MY CURRENT CAR...PORSCHE?

Although I am a huge fan of sports cars and not tanks my parents decided to buy me a new Ford F-250 when I turned 16. Its a 2001 4x4 XLT with 6.8L V10, I added a K&N air filter and Magna Flow exhaust which should have boosted the power up from 310hp. I have enjoyed this car for the most part, it has around 37,000 miles on it and everything has held up VERY well except the engine which needed replacing at around 20,000 miles due to a cracked block. I'm looking to sell it when I go off to college and I wanted to get an used Porsche as a kind of project, or work in progress. I have been concerned about the reliablity though and wanted to see if there was anyone out there who could give me some ideas on what would require less work and less money put into it. I would love to own a Porsche Turbo, any model, I love them, but I would have to get a used one...atleast 8 years old. If anyone has any input that would be great!

You can only dream...If you got the money,why not...Porsches are great but very expensive.I reckon you should try to find something like 1974 911 Turbo...But I think alot of first porsche owners buy the 944 and 928.

yeah if u want a turbo porsche for cheaper and insurable for your age,a 944 turbo is a good choice,i like the car and they are pretty quick.

yeh go a 944 turbo mate thats what I chose and mate I gotta tell ya....if you like kicking 99% of the cars on the road then this is the car for you....nothing like nailing a V8!

The 944 line is generally much less expensive than the 911 928 and boxter lines. They also have much more neutral handling than 911, and there is a huge community of enthusiats who have 944s. The general rule when looking to buy one of these, or any older high end car, is to spend as much as you can when you buy it. I mean find the one in the best condition. It is NOT cheaper to buy one that needs some work. If you have any questions or anything feel free to send me a PM.

i love it. handles great, the turbo version can be made to 350 rwhp for 1000 or so. and very low prices right now, the only problem is that replacement parts can be expensive. and everyone is always impressed that you drive a porsche. for a great porsche web forum go to www.rennlist.com the 944 board there is very helpful and knolwgeable
