My Porsche 996 C2 - First modifications done

so, finally i found some time to take some shots with the modifications i've made at the beginning of june.

first modification: mounted the mk1 sideskirts

second modification: the mk2 wing in the back

the decision which wing to take took a while. first i thought to take the mk1 version to complete the gt3 mk1 look. on the other hand i had a good offer for a mk2 version in which i personally prefere. after a few photoshops and some weeks passing by i bought this one and sent all the stuff with the car into the garage.

i really like the result, the look is great. and it's really impressive how much downforce more you get when going faster den 150 km/h. i could test that on the anneau du rhin racing course in mid june and on the german autobahn 2 weeks ago when i drove back home from the airport.

the next things i'd like to do are lowering the car for a few cm and new rims. i haven't decided yet which ones to take. and finally it should get another exhaust system, maybe fabspeed ore something similar, it has to be loud! :D we'll see...

I feel the wing doesn't fit with a "standard" C2. Body should be wider at the back IMO. But the car itself remains wicked, you're a lucky guy being able to drive this beauty around...

Correct me if I am wrong, but the "standard" C2 is the same as the GT3 body. Only the C4S, Turbo, GT2 had the wider bodies on the 996.

Modding your car is definately an enjoyable thing, slowing working towards your ultimate vision for your car.

hmm... it's really difficult. i thought about black techart formula wheels but they're so fu***ing expensive... maybe BBS LM. i really don't know yet. i've made some photoshops at home with different wheels. maybe i'll post them here in the near future for a poll...

Since i bought it last december i made about 14000km. i didn't had any problems with it now. made a little service in june when changed the summer tires but just the standard things.

i guess i'll write soon a little report about it, like TT did with the C4 tip

Agreed though the 2nd Gen spoiler looks out of place on a 1st gen GT3. Also you planning on doing wheels as a mod because the turbo twist look wheels just aren't flowing with the GT3 way of things...

Eh..either way nice. Mine will be stock until PSE actually becomes a retrofit for the 987S.

BBS LM's most definately, they always look fantastic on Porsches.

I've always thought the headlights stood out a bit too much on 996's, has anyone ever tinted them? I think it would look good. Either way, the car looks great, go outside and enjoy it!

Speculation on my part but wouldnt you need GT3 size tires to keep the aero/mechanical grip in balance? This may make a difference at higher speeds and higher gforces .

GT3 size tires?

he would need GT3 size weight, and suspension too to get GT3 levels of grip.

but with the aero kit, it stops producing lift... and at apeed, actually starts producing a little d/f


the GT3 size wheel/tire combo? that would change the steering feel, and grippier tires would give you more grip... for aero balance; ride hight is all that "needs" to be changed

at some point, you just say "hey, Mantley... make this faster"
