Veri nice Qualy!! Bad position for Alonso cause Schumi is second. Kimi great but i think he has low fuel, very nice also how he get out of the way and controlled the car over the gravel. Massa as loyal squire made a good work, seems he feels great on the ferrari!! Good Rubbens on top positions again! Lets see what button can do this race. Amazing 10th position for Couldthard with the red bull!!! Hope Speed is ok after that awesome accident!!

Another time Ralf Schumacher making stupid maneuvers!! clearly he was out of the route and hit Pedro de la Rosa on the back... This guy sucks really hard, fucking looser!!

Lets see what Pedro can do tomorrow!! Hope he beats Ralph Fucker Schumacher

I'm very happy with the grid. Great to see Raikkonen back up front (he's my 2nd favourite driver), and it's fantastic that the two Ferraris are right behind him. Finally, I'm thrilled to see Alonso mired down in 7th haha. I have no doubt that the Ferraris will sneak by Raikkonen in the race tomorrow, but with him up front like he is, it should give him a good shot at securing the 3rd step on the podium, and help throw a wrench into Renault's championship aspirations.

Good to see Kimi on the Top step in qualifying. :good: He needs a break. From a championship standpoint, we need Michael to finish a couple spots ahead of Alonso to make it more exciting

Well, Button, Fisichella, and Barrichello, are all just going to be rolling chicanes for Alonso, all the while the Ferraris and Kimi will be taking off on their own while Alonso has to fight traffic. I think Kimi will gain enough of an advantage during his stint up front to save himself a podium, or at least I hope...

i think Kimmi doesnt have enought fuel to get a good advantage.... And about alonso, i think he can overtake Fisichella and Rubens in the start, and then Button will be overtaked as always, kimmi fighting with Schumi and Massa stopping Alonso.... a great race with a first group of 4 drivers Kimmi VS Schumi VS Massa VS Alonso all with the knife in the mouth!!

Alonso has been having brilliant starts - he usually makes up about 2-4 spots on the first lap. Lets see if he can do it without incident this time.

I doubt Alonso will even get onto the podium. In fact, I hope he crashes out, or is otherwise forced to retire. That would make the championship situation much more interesting, if Ferrari continue the way they're going.

I'm all up for a scenario like that :D But IMO, theres no way Alonso is going to crash, and a technical failure is even less likely. That being said, I'm wagering on the following result:

1) MS
2) FM
3) KR
4) FA

Yea I know it's about as likely as me growing a vagina and getting my period, but it'd be fantastic to see Renault and Alonso actually have to try and win, whereas right now they can cruise with consecutive runner-ups and still win handily.

As for the race, my top-8 prediction is as follows:

1. M.Schumacher
2. F.Massa
3. K.Raikkonen
4. G.Fisichella
5. F.Alonso
6. P.de la Rosa
7. R.Schumacher
8. R.Barrichello

I couldn't have hoped for a better, while remaining realistic haha, result! Cant really blame anyone but Renault for Alonso's problems, as Kimi didn't seem to have any trouble at all, even with a fuck up in the pits, and a car that has been notably slower than Renault all season long.

Great stuff, lots of passing for a change as well, and both championships are now wide open. I'm thrilled haha.

Unless Michael Schumacher enlists the help of his brother.

I think Raikonnen was running light. The time disparity between him and De La Rosa doesn't match the skill gap. Unless something happened, cos I didn't see qualifying.

Alonso almost crashed all by himself during the race, taking a pretty risky trek through the sand before luckily getting it back on the track.

And Raikkonen was running light, he pitted after only 9 laps, ending up with a 3 stopper. They screwed up his fuel load in qualifying, so all they could do was try to get pole and run as fast as they could in hopes of opening a gap with a lighter load. He did good finishing 3rd with that strategy and that car I think.

Good race though there was no real race at the front.

This mass damper thing has really affected Renault. Did anyone see the public display of Michelin tyres Renault made in protest? Putting them in show in the pitlane? WHATS THE POINT. Don't divert from the fact your lack of mass dampers have had a big affect on tyre wear and traction thus probably CAUSING the large amount of blistering. Michelin not so much to blame. Blame the FIA! lol

Also blame ALONSO for not being to adapt to the cars new handling characteristics. Notice Fisi was better all weekend. Alonso just gets in a strop, drives crap. The mass damper Renault was built around him. Now the rattle is being thrown out the pram.

If Alonso claws this back or puts on a good fight I will totally change my opinion on him and rank him very high. Only time will tell....

Kimi displayed his considerable skill this weekend and Button proved you can still drive good even with the fashion sense of a tramp. Maybe that bum fluff beard improves chassis rigidity. Sly version of a mass damper!

Looks like the Renault is hugely affected by the mass damper ban. ITV is having a hunch that the ban of the dampers caused the Michelins to blister more than usual. Now the last few races turned more interesting :)

nickthaskater
07-30-2006, 02:37 PM
I don't see why the lack of damper would cause the rears to blister so badly. Even Kimi said that he was getting blisters near the end of the race and McLaren don't run a damper (and never have to my knowledge). It was purely the tires and setups.

LMAO, i fucking hate the Speed bitch!! he needs to get out of F1, heck hes only taking up the spot of someone else who truly deserves to be there!!

I'm starting to think you don't like anyone whos initials aren't MS :? What do you have against Speed? He's doing great for a rookie and it's about fuckin time there was an American on the grid.

Alonso is finally starting to crack it seems. Now, if he can fend off Shumacher to retain the Championship, i'll give him the credit he deserves for this year. But it won't be retroactive

Renault were not the only team using the damper system, Ferrari even were. But the point is look at what Renault have been amazing at the last two years -brilliant traction out of those corners. If the Renault chassis main emphasis is on this good traction than surely the mass damper would be a very important piece of the chassis?

Thus affecting balance, thus affecting tyre wear, thus making non adaptive Alonso drive like s***

Renault invented that damper-system, so this means it was a problem area on the renault. Now that it's not present on the car anymore no wonder it's going to affect them the most.

Other teams just copied it without much gained advantages.

Partially, yes, I think Michelin admits they were expecting higher track temperature. But front and rear don't work independently, if understeer, they might slide the car out abit to ensure the nose is point the right direction. This slide out might cause rear to blister more than normal.

Excellent performamce by Ferrari, Kimi and particularly Webber.

Ferrari was on song today dominating the proceedings like they did 2 years back. Looks like Massa and Schumi were pretty evenly matched today. Massa is doing a far better job than Fisi is at Renault.

Renault were running into tire issues this weekend despite taking the tires from a test on a hot day at Jerez. The lack of mass dampers seem to be one of the key factors behind their poor performance today.

The other Michelin runners weren't suffering as much. From a fastest lap standpoint, Ralf was about 0.5 seconds quicker than Alonso on similar tires. But the Renaults were averaging 1'19" while the Ferraris were in the 1'16"-1'17" range all day long

The mass damper was intended to keep the car flat over bumps and in turn in. The removal of this made the front end move a lot more. Perhaps Renault had to make adjustments to the wing or suspension settings to compensate for this. This perhaps led to the graining at the back. I don't know :bah:

The timing of the ban of the mass dampers is curious to me. Charlie Whiting has banned it now when the teams are not allowed to test it. Shades of 2003?

The pressure is on Fernando and Renault and he needs to win at least one race instead of cruising to second places to win the championship.

nickthaskater
07-31-2006, 10:51 AM
Meh, who knows what the real issue was with Renault today... And as was already said, they chose not to run it, so if that's what really caused them the most trouble, they shot themselves in the foot, no blame can be put on anyone else.

As for some people out there saying that the rules are being changed for Ferrari's sake, where was the help all last year? Ferrari and Bridgestone were about as threatening as a daisy, but the one tire rule persisted all year long. I don't know why it took so long to come to a conclusion such as this for Charlie, though it's entirely possible he's been looking into it for an extened period of time, or something of the sort. Again, who knows?

And finally, Fisichella. He was clearly the faster of the two Renaults on Sunday (and Saturday for that matter). It was definitely a case of him riding shotgun for Alonso's championship sake.

Oh well, I don't think it will really make that much of a difference anyways, Ferrari still handed Renault their asses on a platter in France, a race in which Renault were running their dampers. At this point in time I think it comes down strictly to tires between those two teams, and Bridgestone are kicking some serious ass in the European heat right now.

Like when Ferrari used at the start of the season a new and ingenious brake heat dispel system that by chance eliminated the turbulences of the back tyres, this system had to be banned as an aerodynamic component but Ferrari said it was only for dispel brakes heat....... :fist: SURE!!!.... Now all teams use it!!

And about the FIA, you cant bann that when Renault has made more than a half of the season witrh that system, and when you have developed your car based on that system....

nickthaskater
08-01-2006, 03:17 AM
It could've been possible that Charlie had been examining the system further in the meantime leading up to this point, and came to the conclusion that by stabilizing the nose, it was giving the car better downforce or something along those lines. Who really knows...

Either way, they'll be using it in Hungary, so we'll see just how much of a difference it makes.
