In April, my Ibiza was in the garage for the annual check - I got a 2006 Seat Leon overnight for a testdrive. It was a 2.0 FSI 16V 150 PS (not bad, but they didn't had a Leon Radical at that time)

Time for my first Indepth à la TT

Took the car out of the city and the first shooting was done around sunset. It was getting more and more dark for some night shots :D
I like the dashboard very much, the 0-mark at the bottom with vertical indicators is supercool 8) , and revs-gauge is in the center :P

but one thing I didn't got right were these damn panning shot.... I never passed the camera in the right time --> exactly when the timer was finished :bah:

Before bringing the car back, I passed Schmohl for a surprising group shot ... but this is another story ... more to come soon

I hope you liked it, any suggestions are welcome!

a nice update stmoritzer!

that is a car i'll never see on the road here, and for how small it is, im sure 150 hp would feel pretty nice :)

some really nice pictures, and great detail shots!

night shots are a total PITA for black cars IMO; and that said, it looks pretty nice

thanks

I kinda like the new Leon, especially the sportier versions of course, but this one isn't bad and the color pretty nice!
I love the pics taken in the late afternoon: light is always special but my fav are the forest pics at sunset ;)

Your pictures are nice, sharp and have good framing, well done!

I've tested a Leon about a month ago but haven't had time to edit my pics ...
The exterior looks pretty nice but the interior is so damn boring, especially the center console. What's your opinion on this car?

Nice work, we need a few more regular guys doing photoshoots/in depths/whatevers.

Its very rare to see a SEAT around here so its good to see it in pics, thanks. :D

the specification list 210km/h as vmax for this FSI, the 2.0l TSFI has 221km/h vmax ....

The dashboard is very cool (see pics), but you're right the center concole can be called "boring", since they are made of one piece, in plastic style :hmm:. On the other side I like the simple, logic, non-fancy style SEAT usually has :D

I got the 2.0 TDI up to an indicated 220+km/h, so I think the 260 might come in handy on the 2.0 TFSI. :)

Very great pictures stmoritzer ! I like the fact that you started an Indepth topic too. :P

Personally, I very like the styling of this new Seat Leon, it looks really good. :good:

Two weeks ago I saw a red SEAT Leon Cupra R in Montreal and it had a license plate from Spain. This is very very rare here because this car is not imported in North America, so my Seat sighting is nearly rare than to see a F40.

Well, not a bad idea dani, will thing about it, but not sure it's good to scatter things all over the forum ;) maybe I am just used to find our own reviews/photoshoots in here, and also, would be so damn painful to move all the topics :fuck:

^ you've been away this afternoon I guess, and as usual, after half a day, lots of thing changed in JW

There is this new section about "Jabbasworld Car Reviews"
http://www.jabbasworld.net/viewforum.php?f=199

with the idea of writing your personal impressions (driver seat not passenger seat impressions) of a car (Seat Leon or Diablo,..) in a post. There will be one thread for each car (similar to asphalte).
Maybe the pictures will be a seperate "Indepth" topic in WYST, and the written experiences of the drive will be posted in the new Review section (with link to the pic in the WYST/ link to your homepage) ...

... spanish plates in Canada??

Actually the old 225hp Cupra R is still one of my favourite hatches now - may be because I love the racing version...

There's a law in Canada coming from the Public Transport CDN which stipulates that it's possible for somebody to imported its own Euro car with his Euro license plate here in Canada for only one year. After one year if your Imported car is in part of the register of the legal cars in Canada you can keep it and change your plate for a Canadian license plate. But, sadly many cars such the mighty B5 RS4, Skylines, Evos... are illegal here so you can only buy one after 15 years, it's a very damn stupid law. :?

I share your point of view Dani about the racing version of the Cupra R, the car looks so nice and I very like when you post some pix of this special car.

While passing, congrats for your new statute of your homeland Catalonia state, it's always cool to have more autonomy and to be called a nation. :good:

Why are the B5 RS4, Evo and Slykline illegal in Canada?? because of the high output turbo engines?? :hmm: :?

While passing, congrats for your new statute of your homeland Catalonia state, it's always cool to have more autonomy and to be called a nation. :good:

Cool to see someone is interested in Catalonia at the other side of the pond..... :D :good:

The reason why those high-powered cars are illegal in Canada is very stupid, for a majority of them it's about insurance issues. The Canadian Federal Transportation agency tested those cars and if the amout of repairs are higher than +1000$ for a 10 km/h front crash, the car can't be sold here. (I don't remember the real amout of $) This is why many Car companies don't want to sell those cars here and they don't want to create a special front bumper to protect the Intercoolers and the Xenon headlamps just for the Canada market. Like you see it's a very stupid law. :silly:

Catalonia and Québec: The same fight for more autonomy !

Nice indepth St. Moritzer, I drive a Leon myself (old model) and I am serious thinking of getting the new Leon FR TDI 170 next year. Here is a pic of my speedo, got it up to 235 km/h once downhill with my wife sleeping on the passenger seat

Nice pics! But the car looks like just a German Civic type R... Kind of boring I don’t see the need for yet another FWD hatch...

VW Already has the GTI why do then need another one under the Seat badge?

Well VW has owned 100% of Seat since 1990. So no I don’t think there is anything Spanish about Seat at all anymore.

Any yes it looks A LOT like the Civic-R. And like the Mazda 3. A cross between the 2 actually. But who cares, just another FWD hatch. And don’t get me wrong the "hot hatch" has it place but the market is way over saturated with models that are all almost exactly the same thing. So hard to get excited about this car at all.

But the pics were really well done!

Well - it's designed and made in Barcelona... with german technology... and money. I'd say it's half spanish......... :D

Really? Are you sure it was really "designed" in Barcelona? Because most of those cars are just like a GTI with a seat skin on them. I mean I personally don’t know about this car but I'm sure a lot of Seats are just VWs with Seat skins.

Everyone does that now. The Jag X-type is just a Ford Touras with a jag skin. The Saab 9s are just Subaru’s with a Saab skin, The Volvo S40 is just a Focus with a Volvo skin etc. etc. etc.

Edit: Here you go, from wikipedia -

"The New Leon, based on VW Golf V platform, has a sharper look with the wipers hidden and the external rear doors handles more integrated but inside the plastics stay hard and rather dull. The DSG gearbox is only available with some engines. It is available with 1.6L, ..........."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seat_leon

So yes the Leon is just a golf with a Seat skin.

Most important for me is that it is a hothatch with a diesel engine. I need to drive a diesel for my work, and I do like hot hatches, thats why I love the Leon.

May be... but it's how the motor industry works these days  :P

... so - what's wrong with that??

That's the reason you have the Leon, the Golf, the A3... and the Octavia - so you can have design, comfort, luxury and a bargain all from the same platform :D

Well I don’t mind platform cars at all I just think it gets a little ridicules to saturate the market with the same car in different skins, and its even worse because every maker seems to want to dump 4 or 5 models of basically the same car in a few key areas, the "Hot Hatch" being one. The "mini-SUV" being another.

I mean we should try to list every current model of "hot-hatch” I bet the list would be 25 to 30 cars long! That is just over kill and unnecessary!

They SEAT has a mediterranean style, the "Auto Emocion" feeling - the Golf has for me the touch of "boring" german engineering ( nothing against the german quality work :!: ), but the reason I bought a SEAT Ibiza and not the similar Polo/Golf is the "wild", spanish-, macho- whatever style they are selling and the different design of the car :)
So you get a better styled car with the same proper german quality under the hood
