Since we are on the topic of long words, whilst I was in Wales I came across a town with the longest name in the world. It's called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch and it means, of course, "the church of St Mary in the hollow of the white hazel near the fierce whirlpool and the church of Tysilio by the red cave".

It's not as long as the one's before, but it's not a chemical formula or crazy medical condition either

lau-wiliwili-nukunuku-oi'oi is another one Long-nosed Butterfly fish and of course if you want to get into semantics, the words above and the Hawaiian fish names are technically not English. They're more like composites of Latin and/or Greek and Hawaiian.

I believe the longest word in non-technical use in the English language is still "antidisestablishmentarianism".
