They were prolly street racing by the looks of it. I wonder why both of them stopped tho? If ur getting arrested, mite as well split up and half the damage. Maybe its not a real stop tho...

I few years back, a hwycop (OPP) stopped 5 of us on the way down to the local race track. He pulled next to each car and pointed the car to side of the hwy. No point in running, he had our plates.
here are pictures of the car when first introduced

I wonder where thats at. In the background you can see a huge building with green trim around it. I know that theres a building like that in Dallas but I dont see that cop car being from Texas 'cause all the state troopers in Texas use Z28s.

It would be Colorado. Vail has some 911 cop cars so it wouldn't suprise me. Where I live I see camaro cop cars regularly to go with your typical impala and crown vic cars.

Just wanted to know if this STi is on stock or has it slight mods put on? :?

I saw some pics of that Colorado State Trooper STi here on this site a few weeks back. Figures, excellent car for that type of climate. Here in South Carolina, as most of you know, we have a BMW factory in upstate SC that makes the Z4 and X5. Every year or so, BMW donates a few M5's- all that I have seen have sunroofs on them, to the Highway Patrol. Talk about a cool pursuit vehicle! Down here where I live, by the coast, the city police have mainly Z28's and one or 2 1999-2001 Mustang GT's marked patrol cars.

lmao... u americans are taking steps forwards, while us canadians are moving backwards. We started with the Crown Vics, and Impalas. Then moved to FWD Impalas, and now... im ashamed to say... they are converting VW Beetles into cruisers. O well, at least now I can outrun them in my dads accord. lol

well, u can't run away from the STi in the city streets, and on highways, they got helicopters to do pursuits...........so I guess the cops really got it this time
damn... why the hell subaru sold the car to these guys... why not give it to us... we would know what to do with the car right? :P
Here in Portugal we have BMW 330d and subaru. getting hard to escape :(
By the way our Subs arent as good looking as the US one...

Funny Story....
My parents live in Portugal (Lisbon) but several times a year my mom comes down to visit us. When I bought the WRXhttp://www3.sympatico.ca/mfernan/images/WRX1.jpg, my mom just happened to be here. I took her for a quick spin around the area and she really liked the car. After returning to Portugal, she told my dad all about the car but my dad never had seen one. Few weeks ago, while driving down to the south of the country (Algarve), a Silver WRX passed them doing 140km/h. My mom immediately pointed out the car and asked my dad to catch up with it. By the time my dad reached the WRX he was doing 160km/h. Not happy with the view from the side, my mom proceeded to asks my dad to pass him, she wanted to identify the year by the headlights (I told her about the different headlights in the 2004). At these point, they were doing 170km/h and the WRX started to fall behind. 30 seconds later, the noise of sirens interrupted their WRX conversation. My mom asked where that noise was coming from?
"From the Subaru", replayed my dad. "It's a cop car".

Dumb street racers, probably a fake pic put out by the police department to "show the consequences of recklass driving" or something. Cool STi though!

They were using Subarus here in Sydney for alittle while too, not sure if they are still doing it though. Would be pretty hard getting away from one of those in the twisties, highways might be another thing all together though (no helicopters here ;) )

Wow...in Poland we have Skoda Octavias and Ford Focus's. Can anyone beat that ??
That is ridicouls. Ive havent seen those cars yet but that is crazy. Our State patrol also rides BMW bikes. Im sure that it is real. That is a pic of Denver in the background of the street racers. And our state patrol is filthy rich.

I guess that this is just a logical progression. I mean, the German Highway Patrol have been using tuned Porsches for years, some forces in the UK have Lotus Esprits, so what's wrong with a Scooby?

aussie cops had wrxs at one stage...
they wrote a few off in like 2 weeks and then one guy in a commodore reversed into another one after he was pulled over and wrote that off as well
now they just seem to stick to commodores and falcons
usually just v6's but they used to use v8's
SupraPolak
01-04-2004, 06:31 PM
I'm sure they still use the V8s for the highway pursuit vehicles...
I alsao seem to remember that there was something about the Subarus to do with having to fit a roll cage to them which made it difficult for the fat pigs to get in and out of ;) Good for us I guess that they love their Maccas :) more than they love being able to do their jobs....

Haha Dont't think you're going to have much chance running from the police now!! It was a little while ago now, but some of the police in Leicester used Ford Escort Cosworths for a while!!
The local police here in Stavanger, Norway actually has a silver WRX STi for an undercover car. You don't wanna see that one in your rearview mirror.
They also have an MB E-class. Other than that the cars are mostly Nissans and Volvo V70s.

Wow, I would be interested to find out the STI's or other turbo cars hold up for that kindof duty. Normally I would think that a 300hp or so big V8 would hold up better then a turbo four making the same huge power. Impressive if they do hold up to that kindof beating, around here they run the cars (ford crown vics) up to 130k miles and then auction them for a few dollars. Maybe one of you europeans or aussies can answer that.

Us Aussies still use mostly 6 cylinder and V8 powered cars, not many 4s around, nor Turbos but they do have them.
That might change though, now that Ford are producing a turboed 4litre 6 cylinder localy (XR6T) ;) Now, that would be an interesting persuit vehicle
Below is an XR8 but visually the XR6T is not that much different, just to give you an idea...

those Crown vics and Impalas aint slow you know. Youd be suprised when you see one fly past you at 100 MPH chasing downa speeder late at night. Also why WRX? that cant be comforatble back there, they need E-55 AMGs, or M5s as Police cars here.

Yeah, they are pics of the Denver Skyline. I'm from CO and was just in Denver yesterday actually. I've actually heard that the STi Cop Car isn't really a Police vehicle. They may have just put the light bar and official plates on for the photos and staged the pic of the racers. Could be wrong though. perhaps they are saying that so that people will think it's a fake right before they get pulled over. Who knows?
edit: Found some more info. Here's a post I saw on a local CO message board about the car.
"Here is the 411
Yes it is REAL! Notice the vinyl graphics are reflective. They are offical state patrol issued graphics. No hes not an officer. No hes not impersonating an officer. So he cannot pull you over. No its not the CSP's car it his is own personal daily driver. And it is all OK'd by the CSP.
The owner is a photographer for CSP. He was asked to head a program promotion for discourgaging street racing. So hence why an import. Its all only temporary for the program and photos for their posters and calandars.
The owner is actually lookin for a fully kitted yellow or red import to be apart of the photos. If anyone is interested you may email him at
"
So, that explains the two cars in the first pic. Makes sense. We've had Lamborghinis and Hummers in other promotional campaigns for the State and local police before. They were never real police vehicles, just used for publicity.
They should have used a Camaro SS, Trans AM WS6, or Mustang Cobra, to really scare the shit out of the little fuckers. AWD plus Highway patrol equals STi getting owned, not a good idea to have AWD car as a highway patrol vehicle.

Well, this is CO. Snow+RWD+Lots of Power=Mustang Cobra, Camaro SS, or T/A WS6 getting owned by the STi. Besides, they already use the High Output engines in their patrol cars as it is. The Highway Patrol here still uses a lot of the Caprices and Crown Vics. They also use some motorcycles as well. It's a lot harder to outrun one of those. In the end, they've got to outrun Motorola anyhow, that's near impossible nowadays. Also, if they're trying to scare a lot of the street racers, an STi works well since it would outrun what a lot of those kids run anyhow and they can identify with the STi's also.

Wow so Colorado State Troopers are driving STIs I better watch out I drive thru Vail all the time.
Although it would suck to get pulled over I bet it would be a funny pic of me in my Evo getting stop by an STI. Can you say "OWNED"

Although I hear its pretty much a drivers race. Keep in mind the U.S. spec STIs have 2.5liters and 300hp and U.S. spec EVO just make 271hp plus they don't offer FQ-300 or FQ-330 so in a straight line they have a slight edge

it seems that that is a fake bust. The walking cop does not really look like he is walking and besides, the picture's quality is too good to have been taken with a sub 500$ camera. While its dark, the picture really comes out with a lot of noise.
