I just changed my oil/oil filter for my Jeep (inline 6 cylinder 4.0) which requires 6 quarts of oil.

I put in 5.5 quarts or so, and figured i could put another 1/2 quart to 1 quart in in the morning.

so I finish up, tighten everything up... and start the car; and I'm now not reading any oil pressure on the guage. I've never had a problem like this before, and hoping that my pump hasn't for some reason broken.

the dip stick test shows add, but only by the slightest of margins.

I drove her around the block, and nothing feels strange. I dont have a mechanical oil pressure guage... so i can't tell really where the problem is...

the real question I have is this:Should i be driving?

I have an some business travel about 1.5 hours away first thing in the morning.

I'm wondering if I unplugged this switch

which is right next to the filter... i'll check that in the morning

there's a pretty good chance that over the years the connector has become brittle due to the heating and cooling cycles and when you removed the filter, you may have inadertently broken it free. if so, you're going to have a hard time locking it back in place.

Is there any oil leaks from around the sensor? that probably won't help anything, and if the oil got inside the connector, it could be taking the voltage signal straight to ground, instead of your guage.

It's a little to coincidental that your oil pressure would quit on you right after an oil change, so i think mechanically, your lubrication system is fine.
