Well i am going out for my frist track day this march (19th). I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me going in. I will have the instructor riding with (rules) and i will be driving my 1997 Ranger XLT, 3.0L v6, 5 spd, 2wd. All I have done is 2.5 in catback exhuast, modifed MAF, and intake. But i am mainly going out there to have fun and not kill myself. I would like to go later in the year after i do some suspension mods to compare. But are there any driving tips i should get/ use?

this is the track by the way.

yeah i don't want to be the king out there, but its required to have new brake pads and fluid before going out. But i am thinking about going to one in may over this one to get some suspension work on the rear. but i don't know what part will get rid of the "light" feeling out of the rear of my truck more. Traction bars or a sway bar? I was thinking more of traction bars to help even the weight in the back and to keep the tires down.... am i totally wrong? or a sway bar to keep the body level?..... :?

Have you had your truck on a track or autocross or anything else?

If not, you might be surprised at how fast even "slow" track driving can be ;) - and I am not sure what could be done to make a 1/2 ton pickup handle.

Dani is (the only proper on JW?) race driver so I'd listen to him

well i talked to the tech inspector at the track and he was hinting that the rearend maybe to light for track use. i was woulding what would glue me to the track the best.

bah! just let it axlehop around the track haha, it'll be fun
my only suggestion is to take it slow and work up...
gingerman raceway wont even allow trucks...or else i'd run the panel van hahaha

also, do a brake fluid flush and change all the other fluids while your at it.
but the brake fluid change (up it to a higher temp fluid if you have the chance) works wonders
