Makers of the death vans say the vehicles and injections are a civilized alternative to the firing squad, ending the life of the condemned more quickly, clinically and safely. The switch from gunshots to injections is a sign that China "promotes human rights now," says Kang Zhongwen, who designed the Jinguan Automobile death van in which "Devil" Zhang took his final ride.
State secret
For years, foreign human rights groups have accused China of arbitrary executions and cruelty in its use of capital punishment. The exact number of convicts put to death is a state secret. Amnesty International estimates there were at least 1,770 executions in China in 2005 — vs. 60 in the United States, but the group says on its website that the toll could be as high as 8,000 prisoners.
Nice place China is...

Wow.. crazy that they still lined up all the convicts and fired rounds at them.
And somewhat crazier they now have mobile death vans.. But it makes sense when you got a country as big and populated as China..

I don't get it, what's the purpose of executing someone in a van?
My guess is that there are lots of areas that are rural and that small towns or provinces are not able to handle the small amount of capital punishment cases they get each year. Plus, with China's lucrative body organ business, this vehicle would be a more efficient way of going around and 'picking' up the prisoners. Bet you they have a freezer in that thing to keep the bodies fresh.

I would consider rape and murder MORE barbaric to be honest, although I am undecided on the death penalty like this.
Talk about the chance of executing the wrong person...
I bet the average stay on detahrow for a Chinese prisoners is a couple days tops.
No wonder they have no appeal process there - it would interfere with the organ harvesting business for sure.

It's about to drop to 5 minutes  as soon as these vans are plentiful enough, they'll be parked outside the courthouse  Yet another population control device put in place by the commies

Interesting concept. Laws in China are a farce anyway.
