In Sydney, between the times 2:30-4pm, the speed limit is 40kmh in school zones. I was caught doing 50kmh at 2:43pm.

This is the story i'm going to give the judge. Please act lke a judge and see if you could understand it?

"Approximately 2 weeks before the offence, I had purchased a 17 year old car with an expired registration. Since the registration had expired, I had taken the car to a near by garage, where it was kept for a few days receiving a safety inspection. I have a receipt showing the date I purchased the car and also registration papers showing the date it was allowed back on the road.

As this car was new to me at the time, I hadn’t had the time to fully familiarise myself with the car. I am very well aware of school zones and the times they come into effect. However, as the car was new to me, I didn’t realise the clock was faulty. It was only later when I looked at another clock that I knew the time in my car was running 15-20 minutes slow. I now know the clock automatically runs slow even though a right time is set. Therefore, this minor fault has caused me to speed through a school zone at 2:43pm."

Thats bloody brilliant!!!!!!

The fine I was talking about in the other thread was also in a school zone, 72kmh in a 40kmh area......so I could get it reduced to a 72kmh in 60 zone, $100. :D

Let me know how you go and I'll also give it a try. ;)

If you appear in court looking like a nerd, then yes I would believe you, otherwise you're gonna pay baby :D

$250/4 points.....I was pretty happy with that acutally (considering).

I was overtaking a bitch the pulled out in front of me, then its merged into one lane and became a school zone.....no chance.

If I were judge I will accept your reason.

hard to say... it really depends on the judge. hopefully it works out.

I just find it damn funny you get pulled over for such small amounts over the limit (thanks to being in KPH vs. MPH)... so 10 kph is about 6 mph... only a dickhead city cop will even think of pulling you over if he needs to meet his quota... they usually wait til at least 11 mph over, so nearly 20 kph over :P

it gets worse, I've been fined ($50) for doing 67kmh in a 60kmh zone....so thats 4.3mph over the limit.

/\/\/\wow mate you really like to take it up the ass from the law then?

Fuck that!

Every single parking ticket, everysingle speeding ticket you go to court and deny it.

Whats teh worst that can happen? You pay the fine.

Whats the best that can happen? The cop that fined you never shows up and you are off free.

10 kph over is not much on a motorway where the speeds are high compared with residential roads where it could be 25% higher than the posted speed.

In the US, especially in California they will get you for going 30 in a 25 mph zone but leave you if you went 65 in a 60 mph zone.

SFD, maybe that's the way over there but not here. Here a cop doesn't have to show up, it's the DA that does all the talking.

ah thats gay then.

Here you just take it to court.

It takes a year to actually get to court, and then most of the time the cop wont show up and your free :D

And incase the cop does show up the worst that can happen is pulling the fine on the ticket.

And most of the time you can knock it down a few bucks by denying it.

^ I should have done that with one of the tickets I got, but I was too lazy and when I asked for cout date, I was late.

i'd let you talk until you were blue in the face and then stick you with the fine anyway. especially since it's usually another 30 bucks in court fees. It's not worth it to fight tickets unless it's a fix it ticket or blatantly defeatable (ie cop screwed up filling out the ticket and marked your ford as a ferrari). The story you've cooked up is full of holes anyway and any judge with some common sense will see right through it.

Just be a man and pay the damn ticket and pay more attention to your clock.

well the story is true anyway, how am i suppose to know all its faults (there are many) in less than 2 wks. even if i lose, its an extra $50 in court fees.

i don't mind the fine, its the points i don't want to give, even though i haven't lost one yet.

Serisouly, if i was the the judge i woudn't accept it. It just looks like those excuses to get safe really, however, depending on the judge he might accept it cause after all there was no harm done right.

anyways i've explained my situation and so far its acceptable.

cars only go for safety inspections, other things don't get checked. anyways i only asked if you understood my explanation not whether you would believe it. i had spoken to soliitors before i elected to goto court. otherwise it would of been plain dumb. only because they said its possible i only chose to goto court
