I think this is my first photo contribution here on JW. Glad it was a good one…

Here are the pics I got from the Porsche day at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, Mi.
It got rained out, but a few cars got out to make some laps before slicks and rain got to be too bad of a mix hahaha.
Not too many rare Porsches out there but a few showed up.

All pics can be found here: http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a240/garretts_turbo/porsche%20day%20at%20gingerman/

You snapped some pretty nice pics there...with some cars that I don't even recognize...what's the vehicle next to the 356 in the pic above?

Too bad about the rain...

Got some lovely porsches there, a lot of unkown for me and a lot of flared arches and huge wings :)

that spyder looks sooo familiar, but i can't put my finger on it... looks like it would've competed agaisnt the Testarossa...

Perhaps, but it looks to be more in the size/weight class of the Lotus 11.

i found a picture of it in one of my Porsche books... but no descriptor... it raced against a 904/8....

Ok...for those of us who are curious, the unidentified spyder with a Porsche badge on the nose is a 1962 (or later) Dolphin America with a 1700cc RS61 engine and drivetrain. It weighs about 1100 pounds which is about 160lbs less than the Porsche RS61.

^^ Yeah...it was a highly successful racer in the 63 season, and significantly outperformed the factory RS spyders from Porsche. In fact, the Porsche dealer who came up with the hybrid Dolphin/Porsche was put under heavy pressure to discontinue using and building them by the factory.
