nobody does anything for free.... there has to be an angle....

mabey they are running recognition software on calls placed to search for cirtain key words for advertising/marketing purposes...

i just have an inkering not to trust them...

They try to sell you extras like skype to mobile. There also working on a bunch of cross overs with ebay to allow you to talk to your buyers. Its a promotional device for other items.

I have Skype, but I just use MSN Messenger's voice feature if I feel like using a mic, considering nearly everyone has MSN, but next to noone has Skype...

Skype make money when ppl opt for the phone to skype or skype phone option. I used that when I am in Europe and it's pretty alright.

And most of the time waaay cheaper tha regular phone. I use it when travelling, if there's free web access ... Otherwise I just usem my mobile.

I use it quite a lot to talk to my gf (across the europe) skype to skype. it's even better than MSN webcam calls :wink:

heh, EVERY new company/business does this. And by this I mean,

Offer a free service for some pre determined time, and after that time has passed offer a "better" service for a small fee. By that time Skype will have (or hope to have) a good amount of users which will gladly pay the small fee because they have fallen inlove with their service..
