Well, well, well. I had another brilliant day yesterday......headed for the track at around 7am in my friends 328.

Once on the freeway we caught the truck carrying the car I was so excited to see at the track - the F430 Challenge. Only 5 in Australia and this is the only one in Perth.

http://www.ozcarsightings.com/preview/june1.jpg

Little did I know about 6hrs later I would be going around the track in it for some hot laps. It was only a matter of asking and waiting my turn. I've already been around the track in the road-going F430 so I was keen to feel the difference. Straight line speed wasn't noticeably better but in the corners is where you felt it - my neck was sore after those few laps. The gearchange also feels alot more abrupt, plus its noiser in the cabin and alot less comfortable. I can't imagine driving the thing in an endurance race - I'd be stuffed!

Anyway here is an in-car video I took: http://www.ozcarsightings.com/430CH_Barbagallo.WMV

Now to the pics - taken with my new camera, a Canon 350D for those not aware. ;)

Yep it is and I raped it!

Dude, tell me you don't regret a bit having bought the 350D with such short "wondering time" :!:

It was totally worth the money. Picture quality went up a notch and especially panning shots which are now perfectly noise-free!

The pics are brillant, as we are used to, but even better image quality wise! The 430 Challenge with no stickers is such a stunner!!!!!!! Yellow AMV8 is damn cool too because quite rare, but the pearl of the day to my eyes is that mouthwatering blue 355

THANKS!

As for the contest, I'd like to pick one of the 430's pics, but the first panning shot of the V8 is so damn sharp.. not sure what to do ;)

Definately no regrets, I'm already in love! :D

Hmmm, the 430CH would probably attract more votes but the V8 panning shot is the better photo - need to think about it. ;)

I guess you definitely want to throw the 18-55 away now

Nah, it still has its uses. The shot of the 430CH on the back of the truck was taken with the 18-55 for example.

Also today I did a photoshoot where it was necassary due to the cramped surroundings in one of the locations......but yes whenever possible I'll use the 70-300. :D

Ok, it's clear, you need a replacement for the 18-55. :P 8)

Heh, that's what I meant to say, first you want to throw it through the window and then "wait, what if there's less than 10 meters space around the car" ... and you just start saving money for a replacement :P

The 350D rules, i have to try mine, i have just bought a 300D. It a little older than 350D but it was cheap. :P

Ok lets go to the pics, i have to say that your trackday pics are very good. I like the 430 C.... :P

But my fav pic is this:

Congrats with the 350D, Dingo ;) The improvement is best visible in the panning shots. They look a lot sharper and I can't notice any noise anymore. Picture quality is now even better as before! It definitely was a good decision to upgrade to a reflex camera.

I prefer the V8 Vantage panning shot as potm contender ;) Though I don't like the colour. Yes in yellow it's stands out from the other V8 Vantages, but that colour just doesn't suite the car.

Of all of your shot i love the Aston V8 the best. In fact i'm surprised to see the V8 looks so good in yellow. Ferrari Challenge looks good too.

Awesome stuff

The Vantage panning shot is amazing! You should use it for the POM contest.

Looks the new lens/camera combo is giving you better car/background separation and the panning shots have come out very sharp.

Wow, fantastic pics there mate...! Really love the 430CH, such a rare beast. Must have been a fantastic feeling to be able to drive that beauty. Haha, was just wondering if anyone noticed on the front windscreen of the Ferrari 430CH, there is a small notice, "Please do not request to drive this vehicle as refusal may offend" I found it very amusing as the owner must have really thought alot about the kind of responses he'll get when he goes out on track. He even bothered to do up the notice in a Ferrari Theme! Haha, just found it interesting and was wondering why no one brought it up. Lol! Anyway, really great pics overall, love em...

Try racing a shifter kart ;)

REAL nice pics dude! Seems like you've mastered the new DSLR pretty quick!

I really love that picture of the Red Diablo with one door up. That would be my vote for the POTM!

I didn't actually drive the car, just a passenger for 5 laps or so. ;)

Yeah I found the sign funny too, it was actually put on by the salesman at the dealership (Ray) not the current owner of the car (who actually owns the dealership). ;)

I love that pic too, but quality-wise I don't think its up there with the AMV8 panning shot.

Amazing day you had, I'm not jealous at all, no

The 430Challenge is a awesome car, my favourite photo is the rearshot #10
Saw my first 3 F430Ch last month (pics in queue), they were in black without sticker, also a nice color.
For sure I saved al AMV8Vantage pics

the Porsche panning shot salegosse was pointing out is great
Me likes also the silvergreyGallardo pics

Dingo,

Nice pictures mate !!! Congrats with your new camera, it's clear that you are immediately used to shooting with a DSLR :D

Nice panningshot of the Aston. The Aston by SportAuto which will participate in the 24H-race at the Ring is yellow as well :) It's a nice colour for this car although it isn't the first colour that comes to mind when it comes to an Aston.

Keep up the good work Dingo!

Cheers

Do I need to make the Page 2 button bigger?

Unfortunately that GT3 CS went home on the back of a truck after some sort of engine failure.....and he just had it serviced the previous day!

I thought that the button was something about the location of the event, since it's a small map of Australia. :)

I re-read it and i saw that you were "just" a passenger... When you said you would be going around the track i understood that you had driven it. My mistake. English is not my first language you know...

"Little did I know about 6hrs later I would be going around the track in it for some hot laps. Shocked It was only a matter of asking and waiting my turn. I've already been around the track in the road-going F430 so I was keen to feel the difference."
