Geneva Motorshow coverage!

Ok guys, no need to spend 1000 words about it, especially since I was so late with the editing! I wanted them online yesterday, but with 510 pics to go through, it was impossible!

I hope you will enjoy this massive coverage! The pass really helped to access every stand, every backstage, every cool thing, and once again I can't thank Jabba enough for making it possible!!! It was a blast, I never walked that much in a single day, not even stopped to eat or to piss! Just 5 minutes to meat jackaraman and another 5 to meet komotar (hello guys!) my legs hurt, and now my eyes too after so many editing hours, so you better enjoy the pics!

And please note the extra effort: this time we have cars but also a bonus page with babes ;)

BTW, you can also access a "best of" from the portal, but it is meant basically for the ones too lazy to check the forum LOL

browsing the pics, I see a stunning blue Veyron,a white V8Vantage, the yellow 430 Challenge is great, several MB (Brabus), can't wait to see the 599GTB in metal, :drool: Miura/concept,CCX and Murci in "grey", the MC12Racer is a star IMO, the Exelero finally on an open stand...ended by a load of Porsches and Spyker

may I ask for a zip-file with all these awesome picture?

To rename all the pics and do all the copy & paste needed to create the pages was a real nightmare, so I am happy somebody noticed ;)
It would have been heaps better to have them renamed from 001 to 226.jpg ;) but I like the fact ppl can know what car they are looking at by checking out the file url/name ;) so I reduce the # of emails I get asking what car it was ;)
And well, that Alfa, called "Diva" is a concept car by Bertone, so not likely to be built one day :(

Last year when I posted the Geneva pics the visits were boosted to around 200% and never stopped growing ever since, so it's kind of a lucky charm for me ;) only difference is that if the visits to my website will double now, the server will simple explode as long as my bank account

Those porsche pictures are very good, you choose a really nice angle there especially the one of the new Turbo. It's not that easy making nice pictures on motorshows; Job well done

Superb pics TT, the new 997 GT3 looks sweet and the rinspeed 997 is positively wank worthy too! The blue MC12 Gt spec is droul worthy!!!! I love the intake restrictors encorperated into the roof scoop moulding.

i don't know of any other car forum that can provide this kind of thing to the public and it's members. freakin amazing. i've neglected the auto scene for so long now some of these new concept cars astonish me and i dont even know the names/stories of half these machines but that didn't keep my eyes from damn near shooting out of my head.

the 06 focus rally car made me drool. (and i nearly shat myself to see gronholm's name on the side of it).

A stunning array of cars, what more could you ask for (an FXX maybe?).

The 599GTB is really growing on me, the front and side profiles are very nice - its only those rear lights (275 GTB style) that don't look right IMO. :bah:

The LP640 Murci is a true beast, but I really need to see it in a proper Lambo colour like green or orange. :D

Zonda F - holy shit!!!! :drool:

Nice to see some old-timers like the Miura and 250 Tdf too. :D

Too bad it won't be the same on saturday/sunday... I guess that a full pic of a GT3 will be just impossible :? :bah: Anyway, I'll do my best just to offer a coverage half as good as yours (considering I won't take the tripod :oops: ). How is the light BTW?? good enough for taking pics without tripod?? which stands caused you more trouble?? I suppose that the Brabus stand is a nightmare as usual! :?...

Well, the GT3 and 997TT are on revolving platforms, like a couple of cars last year. you can stay at the barrier and take some pics of them, not sure how wide your lense is, but a 18mm should be plenty enough. Sadly when the car is revolving, it isn't helping. It was especially bad for the pics from up above, I wouldn't have think so ...
As for light, on most stands ok. I was shooting most of the time with the tripod to have a slow shutter and have blurried moving ppl around the cars, but when shooting the ladies for instance I was always shooting w/o the tripod, F2.8 and ISO 200 or 400 for worst cases. I think your camera too can go up to ISO400 at least without terrible noise, so it should be good for most stands. Koenigsegg and Pagani are the worst: not enough light and revolving cars. Brabus is as always cramped. but since this time I was able to be inside too, I am not sure how bad it is LOL. for sure you can see it was tricky to fit the whole R in the shot from the front (16 mm wide open and tripod as high as it can go (around 190 cm I think)

Nope sorry, no more pics, but I would have liked to have a camera since they revved the hell out of it while presenting it :D (I was kinda far away, on the BMW stand when I heard some right pedal blips, and I doubt it was some of the weird suvs they had on stage near the Viper :D

I saw the banner immediately, very cool! The pictures are of the usual quality, i.e. stunning!

I'm not a big fan of Sbarro, but when I saw this modern interpretation of the Tipo 33 Stradale my jaw dropped to the floor... :drool:

The full frontal pic of the 599 GTB Fiorano is beautiful as well. I'm not going to comment on every pic, suffice it to say there's too much fantastic machinery on them to do that.

Nice to see so much classic cars (250 GT SWB Zagato!!!!! :shock: ) as well. Who organised the display of much of the classics, like the Auto Union, the 300 SLR Uhlenhaut etc.? It looks like they were part of the same stand.

Just got back home... I have a day of work ahead of me tomorrow, so I can't go ahead resizing, uploading and posting the pics tonight (there's several hundred ;) ), but I'll try to take care of it tomorrow evening :)

Also, tonight the Geneva MB dealer had a special inaugural evening for their new offices (a quite big office), and of course I got a TON of pictures of an SLR and Maybach they had in there (probably something for those who really like these cars), and the funny thing about this evening was that...

...usually, you would think MB want to keep that image of themselves trying to sell decent cars for older people, so obviously the "entertainment" would reflect this.

However, tonights entertainement was very Gothic Ero-Fetishist style stuff played to music like Nine Inch Nails - At the Heart of it All and other electro-industrial beats :shock:

That was VERY unlike Mercedes!

I'll post some pics of the scary looking goth chicks in glass water tanks and stuff :shock:

Its a 250 GT TdF Zagato (as TT's filename suggests), serial # 0515GT which is one of two TdF's done by Zagato.

It was a special expo organised by the Automobile revue, probably the most famous car mag in Switzerland which is today 100 years old ;)

...and of course I got a TON of pictures of an SLR and Maybach they had in there...

Which color the SLR? Please tell me it wasn't another fucking silver or black one :!: BTW, did you visit the "terrasse" at the back of Merc stand? do they have the usual Maybach shuttels and SLRs for test drives?

NIce pics. I did not have many of them. I mostly have pictures of more ordinary cars that were presented in the show. i see you had also trouble getting the pictures of the new miura. i managed to get some shots of the old one. 8)

TT: the SLR was silver again... belonged to some MB Swiss rep from Zurich. I was at the backroom of the MB stand, but it was just like every year. The SLR and Maybach shuttels I've never tried, and I think they were not available yesterday due to the snow.

You already made a topic for Geneva car show pics, so I just wanted to add mine into it, instead of opening more, and more threads... just complicates things ;)

The Maybach and SLR pics are above ;) (just takes time to post...) Too bad the lighting REALLY sucked... many, many blurred pics. I took only the best ones. I didn't have a tripod :(

And finally, at the evening, they had some weird shows going on. The lighting made it difficult to get good pictures, but I chose the ones which came out best. I didn't take a lot of pics of all the shows that were going on (like a sort of trapeze chick in a sexy vinyl outfit, or the gothic-tribal style people with weird sticks, shaking them to the boom of a VERY loud thundering music). The funny part is that the people who did the show, there were a few people we knew from underground gothic club nights and stuff...

p.s. the pics above were mostly taken when the chicks were not floating about/moving around... if they did it, the shots would end up very blurry... so I really only managed to get decent shots when they were standing still...

The funny part was when they came out of the tubes (nice bodies btw... too bad the water made them seem a bit... fat :erm: ), one of the girls would playfully squirt water at the cameraman. Got a chuckle out of me :D

997 GT3: Already as one of my ten favorite. Menacing "GT" looks with a screaming 8,400 rpm 415bhp engine

Turbo: I like it, but not as much as the GT3

599 GTB: Like the rear, not a fan of the front though

Alfa Spyder: two thumbs up

Peking to Paris: Hey, it might be the most expensive, less useable SUV ever, but i don't care. It looks like a fish with a glass bubble on the top, awesome 8) :D

I have no idea what you do to your pics, but man the are almost EVO magazine material!...I envy you guys who are able to go to these kind of events...it must be amazing all those supercars around, and don't even mention the babes around...

The Alfa Diva is not really my cup of tea, the Alfa 33 was an amazing car, but this one doesn't do justice to it...as I said before it looks like the bastard child of an Enzo & the 8C...and it seems I'm the only one who thinks this... :hmm: but well, knowing that it is a Sbarro concept I can undestad the ugliness and thank god Alfa won't consider building it...

Aston has for sure taken the cake in this family resemblance thingy, matching Porsche the king of lazy design...all their cars look the same, but the Aston Rapide is one sexy car for sure, I can't wait till this thing hits the streets. They should price it a bit on the high side to keep it exclusive or else they're gonna sell it like pancakes...

The star of the show is obviously the 599 GTB...and damn it is one of the best looking Ferraris ever :drool: ...right up there with the 355 IMO, and that is fucking high i my book. I think they got it just right, not a thing would I change about it, the rear is sexy as hell, screw the quad tailights these twin tailights look perfect. A worthy successor of the 550/575 in the looks department... TT how does the 599 looks in real life? is it as good as it looks in pics?

Koenigsegg CCX...well more of the same thing...but for the US market...looks abit more agressive but I think the original headlamps suit it better... :bah:

The restyled Murcielago looks way better IMO, the subtle changes makes it look more agressive and gives it a bit of an edge which was lacking from the original Murci and that has always been present in Lambo cars. But this color is utter crap IMO...please show us a yellow one.

It's always good to see some classics in these events, the Muira in all it's glory next to it's lame lil sister (the new one which has no purpose of existance)...and the SLR gullwing...

The Zonda F in both it's format are just perfection IMO...there is no possible way they can make the Zonda better after this. Zonda F Coupe in Carbon Fiber = Perfection...must have been a bitch to take pics of with all the lights and reflections...

The Spyker SUV it just... :puke: and what the hell did Sbarro do to a poor 360? seriously what the hell were they thinking?

Well that's it...a bit long but the least I can do is express my opinions on the cars that made impression on me...

As for the 599, DEFINITELY good looking in the metal, and it will be even better on the road IMO! Most ppl I know, drastically changed their mind once they saw it in the metal.
