A member of Z4CoupeAddicts.com works for the Total BMW magazine and in their next issue they compare the Cayman S with the Z4MC. He has made some comments and posted a few sneak peek shots. Its a very interesting comparison. Here is the link: http://prophetofnoise.com/z4coupeaddicts/viewtopic.php?t=97

Interesting!

Although, as said in the preview, would love to read what the Porsche magazine have to say about the Z4M Coupe.

Right. Even as someone stated in that thread what would Excellence(Porsche magazine) say if they were to do a comparo? I would assume there is some biased opinions going on even though the writer says there isn't.

So far most mags i've read states the Cayman S the better car. May not have the hp to match but is more direct in feel and more connected to the road as most journalists have said compared to the Z4M's numb steering and poor choice of rubber.

The only reason you buy a Boxster or a Cayman is because you can't afford a 911, well the only reason you buy a Z4M is because you don't want a 911.

Not exactly. For a lot of people sure but one reason I got this car before even the Cayman S came out was because of the learning curve of this car is a lot easier than that of the 911 variants. To be able to drive this car fast is easier than taking the 911 out and whipping it around tight bends as I do with my S. The 911 rear end would be more than I could handle without proper track instruction.

Most people I hear say that, cant afford either. I didnt really like the Cayman when it first came out, but it is starting to grow on me. I got a ride in one from a father of a kid on my soccer team and it is a really nice car, quick too. Plus for him, not buying the more expensive 911 (he would have wanted at the very least a Carrera S or 4S) allowed him to get another car along with the Cayman.

If I could afford a 911 Turbo, I probably wouldnt buy it. I would be happier with a S4 and a Cayman.

Really not true, If I had the money I would rather have a couple of cars then just one. I would take a nice boxster and an Impreza, Evo or a Monaro with it. 2 cars that are completely different but satisfy you in any way :D

Shit yeah, I would have my Boxster S, my current Golf GT and visiting the Audi dealership today the new RS4 Avant! Ok RS4 is 997S territory so the S4 will do.

What utter crap.

Why would anyone want 2 or 3 mediocre cars?

You want one very good car you can learn to master and get to know really well - a keeper that you won't get bored of after a year or 2.

I could have a Miata and an S2000 - but why? Or a Boxster and wheelbarrow - but why?

If I didn't have a C5 Z, I would have got a 964 or 993 and tweaked it a bit. (Heck, these days the 348 is creeping into the same price territory).

LOL, you're talking about avoiding mediocre cars and you start talking about a 348? :)
Granted, never driven one, but car is considered one of the worst engineered Ferrari's ever. Ask Jabba ;)

Anyway, isn't that the nice thing about people, all those different choices. If I had the money, I'd buy 2 cars. A daily commuter, and a balls out sportscar. Something like a A6 3.0 and a tuned Exige/Elise. I would never want a daily driver as a sportscar, concept is too much of a compromise for me.
