Interesting - that's an open trackday and the guy is passing people up like that? Almost seemed to be an actual race :P ;)

Passing everything indeed, although I wasn't impressed with his pass on that red 911 !
Quick car though, no mistake there!

Yeah - quick car, but rather a dangeroooos driver for a track day event.

I don't see the point of going to a track day where you can't pass people.. I know youre still able to drive your car as you please while keeping in mind the safety of others. I just cant help but think of getting stuck behind some idiot and not being able to pass him..

Generally open track days have controlled passing except for the advanced group. Perhaps this was the advanced group. However, the driver is seemingly, very reckless. That grass-pass was the result of very poor judgment on his part. It came to my via e-mail, from one of the crew chiefs of an AMLS team that my friends know. He basically said the guy "bought time with horsepower rather than driver skill"...meaning his low times are due to the car and not because he's a good driver...

The driver is Leh Keen, he races for Autometrics in Rolex Grand Am.

Nice vid, thanks. Reminds me of one vid from last summer, starring:

There is "race passing" and then there is "track day passing" - this yahoo (no matter what his credentials) simply executed "dangerous passing".

I don't think this display proved great driver skills and judgement... because if he was really as good as you claim he is, then he would have not exeecuted such a dangerous move in a non-competition environment - he had nothing to gain and everything to lose with those passes.
When 1/100th of a second and a title is on the cards, then pass how ever you feel you need to win the race/trophy/title... but when you are at an open track day, why let your small penis and over sized ego put other people at risk - I would love to hear his explanation if he T-Boned some other privateer having fun in his car.
The video might be cool to watch - but the driver is a twit.
:)
Any chance you know or are the driver? :P

We'll, I've had a very very similar experience. At TWS coming out of T4 a red 993 cut me off into the grass just like in this video. The driver of the porsche failed to see me coming at a much greater speed than he was, I made the move for a safe clean pass, he didn't check his mirrors. Same in this incident, Leh went for a pass at a NASA TT event, open passing, the porsche wasn't watching.
If this was a normal HPDE event, then it would have been a dangerous pass, but because this was a Time Trial event, I wouldn't call it a dangerous pass.
I know the driver, but I am not the driver. I race in a different series.

That was some very impressive driving.
And that supra was well setup.
I hope now that many other supra owners leave to dumb dragracing alone and convert their cars to a road racer that where it's at.
:D 8)

Well, of course knowing the driver you would jump to his defence.. :)
But again, even a NASA TT event doesn't really warrant that kind of move - it's not like the "win" gets you the 6 figures a NASCAR win would ;) - but an incident would cause just as much damage ;)

I'd say in a free passing event he wasnt that far off the mark, the porsche did come across on him, if he'd been looking in his mirrors he would have stayed wide, or not left the gap for him in the first place. I dont really get this time trial stuff though, is it a qualifying session or not, if so then he did what he had to, if not then why the hell was he pushing so hard!? IMO you shouldnt blur the lines between a track day and a racing event, then you wouldnt get this type of problem...
But even a free passing event has no prize, so why the extra risk? The bootom line is if he treats every free passing track event like a series race sooner than later he will take someone out for no reason.
Reminds one of the Lotus vs F40 video from a week or so back.

This supra will be even faster in the future.
He wants to make the supra lighter like a lighter carbon hood and some other things to lose weight
And fit a new brake setup whit 14 inch 6 whit six piston caliper at the front and 14 inch at the back whit four piston caliper(cup car brembo setup).

Whats the HP figure on the Supra?
pagani

580 whp at 18 psi turboboost for the track.
Not that powerfull for a supra but it can put down all it's hp and torque and for more importand than high hp figure's.
