What is the best car chase in the history of cinema ??
In my opinion - "The Italian Job" (1969)

I didn't see the original Italian Job (shame on me)...
But I loved the car chases in Ronin with the Audi S8 vs Citroën XM & Peugeot 605 and the one with the BMW M5 vs Peugeot 406

RONIN!!...or the original gone in 60 secconds...the orig gone in 60 secconds had no digital enhancing at all =) they spent more time beating the crap out of the new cars so they would look like the totaled car that wouldn't run anymore really really nice chase scene
the new gone in 60 seconds is a disgrace compared to the old one 0X =)
omg youve people obviously never seen Bullitt

The scene in 'Gumball Rally' where the cars go roaring off down the middle of Manhatten. And the last 20 minutes of the film when the AC Cobra and Daytona Spyder duke it out to the finish line, no music except the melody of those engines.
I like when about 200 police cars chase the Bluesmobile in 'The Blues Brothers".

BULLITT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bullitt was too short and the car never appeared again in the film, so it made it a drag watching the rest.

bullitt or ronin. the mini chase in Bourne Identity wasn't too shabby either.

The chase scene with the TVR in Swordfish wasn't bad, just because it was a TVR.

Original Gone in 60 seconds. The whole movie was a car chase with a few bits put around it to call it a movie(seriously there was practically no plot, just a car chase).

Bullitt was good, and so was Ronin, but i have Ronin on DVD and not bullitt so i guess bulitt was not as good :D, ronin also had that french guy that was in the professional that is crazy, but back to cars i like the transporter / 765 omg!!!

there was as much plot in the orig gone in 60 then there was in the new one...yack lol
the only thing about the orig one..is it was made in the 70s so watching it now makes some parts really REALLY! slow and boring lol

No, but they did speed up the film a few times. Either way, it rules. Who doesn't like a 45 minute car chase? LOL
Ronin
Bourne Indentity
Duel
Italian Job, old and new
The chases in Bad Boys 1 and 2 weren't bad either

oh yeah !! I totally forgot about "The Rock". It was a really cool chase, because it took place in San Francisco and everybody knows what the streets are like there.

Havent actually seen Bullitt, but based on the movies that Ive seen, I would have to say that the Ronin chase scene was the most hardestcore car chase Ive seen. Bourne Identity would come in second just because I like those oldschool Mini's.

Bullit... This movie below shows the car car chase

The best is Ronin. Also there are more goods: Transporter, Canonball Run, Golden Eye (355 vs Aston martin), The Rock (355 vs Hummer), Bourne Identity (mini in city)...

I just downloaded the Bullitt clip. Cool as it is watching two old msucle cars get thrashed on the hills of San Francisco, it doesnt push the envelope quite enough for me.

Ronin is without a doubt the best car chase scene that I've ever, well, seen.
I also love Taxi for some more lighthearted, although nonetheless intense, driving.

I prefer the car chase in TAXI, the first one.
Peugeot 406 (Highly modified) vs 2 Mercedes 500 E.
Bullit is my second choice.

lol, the best car chase was definitely in Getaway in Stockholm 2 :)

The origininal gone in 60 seconds has the worst acting ever, but the car chase scence was just awesome. Terminator 2 and 3 had some good chase scence with big rigs.
This site is dedicated to car chases:

Umm..this may not count as a Car chase per se...but the movie Grand Prix has probably the best car action of any movie.

When I saw the bullit chase as a kid, I was AWED! But after downloading the chase from the Internet and replaying it few times, I see there's a bit of trickery. The chase in the city is only a couple corners taken but shot from different camera angles then cut and pasted together. You'll see the same blue bug and white chevy malibu a few times, but from different angles making you think the chase is longer and more drawn out.
Even though I feel a lil snookered, I still think bullit's the best chase scene. #2 would be TITANIC where that GIANT MOFO iceberg chases down that boat and SINKS IT. doesn't get any bigger than that folks!

The car chase in the new Gone in 60s was good with the GT 500. The other one that I liked was in Bad Boys 2 becasue instead of the cops driving police cars, they were driving a Ferrari 575M.
