I've just been reading an article over at Toms Hardware Guide (http://www.tomshardware.com/) where they have managed to overclock a P4 3.2Ghz to 5.2Ghz using liquid nitrogen.

CPU Speed: 5255Mhz
FSB: 309Mhz
Heat Sink temp: -196C
Chipset temp: -36C

Very impressive stuff and worth the read

LMAO, they really couldn't wait some months for a faster processor to come out? :P

i think its more of a challenge in trying to make something slow go fast.

wouldn't all that frost cause short circuit?

Im about a month, the 5.2 will cost $100.00. My 2.8 is running at 3.1. at 41C (50C after playing Halo for a while). That is as far as I am willing to go....

a record for tomshardware maybe.. but not world record, for that you should look to Japan, but anyway impressive stuff

would that be the equivalent of a twin turbocharged vette or a civic rice'd out?

Where can I download a program that lets you know what speed your CPU is running at a particular time?

One of three things..

1) It's an expendable system and they don't care what happens later.

2) It's all been sealed against moisture.

3) never ever EVER turn of the cooling unit. oh yeah, and have an unlimited supply of liquid N.

wow, that is truly awesome, before an upgrade to my system my cpu was running at 85C/178F lol, now its down to 45C/ 114F, which is not that bad.. I wonder what is the performance of that pc!

a guy in this area, made a overclock to his p4 1.7ghz.

After 3 weeks without turning off, almost melted the tower with the temperature inside, about 1000º

I don't if it's true this story, has been told to me. I don't know if it is possible.

Sorry, in the post I forgot to tell that the overclock that he made to his p4 1.7ghz was to 3.0ghz.

These guys are absolutely crazy. Who needs such power? And i´m sure it gets somehow damaged by these extreme temperatures... Although i would like to have a bit faster CPU than my poor 1Ghz
