I was just wondering if anyone was sure about some of the information on the new corvette. I heard that they would have around 500bhp. Are there any Pictures of them yet?

Thanks!

I think some time will heal the wounds, but it's still a lot less polished and smooth than the last model. It's a big jump from the clear evolution... and the C5 just looked sexier.

I think it looks a lot better C5, thanks for the pictures in that magazine!

Is it truly 6th generation, or 5.5? Anyone know how overhauled the actual platform is?

it is definitely a 6th gen. this has been beaten to death a corvetteforum.com. and i know it hasn't been beaten to death here, but to me its all the same. this is not a 5th gen with a body kit.

If you want to check on what is going on at the NAIAS, check out this site
http://autoshow.msn.com/as/autoshow2004/default.aspx?src=Home&pos=EditLead
Not only do they have hourly updates on what is being introduced, they may have info on the cars themselves, specifications and such. Every year I visit this site at Auto Show time and check in at least a couple of times a day. They have some vids of the new 'Vette too.

On the side view, it kinda looks a bit like a C4 corvette (the side windows alot squarer then the C5)

And what the hell is with corvette ingravement in the bottom right hand side of the rear of the car? I miss it being in the center :(

But besides those minor niggles, it looks GREAT 8)

I think that the new Corvette is more Corvete than ever before in the last years. THey have took the "Cocacola" side line again to the car, which is absolutely great!!!
I like this car really, nice to see the good oldtimes coming back........:)
And then there is the engine, ou jes, the engine....About 6 litre...which I think is good thing and around 400 horse power seems good. The torgue is around 550Nm. So it should be fast, atleast faster than the previous Corvette?

BUT, still they should do something very very rare....like....427cid or biger big block in side the bonnet and put there around 600 horse power and plenty of torgue...I think that there could be byers for that car..... or is there? :)

The LS2 (the C6 engine) is rated at about 400hp/400ftlb, vs the LS1 rating of 350hp/360ftlb.

The first series LS6 (as I have in my car) is 385hp/385ftlb, the second series LS6 is 405hp/400ftlb - that puts the new C6 at about the current Z06 spec.

The new C6 also weighs about the same as the current Z06 - so performance would be very close.

Let's hope the LS7 makes good on the 450+ promise.
