Well not exactly the RSR was at bathhurst(not impossible, but more likely not...). It was probably it's predecessor, the GT3-RS(not to be confused with the recently released GT3RS road car with the red/blue trim). The racing RS was the evolution of the 1999 GT3-R. The racing version of the original GT3(one with the paperclip rear wing and 360bhp, one that US never got...). The GT3-R was updated to the RS spec in 2001 with updated front end air management and some other goodie. The car was extensively used in just about every major GT championship around the world(being a Porsche made race car, one can expect consistat reliability and competitiveness from the get go). After 2003 season further development was made to the racing version which warranted a new homologation model of the GT3(therefore the new road car was built and). And thus we see the RSR, which has revised suspension geometry and of course more power. And some subtle styling and aero changes to reflect the newer model of 911(headlight). The most significant of all update of the RSR was the implimentation of the sequential racing tranny(which for the ALMS fan, was first used by Alex Job Racing on their RS). Since this sequential box was allowed for 2003 and onward.
