SOunds a lot like posturing - "Within 15 minutes Microsoft wanted to know why a second copy was installed"?... That just means his install was activated online - the other copy might never have been online ;)

By the sound of things the "intellectual" is or should be in trouble for not taking better care such sensitive data.

You seldom walk around wiht "secret" data on laptops. hehe

The perp could just as easily ditch the laptop in a river someplace.

Either way, that guy sure was name dropping and posturing - was thre a single agency he wasn't involved with?

What's more sad to me is the fact that this is at UC Berkeley by a university student....society's future is a petty thief... :(

I'd say about 95% of Corporate America walks aorund with "sensitive data" on their laptop. And a good 80% do not take care of their laptops either..

actually that an old news of a student from taking the computer. in any case they say that the teach made all that up in order to get it back. the kid never fell for the treat and still has the computer or sold it already.
