1.3mb pics! WTF? LOL I cant see those at my slow internet connection, but I did see the smaller one and looks great.
How is the game itself? You have a wheel to play it?

Nice Alex very very nice. I plan on downloading the demo and hopefully it works on one of the crappy laptops with a 128 mb card. :( I also got a 256 in another one but thats a Dell which suck ass.

WOW looks very nice. Reminds me of that Formula 1 2002 GTR mod I always played. Very nice quality and the simulation must be !.. :D

Looks like an excellent game, how are the physics?

just played the demo, and my impressions were:
- engine sounds are weaker then in the first GTR (remember a stationary car, the engine a minium revs was incredible, it felt like the car was standing behind me - now, at engine start NO SOUND)
- played on level semi-pro and could feel a very distinct computer like driving
- the AI is the best i've ever had in a game, just play the game in psychotic mode - fantastic
- good graphics
- the cockpit shakes way too much, it really is abrupt in a corner - almost like the car has no suspension
- driving in GTR 2 feels too unreal, too programmed
conclusion: disappointment
GT Legends beats GTR 2 by a mile
- the enginesounds are REAL
- you can hold a powerslide
- you can feel the behaviour of the car through the wheel
- the behaviour of the car changes every lap
now just gonna try the game in wet conditions
(can someone plz give me their point of view on both GTR2 and GT Legends)

ok, wet conditions are more realistic - you can feel the grip gradually decreasing if you punch the gas too much :)
but in the dry, then it's too direct. I've always used the following benchmark: the donut.
- in GTR you cannot complete a donut fluently, the car turns 180° and then again, and again and again - it's impossible to do a 360° in one go :x
really this game only deserves a 6 out of 10 for being realistic, GT Legends is so much better - and they've developped that game also, so why can't they do that with modern car?!?!?
bloody hell man, have you looked at the pitcrew - this was acceptable 2 years ago, now this is classified as carp

^^^^
old racers are very different then modern racers... flat out.
you dont see modern race cars oversteering much fluidly.... the back goes, and there is almost no retrieving it.
I haven't played GTR2 just yet.. but in GTR, i felt the F550 was the best car in the game... not because it was easy, but because it was the hardest to drive... you could feel through the wheel exactly where front, and rear grip was... but other cars didn't have the same amount of feel.
this is common of hi-d/f cars even in real life i think...which is why GRL might be "a mile better"
anyway; it looks better, and looks very enjoyable :)

Physics are good. The new tire model is much more forgiving. The low speed grip bug is fixed, however there is sense of much more grip. Not in an unrealistic way but more grip all around. I dunno if it honestly represents how the modern slicks are. there where known issues with the GTR1 tire model, but this new just seems to have much more grip. I will have to speak with some people and research it a bit before I can make any hard statements.
McLaren boy I dunno what sim your playing. The force feedback is fine, you can hold a power slide, if you think that you GTR2 driving feels "too unreal" then you lost all your credibility on your knowledge of physics
I have been into auto simulations from the early days of GPL, personaly worked with SimBin and simracing is a big hobby of my'n.

i find it just so hard to believe that these cars in GTR2 are so easy to drive, for example at 250 km/h going from 6th gear to 2nd gear in two seconds is no problem at all, anyone care to explain that?! In GTL going from 6th to 4th to soon results in a huge spin.
I could become a master at GTR2 within a months time, i've played GTL for 3 months now and i'm still learning.
But here is an interesting thing, on sunday i will be driving a 997 GT3 Cup, a BMW 1 series racecar and a Formula Renault 1.6 for real. Can't wait to see how different or similar it'll be after all these years of virtual racing.
@SFDMALEX:
- with all due respect, since you've been involved in GTR your point of view on the game really doesn't matter. I'm more interested in hearing from gamers rather then developpers
- i haven't mentioned forcefeedback at all, this has nothing to do with holding a powerslide - once the grip is gone there is no way of retaining it

I knew you worked with simbin Alex! I was confused there for a second. Are you still working? And if yes are you working with them on this game as well or no? I believe you worked with them on the first one right?

Who said I was a developer?
Do you have any idea of the technology in those cars? And the gearboxes?
And with all due respect I call bullshit on that 4 gears in 2 sec.
In GTL 6th to 4th. Once again. There is no car in GTL with a 6th gear. And I gon from 5th to 3rd which is what you should have said. Shit I can go 5th to 2nd, you just have to know what you doing and the sync the box with the engine.
And why would you even compare the gearbox from FIA GT to the cars of 60s and 70s? You do know that they are ages apart in technology.
Do you know how the sequential boxes in FIA GT work compared to your good old fasioned 3 pedal 5 speed syncro box?
I coudlnt give two shits about what gamers have to say about a race car SIMULATOR. I care what gamers say about NFS
Mate I have zero problems keeping the car on track or recover it from a bad situation. So your problem with not being able to retain grip is a skill issue, not a physics issue. I just find it odd ho0w everybody who sits down behind a computer thinks he's sooo good that he should be able to do anything. It takes YEARS of practice. I was the same as you before. Blaiming all my inabilities on physics saying its wrong. It takes time. It took me at least 2 years of practice to become a good racer, so I could hang with the likes of Greger Huttu in a race. It took another 2 to be able to match and beat the top rank times. Plus some people have been doing it for much longer then that and they just cant manage to be quick.
On the last note, once your tire runs out of grip. It runs out of grip. Ever seen slick tires slip curve diagram?
And no, you will not become a GTR 2 master in 3 months time, because I will bet money on the fact that someone will always be at least 2 sec faster then you at any given track in any given car. Now 2sec is the difference between Montoya at Indy and Jeff Gordon at Indy (in an F1, the latter having his first go in an F1 car)
Keep trying, I can go all day, just next time bring me telemetries and facts to say how the physics are wrong.
P.S Actually fuck eet. I have nothing to argue about, because there is nothing to argue. Just cant be bothered

Nope not anymore. First yes, but I knew as much about GTR2 as your average guy, well sure a bit more since I talk to them but I really wasnt aware of what they were doing.

now here's an interesting point - just because you're a fast gamer means automatically that the game is realistic?????????????
this discussion is as you say useless, now if a real racecar driver came along and give us his/her point of view - then we'll all know how good a game actually is?
do you agree?

And why would you even compare the gearbox from FIA GT to the cars of 60s and 70s? You do know that they are ages apart in technology.
here's what happens in both games:
GTL: at the top of eau rouge speed is about 200 km/h, 3 downshifts in 2 seconds the engine overrev's so the rear tyres light up and whoosh - you're off
GTR2: at 250 km/h, 4 downshifts in 2 seconds the engine overrev's and the car sits perfectly on the asphalt, now there may be a revlimiter but there is no way in hell the gearbox can hold up for long yet in the game this is no problem - now that just seams odd to me
(and just sow you know this is not my driving style, i just like to see how the game reacts, in these extreme ways you can expose the limits of the game)

Oh ok. BTW I downloaded the Demo a few days ago and all I can say is DAMN!
Very nice game.
Pro's
I like the animation of when you accelerate or brake the leg moves.
I liked the feeling without TCS and ABS.
I liked how nice the physics are compared to some other games such as...you know.
Cons I
guess since its still a demo it might get fixed in the real version but when you are in the in car view and up shift the guy puts his hand on the gear lever but the lever doesnt move! I know not that big of a deal but still.
For some reason sometimes when I am racing and I over rev the engine it just blows and gets on fire. Happened quite a few times no clue WTF is going on but I guess it just might be me?
The first time I played it I couldnt even finish a lap without the damn engine catching on fire.
Also the car seems to stall quite a bit. Example when I tried automatic and drove just barely into the gravel trap the car just cuts off! Then I switched to manual and it worked fine but still I have the problem of stalling the damn cars too much.
And for yalls arguement I tried doing what he said and go from 6th gear to 2nd gear (Both Automatic and Manual) and my ass spun out into the damn gravel trap. So I dont know what Mclarenboy is talking about because when I shifted down and the engine was over revved I spun.
dont believe me? Shall I compose a vid of it or no?
