I would be interesting in seeing the V16 Bugatti ... I knew that Bugatti made some aero or is it rail engines that 12 or 16 cylinder configurations but didnt know that they put a 16 cylinder in a car...
I though the only 16 cylinder used in the car in the 30s, 40s was the Cadillac V16

ok just researched it and its a bugatti atlantique which has a inline 8 engine but on the way it looks on the model,it makes it seem like a V16 sorry about that

i think this is better than other model ive came across, only thing im dissappoint about is that the seats arent fabic like on the impreza and R32 but the detailing on it is amazing,it has HSV on the silencers on the exhaust and flip down sun visions and even proper fabic head shelding under the bonnet  i also like the fact in this that the carpet is softer than the impreza and r32.

CMC SLR
Koysho M3 GTR road car
I did get the CMC SLR but it arrived damaged  but the place i got it from have offered to replace it so i sent back the damaged model and currently waiting on the replacement.both wing mirrors were broken and were not in the box and as the boxes were undamaged and none of the tape cut then it must have been damaged at the factory and they still send it out.

got this when i was out today :P
well went to the local model store and they had this, special edition from corgi to celebrate their 50th year.
For england they made a Bristol lodekka, for wales a van hool t9,for ireland aburlingham seagull, and for scotland the Wright solar fusion run by doig's of glasgow which operates between the 2 strathclyde university capuses.
only 2006 models made, mines is number 1010,also comes with a timetable of the bus and a wooden plinth, the other thing about this thing was the price  most 1:76's corgi buses i see are around £20,this was £50  although i got it for £45 :)

also only found out at midnight that there was a model show in glasgow on yesterday and sent off an email asking if i could bring some models along, then got a phone call this morning asking if i still wanted to come along.choice of taking cars was hard to ended up taking 5! the 3 brock cars, cmc slr and the gallardo to attract attention.was rather busy
http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/9787/pict0226jh4.jpg
and got stuck with a table on my own
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/3646/pict0117rs5.jpg
i was one of only 3 people with cars there, the rest was mainly planes, boats and tanks.as soon as i put out the SLR there a group of 5 people just crowded round and one of the guys was asking if i had a birdcage as he collects cmc, franklin mint and another company i cant remember.slr seemed to be the ice breaker so to speak :) people were glancing across looking at it then noticing the CMC label and then coming up and having a look at the other stuff.noone seem to noticed the ickle blue monaro though :(
but rather busy none the less :)
http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/6088/pict0190xp7.jpg
the bathurst cars seemed to more popular with people that knew what there were about(if you know what i mean) where as the supercars were more popular with the younger kids, more so with one kid when everytime he would walk by he would always come over and take loads of pictures of the slr
got alot more attention towards the end and one guy rather liked my torana,he was saying he collects older bathurst cars and had a few falcons along with a number of exotos :D good day :) need to get out to more shows!

first models of 2007 and you guessed it,SKODAS!
first one i bought was this ixo octavia wrc, signed by the driver armin schwarz :) got a decent price on it.

http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h44/amd_diecast/signed%20armin%20schwarz%20skoda%20octavia%20wrc/
next was this china dealer octavia, got this for almost half price :)
pretty decent model, some little niggles about it though

and also got sent this by a member of a model forum. really good read, better than any of the diecast mags ive came across in the uk,did like the bit about the peter brock collection but i felt they didnt go into much detail on some of the models, and also to my surprise there was an article about the guy that did my brock daytona :D

i love this car! best part for me is the hinges on the boot.it opens normal as if it was a normal boot then swings up full to the full 90 degrees :) ,the model is also imo visually stunning and i love that they have fitted it with the opitional sports seats.only real problem i have with the car is that its black and it seems to hide the defineing features of the 1:1 RS4 but im still happy i have it :)

fell in love with this model first time a seen this at the edinburgh show last year. The de Havilland Mosquito my all time favourite plane,it is beautiful.the plane was made entirely of wood as there was a lack of aluminium(which is what most of the planes were made of at the time)hence was nicknamed "The Wooden Wonder" or "The Timber Terror".it was also the fastest plane at the time reaching 415 mph at 28,000 ft running 2 supercharged merlin V12's producing 1710bhp each,it was also the first plane to bomb berlin during world war 2 and also made Hermann Göring envious :D the model is made of diecast, the bomb carrier is also made of metal as well as the stand due to how much the model weighs!

well here it is,the 1/12 gallardo.this is a sentamental model in a way,now i have to admit im not a fan of supercars as they are abit too obvious in a manner of speaking, but imo the gallardo is something its trying not to be,its abit more quieter than a 430/911gt3/turbo/gt etc and more comfortable.now i bought the silver 1/18 gallardo last year for the sake of it,few extra quid left like the idea of the extras so thought why not.nice little model it was.then a last month a guy called liam turns up at one of our local tuners with his very own silver gallardo,so got chatting and told him that i had a 1/18 model of a silver gallardo and would love a go in the real thing(been around knockhill in a few seriously modified cars so would love to experience it in a car built for speed rather than one modified for it) and he said sure to come looking for him in a while and he would take me out on the track in it,so it got to the end of the session 15mins left and i find liam and ask if its still ok for a go round the track and he says sure jump in but as im getting ready someone goes off the track and they end the trackday.just as a passing joke i ask if there was any chance of a lift to dunfermline as i couldnt get a lift back to glasgow and had to get the bus and to my surprise he said sure why now  .the sheer power of the thing is unbelieve, ive been in 500-600bhp cossies and skyline and they didnt feel half as brutal as this!so it was a simple case the next morning of i NEED a 1/12 gallardo NOW!!! after some searching i found one for 390usd shipped which i thought great! but the guy didnt have any in stock and said it would be around a month so started looking in the uk and everyone wanted between 270gbp and 300gbp for them in the uk then i called a local store who runs swapmeets and asked if any traders there might have any and he said no as he was the only one in scotland to get them so i asked how much.........£199.95  before he could finish i was like i want one now!! order now!! then finally the call came on thursday and well here she is :)
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h44/amd_diecast/thumb/dscf8451hg5.jpg
the model is just beautiful, even the store owner was saying how beautiful it is,everythings there exactly as it is on the 1/1 even down to the hinges

the only kinda drawback i have is that i just feel theres something missing,i cant explain it but its like when you buy a cmc or an exoto or a cc or indeed some aa's you have a feeling of yes this is the best there wont be one better than this, well with this i just dont get that feeling that this is the best, but i dont care just look at it :D

Why are you so interested in the aussie V8 Supercar championship being from Scottland? I've seen you have lots of models from that race series :hmm:
Just curious...
Alot of them are from Brock if I can remember, maybe he's just a major fan
Andrew
06-15-2007, 06:58 PM
yeah most of them are brock cars but i love the aussie V8's for the fact its the only decent touring car series in the world.BTCC died in '96 and dtm is just a pure excuse for a touring car championship(not saying its bad but they are more like GT racing rather than touring cars now) the aussie V8's have basicly been the same since the beginning,Holden vs Ford,V8 road cars rwd H style gearbox, non of this high revving sequential rubbish  only decent thing in the btcc is jason plato for the fact he is old school, but i get annoyed at the fact that when he races you seem him nudge and rub people(as touring car racing should be) but after the race you get like matt niel or whoever he nudged ranting and raving about what he did etc etc, where as in the V8's you get the nudging and rubbing and exciting racing and the other driver doesnt complain....well except lowndes :P and theres also alot of passion with the fans and the sport that you only get a major events such as le mans.
mini rant over

Im a fan of the Aussie cars too but mostly the roadcars like Ford Falcon FPV and Holden Monaro/Commodore. I do enjoy the Holden/Ford battles though, they are great. What I also love about those races is that they can actually interview the drivers while they are in the middle of the race, for lets say asking about accidents :P

on the outsite the model is fantastic, the shape of it is better than CC's 24hr bathurst winner,i thought the hoodpins on the cc were good but these are amazing  interior and engine wise cc is way ahead, also this is a hell of alot lower than the CC version, infact the front spoiler on the biante car fits under the front spoiler on the CC one!.being the rarest signed brock model (only 2004) and considering i got it for a fair amount less than the current average brock car price im really happy with it :D

maybe one of the most talked about models to come out this year, the good old bentley blower. Not a lemans winner but somehow a very famous car.the screws on it are smaller than normal so i couldnt unscrew them :(

http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h44/amd_...ower/?start=all (http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h44/amd_diecast/Bentley%20Blower/?start=all)
mines is the DE version orginally when these came out a couple of months back they were around £140 but recently bentley and minichamps have thought that was abit cheap and have jacked it up to £180!! and if you think its mainly diecast, erm nop! alot of it is plastic! not looking good is it  but maybe they used leather on it? nop the seats are plastic and i have my doubts on the straps.what about the wheels? plastic! the bonnet? plastic! fenders? PLASTIC! you can see where this is going.
so is there anything to like about this model? well yes.even though it is mainly plastic, the car is beautiful theres no other word for it and fantasicly detailed.i have to admit i find MC's models crap but theirs DE's are second to none and the hinges are admittedly the best ive seen on a model! The straps are a nice touch but an utter b*stard.
so is this model worth £180+?
NO!!!!!
so why does it cost so much? simple answer being they know we will buy this! i only paid £100 for this from a guy who works for bentley and imo it was worth the £100 but then again most of my models after postage come to around the same so in a sense im used to that kinda price.i would say if you can find one for a similer price(theres a couple on ebay for £110) and you want it then get it.for £180? well you must ether really really want one or youve done a good job avoiding the men in white coats :)

well this finally made it  1930 Bentley Speed Six "Blue Train Special" some background on the model.
In 1930 the coachbuilders Gurney Nutting produced this fixed head coupe for capt Woolf Barnato, who was at the time Chairman of Bentley Motors. A stunning car that is truly unique, just one example with this body style was ever produced. This design is unusual as it features a third seat mounted "side-saddle" beneath the sloping roof.
Known as the "Blue Train Bentley",this Speed Six is one of the most famous Bentley's of all time. Its name is take from a famous challenge that took place in 1930 and saw Barnato race "Le Train Bleu" that ran the lenth of France between Cannes and Calais.
Whilst dinning on a friend's Yacht in Cannes,Barnato entered into a casual wager that he could not only race the Train to Calais in his Bentley Speed Six(it had been done before), he could in fact cross the channel to England before the train arrived in Calais.
Such was Barnato's pace at the wheel of his Speed Six that, despite a puncture and failing to find the fuel lorry he had arranged near Auxerre,he not only beat the train but also managed to arrive back in London four minutes before the train arrived in Calais, thus winning the £200 wager.(He was subsequently find the equivalent of £160 by the French authorities for an illegal motor race through France, which he failed to pay.)
This twist in the tale is that some now believe this car may not have been completed at the time of the race and it was another Speed Six owned by Barnato that took part in the epic run,but this unique Bentley will be forever known as the car that beat the Blue Train.
(A dramatisation on Woolf Barnato's own account of the Blue Train episode.)
Blue Train Special
Once upon an enchanted time, a sporty gentleman by the name of Captain Woolf Barnato was guest at a smart 1930's dinner party in Cannes.
Captain Barnato was a businessman of substance, a celebrated racing driver, and a noted bon vivant. No doubt there was fine cuisine and good company at the table that evening, but we might guess that he nevertheless was feeling a little restless…
Talk around the table had swung round to the topic of motor cars; in particular to an advertisement by a manufacturer of the day claiming that his machine had gone faster than the famous Blue Train express as it journeyed on its way from Cannes to the French Channel port of Calais.
Barnato smiled. He contended that just to go faster than the Blue Train was of no special merit. Why, at the wheel of his own Speed Six Bentley, he declared, he could arrive in England before The Blue Train reached Calais! That would indeed be a test of man and machine. Would he care to prove it? He would!
The next day, as at 5:45 PM The Blue Train steamed out of the station at Cannes. Captain Barnato, with one of his friends who had gallantly offered to act as a relief driver, took to the mighty Bentley and set off at the double.
From Lyons onwards they had to battle against heavy rain. At 4:20 AM, in Auxerre, they lost time searching for a refueling rendezvous. Through central France they hit fog, then shortly after Paris they had a burst tyre, requiring the use of their one and only spare. And yet, racing non-stop through the night along the bumpy, 1930's Routes Nationales, they reached the coast at 10:30 AM, sailed over to England on the cross-Channel packet, and were neatly parked outside The Conservative Club in St. James's Street, London, by 3:20 PM - four minutes before The Blue Train was to arrive in Calais!
Woolf Barnato, a millionaire sportsman, had a number of swashbuckling Bentleys specially built for him in the 1930's including a 61/2 litre, 3-seater coupe with coachwork by Gurney-Nutting. The redoubtable Captain Barnato was long an admirer of W.O. Bentley's engineering expertise and during the 1930's invested heavily in Bentley Motors, and was appointed its Chairman.
A distance of over 570 miles, having maintained an average speed of 43.43 mph. (Re-printed from the Spring 1995 Quest Magazine)
In truth the car that really did the race was a speed six le mans race car with a Mulliner saloon body.this blue train car was deliveried a couple of weeks later and named after the race.
now onto the model! The model really is beautiful and there is nice little details on it for example the leather strap used as the hinge for the boot and the tools in it.the engine is also massive! not as detailed as cmc or exoto but its nice enough.thankfully on this the wings and bonnet are metal!!! (yay!! :D ) and as on the blower my favourite part of the model is the door and bonnet hinges,i havent seen nicer hinges on another model before.
