So, before placing my vote, let's try to spend some words about every picture. As always, if I criticize something it is not because I consider myself above the person, an expert or whatever.. I just post my impressions as the photonut I am, period :) personal preferences are just that :) and if critics can help somebody improve, that's even better!

P_zero - Well, this is a great picture.. cars placed like you wanted, good light, good winterish colors. Personally I would have moved the frame a bit upward, but it's just me :)
pzgren - nice cars in unusual conditions are always a thrill. A Carrera in such snowy conditions is very nice to my eyes. Now that Spring is coming, the pic looks a bit "outdated" LOL, but damn cool
TT - holy shit, that's a frigging Miura :D
dingo - your art is improving with minutes passing: every shoot is leagues better than the preview, which already was perfect :) With the CLS you outdone yourself again and this picture is organismic good! The kind of pic I would have liked to shoot myself :good:
MIHALS - This is a simple one. nice car at evening/night with a tripod. Always cool! Once again, the frame is too low IMO.
Smylait - Stunning pic: rare car in front of an hotel and nobody around. You obviously had to have a pretty tight frame to have the car alone, but we know in Paris it is impossible to shoot a wide angle picture showing the hotel, the car and still no other cars or ppl, so, considering the conditions, you did a perfect job! Very nice light and colors too
80ssport - Nice and tidy. Could be used by that dealer for their ads actually. A bit of a pity you can barely see F50 and F1 behind the Diablo.. they would add to the drama, but nonetheless, great pic!
eurocopter - not a supercar, yet a superb picture! Amazing setting, I just love it!
sl55kleemann - this is a nice picture of a nice Ferrari, the tight frame is ok and all, but it's just too simple IMO. Well exectured, but a bit plain probably. The grey sky doesn't help
twboy - another cool setting, well staged! Good contrast between the wall and the M5 :good:
komotar - this one put me on my ass Cyril! YOu have many occasions to shoot nice picture and you always find nice locations! it's a pleasure to briwse your topics! is the light inside the 159 lit on? If so, on purpose? because I like how the inside is well lit too.
nth - sweet one, I love all the car's lights play an important role in the final result!
salegosse - almost boring to comment your pics.. they are always well framed, the cars are always top notch and there is never a detail which looks out of place. And hell, that's a Miura :D
Wutputt - the most original picture hands down! Well spotted!
dani - when you first put this pic in your signature I was on my ass! The high-res is even better, this is pro stuff, nice choice of location to shoot flying WRC cars
- sweet night shot of a nice car. trail lights are always fun but not sure it was a good idea to tilt the camera/picture
[b]stmoritzer - woha! For a moment I though the SLR would jump out of the fucking screen! This is a pure beauty: the SLR is really nice when shoot with a wide angle up close from the front! Only downside for you: you used already a silver SLR last month and already got awarded with a second spot
dodo - again a night shot, again trail lights. Beautifull. The car behind the Gallardo (Clio?) spoils it a little bit, but not too much :D
titanboy - not a frantic car, but a good pic with good light and all!
magwheel - very sweet driveway picture! Even sweeter if we thing it is yours and another 4 or 5 supercars hide somewhere nearby :D
speedracer - very mean looking Z06 :good: and well exectuted panning shot.

Many nice pics, but IMO three of them really stand out: dingo's, dani's and komotar's. To pic one was fucking hard and I started to think about it some days ago actually! I'd like to go with dani, but racing/rally cars' pics are not my coup of tea.. so I am left with dingo's CLS55 and komotar's 159... two great pics but the 159 is brutally perfect. I am in love!

Cyril, you got my vote this month ;) good luck to everybody!!!!

every month, i think this is getting harder to choose my favorite :-D

there are a lot of real nice situations going on here... but just lacked the right zoom, or angle, or proportion; but otherwise great shots.

p_zero:
this shot is great, and made it very difficult for me not to choose it. great contrast, great proportions, great depth of field.
pzgren:
a bit of practice, and you'll be up there with some of the other WYST hunters, a great situation; but not the best proportions, or angle.
TT:
the background and foreground are clearly separate, but the only thing that it just didn't have much contrast to it, or that the background is so close to the subject. otherwise, a great photo of a Muira :) damn she is sexy!
Dingo:
the sunset, the lights on the sunset... i can feel the momentum building up under the hood, as the CLS55 is about to pounce its prey  the clearly defined lines bring this one up to the front for me, as its such deep contrast. -->my vote
Mihals:
a nice pic of a 997 that you coudln't have done much different with... perhaps angled slightly down... no clouds hurt the photo, but its really quite good IMO.
Smylait:
many other cars, this shot would look great (with a polarizer) but the Enzo's front profile is really hard to look at for me... many other cars, it would look great, but here it looks odd, and out of place.
80ssportlover:
ouch, such a hard thing to do to shoot a black car against a white backdrop... photshop may have been able to reduce the exposure of the building a little to bring out more contrast.... the background and foregrownd are just so overexposed... still, a nice photo... im guessing an early Diablo based on those wheels... they look almost more like giant countach wheels.
eurocopter:
Amazing photo!!! i can find nothing to descriminate against; you were also somebody hard not to vote for, great contrast, and great angles built behind the land rover :)
sl55kleenmann:
black sure is hard to photograph... it just looks another case of overexposed/underexposed because of the bright background, and dark car.
twboy:
the car is just too dead center for me... the wall offers great contrast, so i would've gotten a closer shot, or zoomed ina bit. great depth of field; and a great color :)
komotar:
damn, another one i have a hard time not voting for! i cant even guess what goes through your mind when scouting out locations you may never have been to, and see such awsome backgrounds, with great angled substance :) if only the car looked better... for an alfa, that just doesn't seem awsome to me.
nthfinity:
perfect photo! :P
salegosse:
there isnt much going on in the upper third... other then that, i like it better then TT's side profile ;) great contrast!
wutputt:
what a unique photo; definate style points here... i bet it was damn hard to get a clean shot of the Bugatti
Dani:
great photo, it works very well. looks like somebody was videotaping you
Polouser:
i like the picture... and Silver mercs work very well at night IMO. something seems off about the plane of the picture... tilting would have helped... the perspective is a little odd.
stmoritzer:
the glass reflection is pretty heavy, but im guessing you were killing another light source? its a great photo that makes me think of TG for some reason
dodo:
a real nice situation; but the other taller cars behind the lambo take it off of "top honors" for me.
titanboy:
so many head-on shots this month! yours is my favorite of the three... ps could've brought the roof-line to horizontal, then it would look a wee bit better :)
magwhee:
one mighty beast there :) the Carl Zeiss lens on your sony always produces very sharp images... something i loved about my last camera :) a real nice angle, but perhaps not the greatest background compared to some of these other guys here ;) thanks for sharing :fadein:
speed_racer:
a little more saturation... but that comes as spring does. a real nice track day photo... perhaps not zoomed in enough.

once again, photo of the month gets harder. i pick pzgern's 996 carrera in the snow, imo its nice to see a car like a 911 in those kinda weather conditions.

NOOOO!!!! why God???!!!?? why???!!!

another month and another VERY VERY difficult choice.

I propose a rating system of 10 points to the best, and 1 to the 10th picture of your choice. I'll make the sums
IMO in this way we'll have a more...hhmm, not democratic, but better and easier choice

MIHALS
03-31-2006, 10:56 PM
I'm not gonna write a loooong list like past submissions, here is only one picture mindblowing, the others are just in the shadow of it.....

Well done Dani, you've done absolutely great job! but why the fuck you didn't shoot Impreza like this? :x

Hum, lot of choice and very hard as usually ... I won't comment every pic as I have no knowledge in pics but I will choose dodo

04-01-2006, 03:09 AM
it was tough, but i voted for Dani's rallying shot.
The pics with Ferrari's are usually my first choices, but I really like rallying, and a slightly air-born Xsara is a great sight, and what a backdrop to that photo!

My vote goes to Dingo. Awesome shot of the first good looking merc in a long time. Headlamps remind me of a Sagaris which is one of my favorite cars.

TT...

You forgot to put Jason - Speedracer38 on the list.

Shit  thanks for noticing! Now I hope he won't get many points (sorry Jason LOL), or else we could wonder how many he lost because of this mistake, and if he could place better in the end :P

dodo's Gallardo... looks fast.. even though it's not moving

salegosse

Dingo or Dani.

They are both top quality, well realized and nice composition.

I'll keep my vote secret.

I'm actually going to vote for Wutputt in this one, as to me imagination is a big part of photography. If you are often taking photos you always need to think of new angles to use or shots to take, and this is a great example of being creative at an event where it is hard to take pics.

Special mentions to dani, komotar, TT and P_Zero_Rosso. :D

Darkel

Hard to choose, after many hesitations, dani gets my vote
A very well executed shot of a special car (go loeb !)

komotar
04-01-2006, 09:56 AM
@TT - about the lights turned on in the car. Yes I often leave lights on in the car when doing night shots. Gives the pic extra wormth and feeling.

P_Zero_Rosso - great pic. Great cars, but the competition is just so fearse this month......and likd TT said, too much ground in the pic.

TT - Love the pic, the early morning sunlight ( or is it early evening) reflects nice off the car. What does that sign mean in the back???

Dingo - Dude, like I said....pro material. The light and the blurry ground, the sunlight bouncing off the one of the best looking mercs 8) VERY COOL

MIHALS - nice soft light, but for this company of pics, well a tough job to say the least. I love the whole feeling.

Smylait - ah, the Enzo pic. Great pic. The red litterary attact the viewer.

80ssportlover - what a cool contrast 8) Serious contender. I wonder how the pic would come out if the guy taking the pic would lift the camera over his head and take the pic from "upstairs". The two extra beast would probably make this pic an even greater contender.

eurocopter - this is one of my favourites. Seriously, the Range goes superbly together with the church, no matter how funny that sounds! It's going to be a close fight :D

sl55kleemann - one of the most underestimated cars of all time. I love the car, but the pic is just a little to plaing

twboy1999 - your pic would be the winner imo, if you would zoom in more, so that the car and the two read pillers and maybe 3feet of wall on each side would still be in the pic. Such great contrast.

komotar - ah, the memories.....one of my favourites cars of the spring.....goes right up there with the F430 the Pathfinder and the MX5 .

nthfinity - AAAA!!! I love this one! The colours!!! Very cool pic, verry cool car and very cool background.

salegosse - the only pic that spoils the feeling are the number stickers on the car.

Wutputt - interesting way of showing the Veyron, lol. Good thinking....at first I was going like, is this a photoshopped pic, lol

dani_d_mas - pro pic man!!! Very cool action pic!!! One of my favourites !!!

Polouser - everything looks right, but I just don't connect with the pic.

stmoritzer - impressive machinery, good angle. Good pic!

dodo - 8) another contender 8)

Titanboy_24 - Lucas, your pics always give me ideas, your unbelivable feeling alyways finding great angles is awesome

magwheel - great car, but the pic is just a bit to plain

Speedracer38 - great action shot, I appretiate that, because I know how damn hard it is to make a decent one 8)

My top 5 not in particular order:

Dingo
TT - if those flags were italian  ...
eurocopter
nthfinity
dani_d_mas

Winner: Dingo. 8) perfect pic

I have to say that Dingos pic is stunning, the car and the fact that its dark, and + nice location, very artistic. :P

go dingo go

But i have to admit that i like very much pic with cooper M3 :P and cayenne
8) ..from p zero roso :D

It came down to two of them for me: pzgren's awesome 996 and the tree w/ the Snow, spectacular contrast and eurocopter's Range Sport w/ the perfect placement of car and architecture.

All the other's were great too, but those two definitely stood out.

My vote had to go to Pzgren's 996! Extra points go to personal cars :D.

I don't really evaluate when I look at the Photo of the Month submissions. I just scroll and usually, a few jump out at me and catch my eye. Most of the time, all the submissions are great, but there will be one or two that just really catch my eye...be it the car, the location or the whole sha-bang. This month, the eye catchers for me are:

Smylait's Enzo: The photo is just stunning. The car is in classis Ferrari Red and you can see the details of the building in the reflection in the hood. Shot from the front, you can really get a feel for how strange the car's nose is. I like this photo the most this month.

80sSportLover's Diablo: This one caught my eye because I am a Lamborghini lover. The aggressive Diablo is still one of my favorites and I dream of owning one some day, but know that it is likely out of reach because of maintenance and upkeep (as compared to the Audi-fied Murcielago, which may some day happen). What kept this one from being a winner is the fact that the car is on a slope and it takes away the fact that the Diablo has a rake to it, which really emphasizes the wedge shape of the design. I've looked and looked, but I'll have to take TT's word that there is an F50 and F1 back there...although the top of the F1 looks familiar, I would not have guessed the car from that tiny bit of car...my first thought was Saleen S7.

Salegoose's Miura and Dino: This one caught my eye because although they're not entirely familiar shapes to me (as compared to the new models), they are classic and shapely and beautiful cars to just stare at.

Wutputt's Veyron: I could not tell what I was looking at and still cannot tell. It looks like a scale model designed to be driven by Hollywood star's children?

StMoritzer's SLR: This one caught my eye because of the angle of the shot. It's low and creates a little bit of a fish-eye result because the car is wide. It made me take a double look.

MagWheels Ford GT: I liked this picture because it's in front of a country style house. The open country is normally not what I associate with cars of this caliber...instead, I tend to first think of high priced Hollywood homes instead. It makes me think of a home, that looks "normal" from the outside, and even the garage opening with a barn-style swing door, to reveal incredible cars hidden inside that nobody knows about.

The were all great submissions...

Great job for everyone who's on submissions.

Also dingos was well done, Sunsets by the sea with a nice car

nice color of the car, good angle and with hthe house in the back, it's a complete pic, nothing disturbing IMO

I'm surprised Polouser got only four votes. Because IMO it easily stands out as the best!

But tasted differ I suppose

04-09-2006, 02:28 PM
Let’s start voting and here’s a little explanation why:

P_Zero_Rosso: great photoshoot: nice chosen location, cars parked perfectly and a menacing sky, really suiting the cars. Though I would prefer the cars positioned a bit lower into the frame

Pzgren: exotics in the snow, I love ‘m :D Great pic, but I would have preferred a different angle, but that’s just personal

TT: Really nice photo, and I like the background, it contrasts with the colour of the car. IMO the pic would have been better if the truck was shown fully, or at least the trailer itself.

Dingo: great location near the water and the sunset makes it even look more beautiful. It’s perfection and the best pic you’ve ever taken. It looks like it comes out of the CLS brochure/

Mihals: great night pic, I like the orange/yellow reflection of the lights on the shoulders of the car. Though I like the car to be framed a bit lower.

Smylait: Great angle and a great background. But the pole, you can’t do anything about it, but it still ruins the pic a bit IMO.

80ssportlover: That’s a great location, the Diablo fits almost neatly into the dealership’s front window and the colour of the car contrasts nicely with the background. Well done!

Eurocopter: another great example of a great setting. The Range is a cathedral under the cars and here it’s parked in front of a real cathedral. Perfect!

sl55kleemann: a really nice angle, and nobody or nothing around to spoil the pic.

twboy1999: as I said in the topic in which you posted this photoshoot. This is an awesome location. Nice contrast between the car and the background. Though I would like the car framed lower into the pic.

Komotar: it’s just amazing to see how you always find new locations or set the location to your hand to take perfect pics. This one is no exception.

Nthfinity: nice evening shot. I like the glare of the lights.

Salegosse: great quality and I like the location. Two vintage Italians, an old vase on the wall and vineyards in the background. Perfect.

dani_d_mas: Well caught. The angle in which you took this pic adds to the ‘drama’. And the mountains in the background just makes it even better.

Polouser: really nice thing you’ve done with the long shutter opening and the cars driving by, but in this case I would have liked the camera to be positioned horizontal.

Stmoritzer: the master of SLR shoots at work :D Great angle to shoot the SLR and the building behind it adds to the ‘drama’ of the pic.

Dodo: this would have been a perfect shot if it small Lancia wouldn’t be parked behind the Gallardo. You can’t of course do anything about it (unless you steel it :P), but it still ruins the pic.

Titanboy_24: Great angle, a nice background in combination with great polarizer effect. Perfect!

Magwheel: A really lovely 3/4the view of the car in front of the house, though you should try some other backgrounds, it would make the car stand out more.

Speedracer38: great panning shot, but I in this case I don’t really like the car to be framed more to the left. But that’s just personal.

And now my final vote: It goes to Dingo. Why? This is the pic which amazed me the most. And if you would have shown me it without Dingo's logos, I really would have thought it came out the CLS brochure. It's that good. And no I'm not saying this because he voted for me, though I would like to thank the anonymous guy out of Australia who transferred an interesting amount of money to my bank account :P

I would like to say few words about those pic, because they really nice work, some of them are amazing.

P_Zero.... I like the sun shining on the silver metal sheets, but the heavy clouds just ate the picture. I would get the cars closer. get a zoom lens. and catch them over lap a bit.

pzgren... Man! I wish I was there when you took the pic. I had never experienced proper snow fall.

TT,,,, PPPP/... Please get that P little bit into the frame. It is killing me... :D

Dingo.... Very classic. safe shot! and it might win my vote.....

MIHLAS.... I like that orange filmy like body, only if the asphalt was bluish, cooler tone. Very clean shot.

Smylait... hummm.. very difficult to say anything, but I would assume that you stood there all day, thinking which angle would you take. and by chance. front view... I would give it my 5/5

80ssportlover... I like the (P/) no parking sign, but a heavy Lambo in-front of Bentley is really making some statement. Love it.

sl55kleemann.... nice and clean//

twboy1999... WooooW! very smooth M5, VS rough wall texture ... Coool VS warm.. Really like it, but I wish more of the ceiling showed. Bring the M5 down in the frame, and fill the top part of the image with some redish horizontal lines and white light boxes... Very architectural image.

komaar... ,, I am so sorry, I'm running out of words... but the colors are out, the red sing only stands out
...I would like to see it in B/W but only the red sign.

nthfinity, .. That red splash paint in the backdrop is a nice effect from the break light.. :)

salegosse.. very rare. but beautiful.

Wutputt. This one won my vote. I's just too funny.... Looks like those kids plastic toy car, where you push yourself with your leg... heheh poor Bugatti. Good one man. :D :D

dani_d_mas.. I can feel the momentum in that photo. have you taken that photo...

Polouser.. Night effect ha!.. get a torch light next time, and try to highlight some parts of the car, I tried it, and it is coool..

stmoritzer.. can there be a better view! see them from front for few seconds in rear view mirror, then they vanish in an eye blink..

dodo... I must be fair, but I love Galla,

Titanboy, very nice low effect, but it looks like chopped front bumper. just raise the image a bit, and show more of the sky/trees/house....

magwheel. Get down on your knees. and take a proper shot. Man! This would have been great. Use zoom lens + lower view, show more of the house/car.

Speedracer38 - Very very nice shot... Do those breaks get red... (Photoshop :) :) )

Those are some amazing photos guys! Wait till next months, I will join in, and hopefully win... LOL. j/k. I am really having some great images, and some very hard to beat...

Spent a while deliberating between P_Zero_Rosso, dingo, dodo, and stmoritzer.

Final vote goes to stmoritzer.

The quality of the submited pictures is always rising every month. It's impressive!

I won't comment each picture individualy because I think i don't have the technical knowledge to add much more to what has been said, but just want to say that I LOVED Dingo's picture!!

Tough one but im going for Dodo and his Gallardo, although Twboy999 and Dingo were good too.
