Actually it was quite an oddissey! :?

My parents and my younger brother had to start the trip from Madrid 'cause there were only two vacancies in the group leaving from Barcelona, and three in the group from Madrid. As the flight from Madrid/Barcelona to Tokyo via Paris took off early in the morning, they decided to flight to Madrid the previous day and stay overnight in a hotel near the airport.

Their flight was schedulled at 21h20... and at 1h30 they were still waiting, already with the boarding pass, and there was nobody from Ibera or the airport... it was a complete mess. I called them every 30 minutes asking what was happening... and at 1h30, we decided that it was better to forget the flight, so I took the car and drove it to the airport so they could drive the 650km to Madrid.

Now they're sleeping in Madrid, and today my dad - after paying the 15-days parking at the airport - is driving the way back home alone in the car. So all in all - we've 'lost' the three flight tickets from Barcelona to Paris, the triple room in the hotel, and one flight ticket to Barcelona... and as things are going - we don't really trust in a refund sadly  :x

Anyway - it could have been worse... and fortunately - that was the only problem in our problem-free vacation to Japan

Sorry to hear that  :bah:
but check out the new passenger rights for the EU, the passengers have now much better rights to claim their money back/ or compensated for overbooked/cancelled/delayed flights.
