual at europe too, it is not US of A only(when they make it). There has been some problems with the smg3 transmission, sometimes it needs a boot like a computer and so on, neverheard smg2 do the same.
One should also consider, that 335ci has equipment that is optional on the new M3, moaning about 65k prise at USA? It will cost 85ke here, if it is cheap, if not, 100+ke, rs4 is 115ke here.
Lets hope the M3 to be cheap, so we all could enjoy some real driving dynamics. E46 M3 was so good, that new one must be quite specular to be a worthy successor. E36 was not liked before the evo, old E30 is still quite a driving machine, underpowered true, but there is some finesse and lightness that even the E46 M3 lacks.

here is also some more speculation for those that are interested.

Well i say the MSRP will be around 57K. Since the RS4 is quite expensive, BMW might be taking a rare marketing move by underpricing them considerably and offering equal performance for less cost.
But I hope this isnt the stand, because the M3 should not be made and marketed to steal sales, instead it should be made and marketed to detroy the competition.
Yet, time will tell.

Is that a deflated air bag? The hood looks like it isn't shut either. Maybe some front end damage?

BMW have developed a traditional manual gearbox for the US verison M5. I saw some photos of it be tested at the ring and BMW have confirmed this. It doesn't look like a RHD version will be made either.

Hmmm... so the RS4 has more power, and is better looking?
Looks like for the first time, the M3 is going to have to hand the crown over to Team Audi.
(Yes yes, I know M3's got a CF roof... it still looks like shit)

check out the Edmunds.com blog -- there are a couple of new spy shots of the 3-series hard-top convertible (gasp: added weight!!) looks kinda chunky... the coupe looks so much better!

i think its alright. My 335i coupe is on the boat over to the US right now and I cant wait. Still I think the convertible e92 is a fresh look in its segment and should be fairly successful.
