Anyway I doubt we will see it in the future unless BMW wins the race by some fluke. Steve Matchett was mentioning that France was perhaps the best race to put your aero bits out as the track is flat and smooth with high speed corners - an aerodynamist's wet dream. It looks like a monkey ass track to me :)

yeah, but here's a little history with Trulli: As the race wears on, he loses focus and goes backward. Ralf is the only one with any kind of consistency but his pace is atrocious.

schumi with the fastest lap of the race, a 1:17.111 i believe; and massa just couldn't keep up at his consistancy mid-race; and fell wayside to Alonso... although, if Massa were to push the engine... perhaps it would've been possible to be right on his back, or perhaps pass?
after Massa's final pit stop, he closed in to 5.7 seconds behind Alonso...

I thought it was a pretty good race. Massa working to keep Alonso at bay in the first stint, seeing how Michael's 3 stop would play out to Alonso's 2, watching Pedro try to work his way through the field, Kimi nearly nicking Alonso for 2nd place before having to come in for what looked to be an unscheduled stop due to a fuel delivery error on the previous stop, seeing that Midland get the nose pointed a the sky haha, and just watching Michael work that 248F1 to the bone and squeezing an incredible amount of pace out of it.

As far as this season goes, it was one of the better races IMO.

Oh yea, and how the Japanese powers have shifted... Honda qualifying down in the ass end of the field, losing both cars in the race, while Toyota qualifies well and ends up with a 4th place finish, and a car that was fighting for the podium before having to retire.

Back in the day, telemetry was basically knowing the stop watch, and sector times... you could see he was fast, but not where he was fast.

modern telemetry lets you see the speed everywhere, the throttle/brake position, steering lock, stability control etc. All this was in its infancy when Schui started.

He wins for Beneton, and they have all this info, and low and behold Flavio knows what to search for in a new driver... and even how to train a new driver to match the telemetry results that schui had.

Its said that drivers are nearly equal... they are fast into the corner, and fast out. Where Michael stood out was mid-corner speed, and that is where he made up so much time over the others.
