You should check out the 944 forums at www.rennlist.com

They have saved me a lot of money becuase no matter what problem you have with teh car, some one there has already had it and knows how to fix it. Stop by some time.

yeh I'm so stoked! Its such a blast to drive! Its the first really fast car that I've driven on a regular basis. Such a balanced and smooth car! Only I discovered it has a 130km/h speed limiter....makes overtaking on the highway a little bit of a pain in the arse...

edit: thanks for the site also! But I already work at a spare parts store here ;) only we don't do porsche parts :( so I'm keen to find all the maintenance parts online...

130 km/h? Are you sure it's not 130 m/h? I think it is, in fact I think it's even higher than that, what year is it? Mine is an S and it's limited at 167 m/h (269 km/h) but that will soon be changed with new software ;). I think yours is a lot higher than that, in fact I'm sure of it. I can go 130 km/h in 3rd gear.

BTW, I recommend that site more for its knwledge base than as a place to get parts, plus you'll meet some more aussies there.

well folks...just found out its not a limiter....it was a freakin timing belt! HAHAHAHA!

Oh well! The joys of owning a porsche! She's getting all the required work done atm...oh god I want her back!

such a blast to drive! I'll get some pics of her when she comes back!!

I just so happen to have an 86 944 Turbo, see my topic "I drive a watercooled Porsche". Watch that timing belt, did it break entirely or slip a tooth? I hope for your sake it just slipped. That engine is an interference engine meaning the pistions slam into the valves if the belt breaks. And if it doesn't already get the Hella H4's, they will improve night-time driving 10 fold, the original sealed beams are gross. Oh an some pics! If you ever need technical advice I'd love to help, also www.rennlist.com is good.

my good friend of mine got a 944 last year for only 1800. Its a 1983 and its in excellent condition. Still hauls ass and beats those whack rice burners we see driving around.

Porsches are always nice. Drove once in a 944. Not the most beautiful Porsche, but it is a Porsche :D

944s was amazing suffered a touch from understeer but a good rally flick usually gets the back out. can be a bit tricky in the wet or with the wrong tire pressures though
