i'm 23... 20/20

of course they didn't include many eastern europe questions to further make the results seem "bad" since we were tought for the first 10 years of our lives that eastern europe basically has one country; USSR

oh, and Africa... how many times have coutnries changed names/boarders in the last decade even

I think you are wrong. Kids before age of 18 in Poland have to learn by heart all the countries on the world with their capital city. All the main rivers ( it's not 10 or 20 rivers), all the deserts and stuff like this. You actually should know the globe very well. before you go to university. I've been in Australia and I was studying there too so I can say if there is a difference. And belive it or not it's a huge difference. We in Poland have to learn much more. Ofcourse most of it is useless in the future but still you know much more. I've been talking with my cousin who studies in Germany and even there is a easier too, comparing to Poland. However the schooling system in Poland slowly "lowers" and it's becoming easier, more American. I'm not saying that Americans are dumb or sth couse it's not true. Not all Americans are stupid and not all Europeans are smart. :)
But It's something more than educational system in the country, it's about people and the way they are risen by parents too I think. (sorry for spelling :) )

I got 18/20, which isn't too bad and the only ones I got wrong were the country with the most exports (US, but I thought China) and the percentage of US population growth due to immigration (I thought 22% but it's actually 33%). In any case, I don't really think this is a particularly well-worded and well-thought out test for the well-roundedness of people 18-24 years of age.

18/20. Didn't know the one about immigration's impact of population growth in the US and the cause of the New Orleans flood. But then, I'm not from the US so I really don't know such things.

I have to ask what some of these things prove, I mean:
6 in 10 young Americans don't speak a foreign language fluently.
This is important how? I speak some german, but not fluently. That doesnt reflect on my knowledge of the world.

20% of young Americans think Sudan is in Asia. (It's the largest country in Africa.)
I knew the answer, but given the amount of change in Africa, and given very few if any people from anywhere vacation or go there, Id beg to question so?

Which of these cities is the setting for the original television series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation?
I hate new tv shows, that matters why?

Only 37% of young Americans can find Iraq on a map—though U.S. troops have been there since 2003.
While important in number ways, I have to wonder how they ask that. I certainly could point pretty damn close, but if you removed the names of them, and the borders, whats the likelyhood my finger would be on iran rather then iraq?

In 2004, what percentage of population growth in the U.S. was due to immigration?
This matters why?

The most heavily fortified border in the world exists between which two countries?
Why?

The not knowing where new york is amounts to the only thing that gives me pause.

looks like you didnt get alot
to be honest ... there is no point of this survey .. but then again im totally wrong ....
the main point that i think is knowing how many american kids know what the world is going through right now .....
like current affairs or social studies as whats it called here ....
and since i hate the subject i dont give a fuck atall about this survey .... i didnt even attempt it cuz its just a waste of my 10 mins which i rather spend on doing somethting i want or llike ....
and anyway .. people who areactually involved in current affairs and shit dont ahve time to get involved into small surveys such as this one .... the only people who attemptthese surveys have lots of free time and dont give a fuck what the world is going through .... thus the bad results ..... i donno what i just said :|

Actually I only missed 1.. But I have to admit I took educated guesses on the ones about CSI: eastbumble f### or whatever it is, the immigration numbers, and the fortefied border.

i really have to wonder exactly who thier demographic for polling was...

18-24 year olds is a wide array of both educated, and uneducated persons... feminazi's, and paris-hilton's in training.

is it so suprizing that so many failed? the world (not just he US) is full of supid people

20/20 This survey was way to easy IMO....

Im not surprised by the result NG got when they did this survey tough.....

We know our geography when it comes time to blow other countries up and thats all that matters.

The country/continent questions would be common knowledge questions everyone should know. Amongst 18-24 year olds, in a country gripped by this nonsensical forensic science franchise called CSI, one would expect them to have at least heard of the show.

Why? Is it a prerequisite to own a tv? I for one only watch the 80s station and dvds. I only know of csi from hearing someone mention it. What does knowing anything about it show of anything? That Im young and have alot of time to waste?

Mattk

Well you've heard of it, so quod erat demonstrandum. I don't watch CSI. I've personally watched around two episodes of CSI: Miami, and none of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, yet I know where it's set.
