CREW of the new Bond movie Casino Royale smashed up £500,000 worth of 007 cars in one AFTERNOON.

Three identical Aston Martin DBSs were flipped on their roofs during shots for a high-speed Alpine chase.

And within hours of the start of filming, the special edition V12 Astons created for the movie were wrecks.

The British car maker created the DBS for new 007 Daniel Craig, 38. It is not on sale, but experts say one would cost at least £165,000.

A source for the 21st Bond movie said: “These are easily the most amazing James Bond cars yet. They look incredible and cost a fortune. Unfortunately we had to smash three to pieces.
“It’s exactly the sort of thing James Bond would do.

“And in the style of 007, our stunt driver walked away without a scratch.”

The customised cars — which can do 0-60mph in four seconds — had special pistons built underneath to flip them over at the Millbrook Vehicle Proving Ground in Bedford.

shame to see them go :(

They were customised cars, probably some stuff stripped out and then reinforcements added for the pistons so that when the car flips, the stunt driver doesn't get impaled...

Never would have been road legal to begin with ;)

Wel.. it doesn't bother me much... they're not production cars, so it doesn't affect the production figures.

What really gets on my nerves is when they wreck classic cars, that won't be produced again... :(

Yea definitely, though that's a pretty rare occurance nowadays, as they're usually just handled by the 'stunt doubles' of the automotive world.

Absolutely true. I nearly cried when they wrecked the Lamborghini Miura, the 2 E-Types and the aston martin DB4 in The Italian Job (1969), what a shame

Should have been computer generated and raffled the Special edition cars.

I read he's a pussy, so I'm not surprised they used a stunt driver.

from what i understand from the movie industry they often use cheaper fiberglass replicas when they wreck the cars.

Well, the E-types may have been real, but the Aston was too expensive even back then to do a real wreck scene. They used a modified Lancia Fulvia convertible instead, and the Miura was a wrecked car to begin with, all the crew did was toss it over a cliff...it didn't even have an engine in it.

Dunno about the fibreglass, but the Z8 in "The world is not enough" has a chevy V8 in it. The Vanquish in Die Another Day has a Ford V8.
