Wednesday I went to the NS with three friends. Means of transportation was a friend's Subaru Impreza GT Turbo. We were all surprised by its ability to be a comfortable travel companion for four people and their luggage, despite its firm suspension and sport exhaust. It's a great performer and had plenty of traction on the wet Eifel twisties. Unfortunately my friend did not want to give it a go on the NS, but one has to respect that. Although we might have made some remarks about it whenever he was complaining about slow traffic on the Ring that had no business there. :P

Wednesday at the entrance. The track was opened from 17.15 till 19.30. It wasn't very busy yet, but a good number of UK drivers had already arrived. Lotuses, BMW Ms, fast Audis and the first AM V8 Vantage I saw. What a gorgeous car! It's even better proportioned than the DB9 IMHO. The M6 sounded brilliant with its aftermarket exhausts, but I hated the wheels. There were a lot of carfreaks.net members, judging by the stickers.
I'm not the best photographer and I don't aspire to be one. It's just point and shoot, so no flames please. :wink:

A little while later the track was closed due to an accident, so we drove to Brünnchen, only to find the track still closed. As the clock was indicating nearly 19.00, we reckoned it wasn't about to reopen anymore. After dinner, back to the hotel for a good night's sleep.
Thursday, an early start to make the most of it. The hotel owner's brother is the owner of the Elise. A very nice sight when you get out of bed and open the curtains!

We went to Breidscheid, which was an excellent place to spot the cars. I say cars, because on this day and especially the very rainy friday, the bikes mainly stayed off the track.
The E30 M3s were everywhere! :D There was another V8 Vantage, which was being driven very well. And I can tell you, Jeremy Clarkson wasn't lying when he said you can hear it a mile away! :mrgreen:

From Breidscheid we walked up towards Wehrseifen. The 360 Modena was out lap after lap. It wasn't going very fast though. In the driver's defense I have to say conditions would vary all the time with some drizzle now and then and a mid-engined car is likely to surprise you when it turns out grip levels are lower than expected.
As we were walking from one spot to the other and the track was obscured by bushes, I heard a V10 that wasn't a BMW V10. A while later I knew what it was: a CGT! :shock: Apparently a yellow one also was there on friday but we missed that one. I managed to get the grey one in a pic though.

Then it was time for the highlight of the trip: the Ringatxi ride! Our driver was Claudia Hürtgen, who was very nice and drove the M5 at an awesome pace. She also granted my request for some sideways action. The double powerslide through Adenauer Forst was incredible! I hope to find a pic of it somewhere on the net, because it must have been an impressive sight! The lap felt like it was over in two minutes. I had a huge grin on my face during the lap and after. I can recommend it to everyone!!!
So afterwards we went to Adenauer Forst. Again, incredible bends. It's quite a walk up a steep road to get there, but it's worth it.
A Z06 followed by a loud and fast S4 and Mondeo ST220. And a yellow Cerbera.

From T13 to Hatzenbach to Hocheichen we saw many things. The greatest car we saw was a huge surprise: a yellow F40! I believe it is the ex-Rod Stewart car. By then it was raining a little more, so the driver is a hero in my book! Coaches should not be allowed on the Ring IMO. The Jag XJ was really giving it some stick over both days. It shows the car has been tested by Jaguar at the Ring!

On friday we first stopped for fuel at the ED tankstelle, where we saw this agressive Alfa Romeo GT.

Then it was on to Brünnchen. This time the track was open. Sadly it was raining continually. However, armed with a good umbrella you get used to it pretty soon. Especially when you realise it prevents the bikes from venturing out onto the track and the track was almost solely occupied with experienced drivers. All in all it was very entertaining! The 911 GT3 RS in the fifth picture was probably the fastest car out there. The driver was driving very clean and smooth lines, but it was so damn fast!

From Hohe Acht we descended the Steilstrecke. It certainly lives up to its name as it really is so steep that if the wet pavement would have been smooth we would have slid the whole way down to Steilstreckenkurve! From there we walked to the Karussel and then back to Brünnchen.

After that we met up with a few friends of mine at Breidscheid before we went back home. Needless to say, for anyone who read this report, the trip was definitely worth it! I very much look forward to my next visit!!

Wednesday at the entrance. The track was opened from 17.15 till 19.30. It wasn't very busy yet, but a good number of UK drivers had already arrived. Lotuses, BMW Ms, fast Audis and the first AM V8 Vantage I saw. What a gorgeous car! It's even better proportioned than the DB9 IMHO. The M6 sounded brilliant with its aftermarket exhausts, but I hated the wheels. There were a lot of carfreaks.net members, judging by the stickers.
I'm not the best photographer and I don't aspire to be one. It's just point and shoot, so no flames please. :wink:

A little while later the track was closed due to an accident, so we drove to Brünnchen, only to find the track still closed. As the clock was indicating nearly 19.00, we reckoned it wasn't about to reopen anymore. After dinner, back to the hotel for a good night's sleep.
Thursday, an early start to make the most of it. The hotel owner's brother is the owner of the Elise. A very nice sight when you get out of bed and open the curtains!

We went to Breidscheid, which was an excellent place to spot the cars. I say cars, because on this day and especially the very rainy friday, the bikes mainly stayed off the track.
The E30 M3s were everywhere! :D There was another V8 Vantage, which was being driven very well. And I can tell you, Jeremy Clarkson wasn't lying when he said you can hear it a mile away! :mrgreen:

From Breidscheid we walked up towards Wehrseifen. The 360 Modena was out lap after lap. It wasn't going very fast though. In the driver's defense I have to say conditions would vary all the time with some drizzle now and then and a mid-engined car is likely to surprise you when it turns out grip levels are lower than expected.
As we were walking from one spot to the other and the track was obscured by bushes, I heard a V10 that wasn't a BMW V10. A while later I knew what it was: a CGT! :shock: Apparently a yellow one also was there on friday but we missed that one. I managed to get the grey one in a pic though.

Then it was time for the highlight of the trip: the Ringatxi ride! Our driver was Claudia Hürtgen, who was very nice and drove the M5 at an awesome pace. She also granted my request for some sideways action. The double powerslide through Adenauer Forst was incredible! I hope to find a pic of it somewhere on the net, because it must have been an impressive sight! The lap felt like it was over in two minutes. I had a huge grin on my face during the lap and after. I can recommend it to everyone!!!
So afterwards we went to Adenauer Forst. Again, incredible bends. It's quite a walk up a steep road to get there, but it's worth it.
A Z06 followed by a loud and fast S4 and Mondeo ST220. And a yellow Cerbera.

From T13 to Hatzenbach to Hocheichen we saw many things. The greatest car we saw was a huge surprise: a yellow F40! I believe it is the ex-Rod Stewart car. By then it was raining a little more, so the driver is a hero in my book! Coaches should not be allowed on the Ring IMO. The Jag XJ was really giving it some stick over both days. It shows the car has been tested by Jaguar at the Ring!

On friday we first stopped for fuel at the ED tankstelle, where we saw this agressive Alfa Romeo GT.

Then it was on to Brünnchen. This time the track was open. Sadly it was raining continually. However, armed with a good umbrella you get used to it pretty soon. Especially when you realise it prevents the bikes from venturing out onto the track and the track was almost solely occupied with experienced drivers. All in all it was very entertaining! The 911 GT3 RS in the fifth picture was probably the fastest car out there. The driver was driving very clean and smooth lines, but it was so damn fast!

From Hohe Acht we descended the Steilstrecke. It certainly lives up to its name as it really is so steep that if the wet pavement would have been smooth we would have slid the whole way down to Steilstreckenkurve! From there we walked to the Karussel and then back to Brünnchen.

After that we met up with a few friends of mine at Breidscheid before we went back home. Needless to say, for anyone who read this report, the trip was definitely worth it! I very much look forward to my next visit!!
