BASE PRICE: $25,389
POWERTRAIN: 2.4-liter, 162-hp, 162-lb-ft I4; fwd, five-speed manual
CURB WEIGHT: 3472 lbs
0 TO 60 MPH: 9.4 seconds

The base GS Eclipse comes with a 2.4-liter, 162-hp four-cylinder driving the front wheels through either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The GT is powered by a 3.8-liter, 260-hp V6 also driving the fronts. There is no all-wheel drive. The five-speed automatic in the GT is still not enough to be really fun, even when that trans is bumped into Sportronic mode, where the shifts are quicker (this thing has 36 shift maps!).

My thoughts on this: The topic title says it all.

Well, I completely agree with you vexor.

The concept of the Eclipse coupe was very promising, but from there it went downhill.

The convertible is even worse like you said, there are much better cars for the same price range. Too bad for Mitsubishi

naw! just kidding  seriously, they are only selling thier cars to one crowed... Evo = im fast and young, and hi, im a girl, and i liek cute cars. yeah its fast, i race it all the time

and then they also sell to the civic crowd (mom's going to work, not the rice space ships)

whats stopping mitsubishi from making a proper rwd eclipse? they could even do a real hardcore version... a mid engined, turbocharged & awd roadster... that'd be nice! :) shouldn't be that tough for them...

it does look ugly, i think they tried copying the Audi TT's shape and they ended up with this thing. the silly thing is, it comes with a very proper engine.. i don't know why don't they drop it instead of the 4g63 in the Evo.. and btw, the Evolution is a beauty uncomparable with this thing..
